I know... I know ... It's June.

I'm just feeling nosy and wondering what your most luxurious/ treat/traditional (whatever) spend is at Christmas?

Truthfully, I don't really have one! But my life is different now. Previously, we were child free and basically working most of it so our most luxe spend was probably some nice chocolates also I only have a small list of people to buy for so I like to not necessarily spend a lot of money but put a lot of consideration and thought into gifts I have a little text conversation with myself where I note when people mention flavours they like etc.

Just interested in other people's Christmases?

Happy to wade into Christmas in June 😃
We ( DH, DD and I) have a pre Christmas break. City break in a nice town .
I do a December 1st Box for DD and DS . DD will be part of her presents so it costs £ but she likes to use them through December.

I have two Christmas treats

  1. The Bonne Maman advent calendar. Little pots of jam, a new one every day, in a flavour I won't be able to get elsewhere.
  2. Pfeffernusse. Little iced gingerbread biscuits that are perfect to accompany a cup of coffee. They're only in the shops (OK, Waitrose) in the runup to Christmas. We go through about one bag per week when we have them, and I have been known to clear the shelf when I go to buy them - I think the most I've bought in one go was 20 bags Blush . I am shameless about this.

Well I never! Had no idea a jam advent calendar existed! Will definitely be getting myself one of those!

Oops posted too soon

A good mosey round Waitrose ( not my regular shop as it's too far)
Sainsbury's Taste the Difference limencelllo pantone
Dark chocolate marzipan/ dark chocolate cherry liqueur
We're vegetarian except DS , he gets a nice piece of chicken

I update my Christmas Notebook and makes lists of things to buy and to avoid

If you look out for the early releas3 you get a free gift jar of chocolate hazelnut spread or similar .
I bought a Rituals Wreath advent calendar last year to try the different scents. I think this year I'll go for the Bonne Mamam one 😀

A fuck ton of cheese from the fancy cheese shop. Not to be shared with visitors. Only eaten when it’s just me and my husband. I order that before the turkey. I do get fancy cheese throughout the year but I order an epic amount for Christmas. There are other treats but that’s the favourite.

Yes yes yes!!!

A luxury beauty advent calendar, a different one each year. A hotel stay over Christmas. We are two adults so just ourselves to indulge and we love our Christmas getaway by the sea. This usually includes a walk on the beach on Christmas Day and lots of eating, drinking and being waited on in lovely surroundings.

My favourite luxury is home made Christmas cake - fed with plenty of brandy, and covered with home made marzipan and royal icing.

Oldraver · 09/06/2026 19:40

An almost kilo of filet of beef from the butcher

Oh yes and many many cheeses. We used to get £100 voucher at Christmas (stingy gits only £50 now) and I called it my cheeses vouchet

cleo333 · 09/06/2026 19:44

Love this

Allseeingallknowing · 09/06/2026 19:46

Brandy butter
Good shortbread
Good quality after dinner mints

Blarn · 09/06/2026 19:50

I spend an eye-watering amount if money on a large rib of grass fed beef and when I cook it and ear it I never regret the cost.

I alo start buying and eating lebkuchen as soon as I spot them in the shops so I dread to think how much money I spend on those over the months!

Trip to Thailand. Wish I could do it every year. Fuck December.

Polish 'birds' milk' candy. It's gorgeous.

TeaForTwoPlusDog · 09/06/2026 20:35

We have a company come to decorate our home inside and out. They do all the trees and decor including lights.

UrOutdoors · 09/06/2026 20:37

A goose!

Tana433 · 09/06/2026 20:37

We have such a simple Christmas now because we havent got young children anymore and in a way that is sad but in another way i love it. Christmas eve is a big meat and cheese board with bread and pickles and plenty of wine. Christmas day is chilled with the dinner just like a sunday roast! My favourite of all is Boxing day. Picky bits and booze all day and a chance to catch up on Christmas Eastenders and read any new books that Santa may have brought me!

user1497787065 · 09/06/2026 20:39

I spend about £60-£70 on a fresh Christmas door wreath

I thought that only existed in the movies! How much does it cost you?
