selby - where can you get 30% off the mini micro scooters? Have been looking at those but haven't seen any discounts on them anywhere?

stealthsquiggle · 04/10/2008 23:35

On my make rather than buy list (don't know how much I will get around to)

  • play table & chairs - cheap one from ikea painted
  • beanbag chair
  • dolls blankets, etc
  • bags. DD loves bags

My two tips would be:

  1. ELC remote control cars - tenner
  1. Usbourne Farmyard tales set of 12 books with stickers - theBook People 12.50 i think

I think we will be getting ds1 lots of new Take along Thomas bits.
My mum has bought the Thomas carrier for the trains to go in too.

He was 2 in August.

Its really hard to buy things for him because he still puts things in his mouth and is quite destructive.

I'm checking out Hot Uk Deals frequently and MSE for some bargain tips.
Amazon have those little scooters for £9 but they were mispriced to £1000 yesterday
I think I'll wait till they are reduced.

LunarSea · 05/10/2008 12:37

nbg - it's the three wheel scoot I was looking at. Question is can I justify £34.70 inc postage from BM for it, when I could get this one from Tesco from £7.49 - and free delivery if I get other things to bring the total up to £25?

We're also thinking of asking the GP's to get DS a scooter.

We've bought him a keyboard/stool set. DH convinced he's a musician in the making. Stocking fillers I've got are: stacking policeman, pullback motorbike (DS loves motorbikes), a wind up butterly, a clacking monster thing, some funky plastic tubs which can be used for snacks/lunches which I've filled with duplo figures, extra bricks etc, toy microphone, recorder, and I'll buy him some chocolate coins and a satsuma nearer the time!

If people ask me what to get him then I have the following ideas: threading beads, toy motorbike, story CD's, the scramble net for his climbing frame, and the Build-It Construction set from ELC.

I've had to do it all in advance as we're likely moving between now and xmas in to a "project".

The microscooters are fab - really good although they are fast

stealthsquiggle · 06/10/2008 09:54

DD loves DS's scooter, and we don't really have anywhere for her to ride a bike so I think that one will wait. DS got brio trains for his 2nd birthday (and a fab playtable which FIL made) but DD can inherit those so (like most 2nd children) she doesn't need anything at all!

Play kitchen for b'day. Dolls pushchair from GPs. Don't know about Christmas yet - lots of other birthdays to worry about between now and then .

Nbg · 06/10/2008 12:52

Do you know I've been thinking for days now, why are people getting gifts from their Dr's and realised that GP's was grandparents lol

Lunar the Tesco one is very tempting at that price isnt it. Although the BM one is lovely, expensive but lovely.

I'm still debating the dancing Iggle Piggle for ds1.
I think the scooter is cheaper!

LunarSea · 08/10/2008 16:15

Oh well, back to the drawing board. Went to the Blooming Marvellous site - and the Blue Micro Scooter is "no longer available". And the cheap tesco one has gone now too.

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 08/10/2008 16:16

haven't read the rest yet, but DS has playing up clothes, fishies, various fire sam bits, a scaletric form my mum, a lepa pad thing from XMIL.

oh and wooden train sets joint form me & XH.

Those balance bikes are fab - can thoroughly recommend them. We bought dd this for her 2nd birthday and she whizzes round on it. A friend of mine bought one for her dd when she was 2 (I actually nicked the idea off her!) and her dd is now 3 and cycles on a proper bike without stabilisers - is very impressive to watch

Mamadiva - they soon get the hang of it. It's less clumsy than a trike, but because it has no pedals the child can learn to balance on 2 wheels as much as they feel comfortable with (ie, once they start getting the feel of it, they put their legs up for as long as they feel they can and it's very easy for them to put their feet back on the ground if they start to feel as though they are losing balance / control).

Good present for the whole family - not only for the two year old - would be something like this but I understand that it might be too expensive and kid could probably not have as much fun in small age yet.
So for something smaller like this and buy also a small toy to it.
