Yes I’ve definitely started!

Look what I found at the back of the freezer 😁. I will enjoying this later with my tea!

Absolutely acceptable !
in fact i am considering purchasing a terry's chocolate orange from the stand in my local shop that has Merry Christmas ! emblazoned across the top .

Besidemyselfwithworry · 18/08/2026 12:10

Mince pies are acceptable all year round! Most definately!!!!!
inlove that the shops are starting to get bits in there already.

Oh you definitely have to! Love chocolate orange and haven’t had one in years, never fancy the segments in a bag, that’s just not Xmas at all!

I’d totally forgotten that they were there - they were reduced and I threw them in the freezer, but now I can’t stop thinking about the Waitrose browned butter mince pies 🥧 might have a bit of a wait!

Maybe not too much of a wait I’m sure the shops will have them out soon ❤️ there is decorations and things coming out already.

oldwhyno · 18/08/2026 12:28

you do you, but for me? Yes, definitely too early. I could never.

Cuppachuchu · 18/08/2026 12:43

I'd have those warm with custard.😋
I did tut at the wall of chocolate tubs in Tesco last week, but I'm coming around to the idea now the weather has turned less summery. And itll soon be autumn. So.🤷‍♀️

Surely it’s an eight month late Christmas treat, if discovered at the back of the freezer?

I like your thinking 😁

Late can easily slide into early, if you decide to partake of a chocolate orange.

SomeFiggyPudding · 18/08/2026 13:52

Ooooh they look lovely! Enjoy! 🎄

I have three mini Christmas puddings in the pantry from a couple of Christmases ago which I am determined to use this year but probably November rather than Christmas day. I'm looking out for the Sainsbury's limencello panettone to come back

Allmarbleslost · 18/08/2026 18:06

If I start now I'll be 2 stone heavier by Christmas

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 18/08/2026 18:09

I used to work in retail. Christmas stuff would be in in August (in the warehouse if not in the shop, but there's a huge crossover between Halloween sweets and Christmas), Easter eggs would arrive on Boxing Day.

So it is never too early (or late). In fact, I made and froze some mince pies last year that we didn't eat - might turn a few of those out later!

Purplebunnie · 18/08/2026 18:11

I found a packet of mince pies in the freezer whilst furtling around for an ice lolly. Was a tad disappointed it wasn't a pack of lollies.

I bet they’ll be delicious 🤤

I have never tried Limoncello, but was watching Nigella liberally slosh it around in a trifle the other night and thought this is the year to buy some!

You could have stuck a cocktail stick in one and had the perfect lolly! 😄

I didn't think of that, silly me!!

I was in Iceland today, lots of Christmas chocolate stuff, Father Christmas, tree decorations etc. Sainsburys won the prize though, they had hot cross buns out. Roll on Easter.

The Range was quite restrained, they just had Halloween stuff.

user85642879067 · 18/08/2026 19:18

Our local Tesco has had pallets of Roses and Quality Street choc tubs in for a couple of weeks now - thats a Christmas thing normally!
I’d eat the mince pies, you probably should check they haven’t gone off in the name of health and safety, so you’ll have time to buy some more!

It’s crazy isn’t it? But then I’ve always been one of those shoppers that buys the food at the last minute - I use to love when my dc were little, popping up to my local supermarket on Xmas eve, which back in those days was usually very quite, and do the Xmas shop and pick up all the bargains, none of this buying months before malarkey 😄

OP your thread title really made me chuckle.
Somehow I couldn't quite get across to my partner what the joke was.
I guess you need to have been on MN to be aware that it's a theme.

It was delicious - I warmed it in the air-fryer, but it was gone in 2 mouthfuls. I was pleased I hadn’t taken another out to defrost, because I would have eaten it!
