I know... I know ... It's June.

I'm just feeling nosy and wondering what your most luxurious/ treat/traditional (whatever) spend is at Christmas?

Truthfully, I don't really have one! But my life is different now. Previously, we were child free and basically working most of it so our most luxe spend was probably some nice chocolates also I only have a small list of people to buy for so I like to not necessarily spend a lot of money but put a lot of consideration and thought into gifts I have a little text conversation with myself where I note when people mention flavours they like etc.

Just interested in other people's Christmases?

Yes to :
M&S Christmas Food catalogue. I know it's online but I do like the paper one too
Lakeland Limited Catalogue. Again online , I do a wishlist and either buy in-store or whittle it down by " I don't really need that do I ?" . If it's a lot or heavy then I do an online order. I request a paper one by post
TV Times Christmas edition. Though I didn't last year and......I didn't miss it !!😃
I do scroll through Booths online but they don't deliver to us Southerners . I just pretend " well we have F&M in London so there". I don't think I've ever been to F&M. A browse through Selfridge food hall for a "how much??"

And Good Housekeeping magazine. I only buy the Christmas edition , I've long given up on magazines as they're mainly adverts. There's something comforting in reading the same thing every year, knowing that Aldi will win every taste test. And they have a picture of a decorated tree on the cover not Nigella, or even worse Lorraine 'oh look at me with my head thrown back huge laughy smile I 'm such a laughy fun person" Kelly.

My brother always gets me an M&S voucher for my birthday. I spend it in December and buy myself some lovely Christmas treats. My husband was laughing at me last year because I spent my birthday money on sweets and he was going to tell my mum on me 😂I will be doing the same again this year. I can't wait for the peppermint bark cookies to come back out again. We also get Leonidas Chocolates every year for Christmas. One year I bought extra to eat on the run up to Christmas and my daughter would get very excited for the bedtime truffle 😆Oh, I can't wait for Christmas 😀

Homemade Christmas Cake is the bees knees . I make my almond paste with Amaretto and use that to soak the fruits with. Nice layer of royal icing to finish .
Years back I would leave half plain and give some to my parents ( my dad didn't like marzipan or icing) .
Every year I think " is it worth baking one" but I've never found a bought cake that compares. I use sultanas ( nice Turkish ones) soak at least four days in Amaretto till they're sozzled. Then feed before wrapping up .
The marzipan has Amaretto, lemon juice and almond extract to flavour.

Oh stop! 😋

All I could think about last night was Christmas cake. So much so that I briefly considered making one now!

I love marrons glace, but found the ones I bought last year disappointing, so looking for any suggestions on good brands?

As other PP's have said for me it's a couple of trips to M&S for ALL the food. I don't regularly shop there so a treat for me.

Also me and my mum have a festive night away at the end of November in a nice hotel with afternoon tea, spa etc.
