Just signed up for Tesco Anytime deliveries, ready for my Christmas food delivery!🎄

Think I saw October 3rd opening mentioned somewhere, - off to find out! 🎅

PearlsTeapot · 17/09/2026 15:25

99, woohoo that's exciting!

I was in hospital in London last christmas and couldn't see DW or DS at all, so this year feels extra special to me. I can't wait to put up the decorations and tree, DW was sad and lonely putting them up last year- she only did it for DS's sake and he was in the pits with his mental health and wouldn't even help, so she did it alone. Not this year! Mama's back in business! I can't wait. Tunes on, decs out, we'll put them up on Sat 28th November.

Updating my post… Tesco slots are live on November 3rd. ( not Oct 3rd ) that’s for an ‘anytime’ pass and Nov 5th for other passes.

Looks like its going to be a nice day today. I have a wasps nest in the garden and I've been leaving them well alone but looks like they are getting ready to close up shortly.

I'm planning to pull up the tomato plants this weekend as they were a waste of time this year.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/09/2026 07:43

Morning!

Our tomatoes are driving me mad...I have loads of them. I'm starting to get triggered by ripe ones. 😬🤣🍅 My dad is enjoying the harvest though. I give him a bag of them every week. The plants are getting scratty though, so I'll be glad to get rid of them.

It was a pleasant dog run / walk this morning. Warm with a breeze. Keeps me cooler, which is nicer than being stupidly hot and sweaty!

I'm glad it's Friday today. I've not slept well this week, so need the rest. Not that cleaning the house is amazingly restful!

A couple of people at work said to me "Oh , d'you know it's 100 Days to Christmas" this week.
I had to say "Oh yes, I did read that somewhere" rather than "Yes! I know . I've been Counting Down since last Christmas " Xmas Grin
They'd think I was a tad barmy .

2nd load of laundry on, it looks dry with light breeze .
Then some tidying up .

Tomorrow I need to pick up an M&S order , Nothing Christmas though

rogueone · 18/09/2026 09:32

I bought my first present yesterday - it’s the one thing I do through the next few months just get bits and bobs - ( then my DH freaks when he thinks I have gone OTT)

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 18/09/2026 09:32

We took our daughter and granddaughter to see Fluffy and our parents yesterday. Quite a long day but a good one.

I have a few Christmas buffet items coming in my Iceland shop today. Makes me feel super organised but I expect I will have got carried away and will end up playing a small game of freezer jenga later.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 18/09/2026 12:16

I’ve gone the opposite way to you why - I’ve run our freezer stocks down so much it looks a bit sad. I even have a whole empty drawer in the little one Shock

😂 70 That definitely happens to me although usually nearer the date.
I have told 1 friend that I’m on a Christmas countdown thread. She hates winter so just rolled her eyes at me - but every now and again she sends me reels of ‘its 35° outside but inside my head it looks like this’ with Christmas music and decorations.

My cough/cold has finally fully got me. My head is pounding and I’ve been shivering for most of the morning. I’m working until 2 then going to rest until school run time.
DH will cook tea while I do bedtime and then I’ll be having a hot shower and going to bed I think.

Does anyone remember the M&S red vases and flowers that a few of us bought last year? They are doing similar this year but the price is very different! I had a Sparks offer and seem to remember paying £25-£30 for them. The vases are really nice and have seen a fair bit of use since but I don't think I'd buy them this year at £75!!

On the subject of freezer space I now only have one small chest freezer in the garage - I was running 2 half full as I have a full height freezer in the kitchen and there are only 3 of us at home now, so I consolidated and gave one to a friend who was moving.

The kitchen freezer is on schedule to have a drawer and two shelves empty by the end of October - once DS has gone back to uni next week I will work through my stash of stuff, start baking and making a few things to make dinners a little easier over the festive period.

I have those. No way would I have paid that much. One of the shapes of the vases was bloody wobbly, it has to be said!

I've just checked my M&S receipts saddo . I paid £36 after the offer. The full price was £45.

Those red vases are pretty Woolly they'd look lovely lined up down the centre of a white table cover .
Our cats would do the (Typical Cat) "Oh , let's see if the hoo'mans have paid the Gravity Bill this month" ...push...fall "Didn't think so "

DH and I were up in That Larndarn yesterday evening , I woke up with cramp in my feet Xmas Shock after walking about ! Not the walking so much but I wore a pair of boots with a slight heel that I haven't worn for ages ... Now I remember why I haven't worn them !

Magnoliasunrise · 19/09/2026 08:40

The vases are pretty but no way worth £75. Last year I got loads of eucalyptus, sea holly, pussy willow and some kind of red berry things and piled it all into a massive glass vase and it looked fantastic.

I was out yesterday with a friend for lunch and it somehow rolled onto midnight so I'm a bit shattered this morning as still got up early to do kids packed breakfasts for training so gym is cancelled but the supermarket shop is now imminent. 🙄

Lapland UK is amazing. Lucky enough to live near the Ascot one 😃

I was born in ascot, I feel I should revisit to do Lapland uk but I think my kids have aged out!

maybe next Christmas we will be in a better place and can think of actual Lapland for fun.

FurForksSake · 19/09/2026 11:19

They are taking the piss with those vases! I will be reusing them this year but no way are they worth that. The amount of flowers last year was only enough just not to be scant.

Yes. I ran out and had to eke them out. I reckon there was 4 vases worth of flowers / foliage and 6 vases. And the only design which was unstable is the one they've put back in this year. I think the other 2 are different.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget I've found you a cat friendly Christmas tree!

Xmas Grin They would love that ! They have a multi level cat tower which takes up waaay too much space and they either ignore or cram their lardy bodies into ."no , you cannot move our tower , we love it"

I was out in town today , it was really busy , I tend to avoid on a Saturday .
M&S was busy , people were whingeing . I did think "Pffffst don't come here at Christmas then ya moaning tourndishes"
I avoid town on a Saturday for all of December for this very reason .

FurForksSake · 19/09/2026 20:23

I went to Lidl today and didn’t look but didn’t see much Christmas stuff in there. I find Aldi and Lidl very useful for more continental bits at Christmas.

Ocado Christmas slots go live this week. I’m going to order my turkey after pay day.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2026 21:24

Oh, I went to M&S today. No C&C Buck's Fizz. Xmas Sad

I ordered our Christmas meat on Thursday from an online organic shop. I went for beef, lamb and pork (as usual), plus I got some pigs in blankets and then a pack of bacon (to make up to the offer price of spend £150, get a 'centrepiece' joint for half price).

I'm steadily buying bits and pieces. I've got all of our fizz, and I'm getting the beer from Asda tomorrow, along with a bottle of vodka to make my rosehip vodka (I've already made a blackberry one and an elderberry one). I had a 'spend £60 and get £20 into your cash pot' offer. I'll buy more Christmas bits with the £20.

I've no clue what's happening particularly this year yet. I'm sure it'll come clear at some point!

I've ordered DS sports socks for his Dec 1st Box (IKR, how ahead of the game am I?)
M&S gave me a 20% off clothes after I bought jeggings and ,leggings for me and a jumper for DD .
Food shop won;t be for ages .
