Anything In the Night Garden related is high on my list for things get for DD (2)- her Upsy Daisy from last xmas is well loved, oft washed and has no eyes- but the best present i have ever bought anyone!!

My tip is the Upsy Daisy and her Runaway bed- is £34.95 in most shops, but is going to be very popular.

lunavix · 01/10/2008 21:33

dd's iggle is worn out but due to losing her upsy daisy it's still shiny and new

isn't the runaway bed really naff? (goes to have a look)

was thinking of getting dd a bike (I'm assuming 10 inch?) sadly theres an iggle one and no upsy...

JolieGirl · 01/10/2008 21:34

A balance bike

Lilyloo · 01/10/2008 21:35

the bed in top 10 present list someone posted earlier would get one now if it's around think it's going to sell out!

feetheart · 01/10/2008 22:04

Got very active DS one of these for his 2nd birthday (nearly a year ago) and its brilliant.

Ems75 · 01/10/2008 22:18

I've a 2 year old daughter and I was going to get her a bike.
Lunivix - Argos have an Upsy bike!!

Tesco Direct have some discount on Night garden toys, I was going to get DD Night Garden building blocks. I've already bought a few things including a large Fifi doll, Little Tikes Xylophone, Leapfrog Fridge Phonics and a lovely Fisher Price doll called My Baby knows

loc · 01/10/2008 22:27

I'm going to get 2yo DS a bike and an easel. Are balance bikes worth it, or better to go for normal bike with stabilisers?

QueenHerod · 01/10/2008 22:30

Get a balance bike- they are fabulous and my ds has been able to shoot around on his for ages (is just 3 now)

what's a balance bike? [stupid emoticon]

QueenHerod · 02/10/2008 21:14

This is a balance bike. Youtube have footage showing how they work with little ones on them i think.
Just a bike with no pedals really.
I got the one I linked to from Boots in their sale earlier this year for £12.50.
Worth shopping around at this time of year if you fancy one.

ds has been asking santa for the dragons type castle thing in that bloody christmas mothercare catalogue they sent.he's 2.

PavlovtheCat · 02/10/2008 21:34

BHS do Upsy Daisy Dressing up costume with the tights and hair - £15, got it already but probably will be popular.

Our DD is going to get her own camera - I can't remember who does it, Fisher Price? Very robust, but takes real pictures - she 'uses' our camera all the time and its only a matter of time before she breaks it!

Luckily for us, DD watches hardly any tv, so there will be little 'must haves' for her!

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 02/10/2008 22:27

Have got DD an easel and a balance bike. Managed to get the bike for £30 on ebay (brand new) and thought that was a bargain, but £12.50 BARGAIN!

Had said we're not going her anything else other than the odd book or jigsaw, but she got her hands on the mothercare christmas catalogue too and keeps pointing out the Upsy Daisy dress up set...

I am absolutely skint this year so am budget buying for DS with a max of £40 but he is 2 so won't matter too much.

I got him a Little Tikes road n rail set from ebay for £10 used but in fab condtion he wnt care a new one £20 minimum.

Am also going to get him some little bits n pieces like finger paints, paper and some crayons he loves those kind of things and maybe a kids variety DVD they have on offer in woolies for a £1 it has boogie beebies and finlay the fire engine on it so will be good for during the day for half an hour whilst I do a quick tidy or we decide to have a dance. Oh and one of those road playmats you get as he loves his toy cars etc.

That al;l comes to about £30 so not bad considering the budget anbd will get a few wee bits n pieces for his stocking on xmas eve in argos or tesco just little cars and a few little treats.

As for things you can make I am attempting to make an aeroplane mobile for his room but will probably result in my joiner grandpa making it LOL. Costs about a fiver to make but he loves my little cousins fairy one. And my gran is making him a lovely blanket for his bed.

hana · 02/10/2008 22:54

you were asking about things to make -
can you sew?

little dolly pillows/blankets/nappies

could get fabric from charity shops - old curtians are good if a kids pattern, or pastel shades.

I have a newly turned 2 year old girl and she loves playing with her dolls -putting them to bed/feeing them/changing them/etc etc

LunarSea · 03/10/2008 07:53

ds2 won't be quite 2 - but it looks like he'll be gettting a small balance-bike, and possibly a 3-wheel scooter from the GP's. And then little cheap things like a bag of punchball balloons.

mamadiva · 03/10/2008 08:03

Could someone explain to me about balance bikes?Aren't they difficult to go my DS has a trike at the moment. Would it be worth trying to get him one?

teenspirit · 03/10/2008 08:05

Toy story DVD and Buzz and Woody - my ds loves them.

Buckets · 03/10/2008 17:52

All 2yr olds love a handbag, even the boys.

TheBlonde · 04/10/2008 11:29

I'm going to buy some Aquadraw mats and some HappyLand from ELC

EustaciaVye · 04/10/2008 18:45

DD is getting a pushchair for her dolls. And anything Peppa Pig.

selby · 04/10/2008 21:48

Just ordered a pink mini micro scooter for DD - couldn't resist the bargain. Was wavering between that or a balance bike but the 30% off code made the decision for me.
