That’s a great freezer find! Mince pies never make it as far as the freezer here. I’m quite jealous and pleased to hear that the first one has been enjoyed!

Reminds me of the year I made the boozy Christmas cake in October and got the cake tin out of the cupboard to find that half of the previous year's cake was still in there, it had so much alcohol that it had only improved !

I've been to Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco and no mince pies in sight 😭I'm sure Sainsbury's had them in this time last year 😞

I'm going to start freezing them so I can enjoy them all through the year, especially with the Costco ones as you get a huge tray and it's really only me and the other half that eats them.

Good plan! I’m still working my way through them, but made some Nigella flourless brownies yesterday that have gone in the freezer too - they definitely won’t last till Xmas! 😄

There were Hot Cross Buns in M&S at the weekend …I was severely tempted but resisted. No mince pies yet though (that would have been harder to resist).

in my defence, I am currently overseas for a work posting for a couple of years and had been doing a big shop for treats (from M&S, local deli, local good butcher and other local deli, and local supermarket for regular things I can’t get here) as I had driven home for summer holidays once and won’t have the space again for things like that.

(I also brought back a bottle of sloe gin I made a couple of years ago specifically for Christmas…😁)

@BiddyPopthe2nd Oooh you've reminded me I made Damson gin last year and didn't open it as we were ill. 2nd Christmas in a row have been ill. Fingers crossed we are not inflicted this year

I asked DH to put Sainsbury's mince pies on our order for this week . They were showing in stock . Let's see what happens.
Probably the pocket thinking " Mince Pies! In September. Are you barmy?" And the computer selecting something random like pickled beetroot

I got some last week from Tesco. Everywhere has them now. I'm happy. Just working our way through the first box 😁

Bought a tub today of the M&S sticky toffee pudding dunkers. OMG they are amazing 😍

I'll start my treat when I come home from dialysis on Christmas eve and end it when I go in on boxing day. Im trying to think of a Christmas dinner thay is both luxurious and safe, unless my daughter comes over in which case I get turkey and vegetables, like festive upgrade on the chicken and vegetables I normally eat. I cant have any sides and TBH it feels awful to think I cant have anything nice. .Enjoy everything you have whilst you can as you never know when serious illness will happen.

So sorry to hear this Torchout - life certainly can through you a curveball. I spent a few days on a renal ward a few years back where several of the other patients were on dialysis and I could see how tough it was to deal with, both physically and mentally.💐

I promise to enjoy my mince pies - have finally finished the box now and will now wait till nearer Xmas before partaking again!

Love a mince pie. Just reminds me i have sn individual Christmas pudding knocking about. I'll hsve that for tea one night
