I'm seeing a lot more 'giant' decorations in store this year. Does anyone have a plan?

B&M - Giant Gold Bell - £30 each:

Oh good, more giant lumps of plastic to end up in landfill! Exciting!!!

Why do you assume they'll end up in landfill? I keep and reuse all my decorations. Same with so called "fast fashion" I don't buy anything with the intention of using it once and them throwing it away.

I have christmas decorations from over 20 years ago, I also have some of my parents decorations too. I never have a theme so dont need to chuck stuff out. My decorations come with memories.

That’s great but you must surely be aware that there are an awful lot of people who buy stuff constantly and therefore have to get rid of stuff very frequently. When stuff is poor quality, like most of the items shown on this thread, it means they are much less likely to have resale value or even be accepted by a charity shop. Therefore they end up in landfill.

This is true but, to be fair to OP. that kind of person is going to buy these things anyway. OP showing what's available in the shops isn't going to make any real difference.

I had a clear out about three years ago and got rid of loads of Christmas tree decorations that I'd bought over the years.

I put them on Freecycle and someone from a school came for them for the school Christmas tree. I wouldn't have just dumped them in the refuse bin to go to the tip if someone else can use them.

I also got rid of my 20 year old Christmas tree that I didn't need any more last November, that also went on Freecycle and someone snapped it up.
