littlebrownfox · 25/12/2025 00:17

When do you stop doing stockings?

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 25/12/2025 00:18

One daughter is still waiting for their daughter to go to sleep 😳. She is nine years old and too excited.

cadburyegg · 25/12/2025 00:28

OMG he’s still awake. I’m going to stealthily do his stocking then lie in his room

I've just sneaked in and exchanged empty sock for full sock now.

LurcherMumma · 25/12/2025 00:34

My 2 y/o miraculously asleep at 9:30. Baby asleep on me but won't be put down. Gassy I think. Just need to get baby down before toddler wakes up or no sleep for me hahaha...

Magicpaintbrush · 25/12/2025 00:37

When DD was about 13 we agreed to start putting her stocking on the fireplace instead of at the end of her bed - she's now 16 and how I wish I'd done that from the beginning! Sneaking into her bedroom to put the filled up stocking on her bed was always the most stressful 30 seconds of the year, worrying she would wake up! Now not only do I not have to worry about that, I don't even have to wait for her to actually be asleep, she just has to be in bed. Happy days!

Cheezewizz · 25/12/2025 00:40

Still waiting for my son to go to sleep so Santa can stop by! Can’t leave stocking in living room as it’s very likely he will get out of bed again

Mummylove1977 · 25/12/2025 00:49

Omg almost 1am and 7 yo still awake

WhyItsXmas · 25/12/2025 00:50

Just managed to fill dc stockings but my word it was stressful!
Eldest (14)doesn’t believe but I still like to keep it going. For some bizarre reason I decided to fill the stocking in their room. They stayed asleep (or did a good job of pretending) and I held my breath whilst trying to silently place a bag of the noisiest sweets in.

Younger dc were asleep and I did the same, a bit easier that time. Although when I lifted the stocking it all fell to the bottom and made a loud noise.

Next year I will suggest we leave them outside the bedroom. Definitely the most stressful part of Christmas for me.

@feathers7 mine are 16, 19 and 22 and I’ve just done the drop. 🧑‍🎄

When do you stop doing stockings?

I am 42 and DSis is 50...our Mum hasn't stopped yet!

Love all the effort everyone is making to keep the magic alive 🥰

Hope everyone's elf missions are successful, and some sleep is had, and you have wonderful Christmases

cadburyegg · 25/12/2025 00:51

Managed to fill but I think he might still have been awake 😬 we’ve had a good run anyway

Also, good luck to all of you still waiting up. I know it feels excruciating knowing you will probably be up in a few hours, but it’s a lovely memory your children will remember when they see their filled stockings.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 25/12/2025 00:53

16yo & 13yo DDs are asleep. 14yo DS is still awake.

Hung stockings on door handles but haven't taken gifts downstairs yet.

Princesspollyyy · 25/12/2025 00:57

Mine will be up late (teens), so I set the alarm for 5am and I’ll do the stockings then, and then go back to bed.

BackToRealitySigh · 25/12/2025 01:01

Just climbed into bed having done mine. Dd2 (11) is deaf so once her hearing aids are out easy peasy.
Dd1 (14) had to sneak her stocking off her door handle, fill it up ib the bathroom so I didn't have the hall light on then the worst part - getting it back on 😱😱

AllTheChaos · 25/12/2025 01:05

I think I might have just been caught! Quickly shoved it under her bed and said I’d heard something funny so came to check on her. She burst into tears and made me promise I don’t do the stocking. I feel terrible, but also like 1am with a sobbing child is not not the time to be having that conversation. Trouble is she doesn’t just fall asleep late, she will be up at 6am, so my window is small!

LamentableShoes · 25/12/2025 01:06

Ffs been waiting all night for ds11 to go to sleep... dh just chanced it and he's still awake! He's long past believing though. Should've just done it an hour ago and got another hour's sleep for ourselves!

Theghostofchristmasarse · 25/12/2025 01:06

DS, 10, still believes, he's autistic and being assessed for ADHD, he's currently asleep in my bed, like a frigging starfish, after crying for an hour because he couldn't sleep and was worried father Christmas wouldn't come. I've told him I do the magic, gather Christmas just does the stocking and when you get to a certain age,ums do the magic entirely... Hoping to not have him still believing next year after he starts secondary school, he's so sensitive, I can imagine him getting bullied for it.

I'm finally done with everything, hosting for my folks and my two, before driving for two hours to drop them off at their dads. Last year I got to sleep at 2 and he woke up at 4🤦😭

piscofrisco · 25/12/2025 01:08

I miss these days. Mine are 18 and 20 and im up waiting for them to get home safe from their nights out

Inmychristmasera · 25/12/2025 01:15

We’ve just come to bed. Dd12 fell asleep at 11.45 😱 she still believes which I am delighted about but also very sad about as it means this is definitely the final year.

DD15 is still awake and reading so her stocking has been plonked at her bedroom door. If I go to the loo during the night I will pop it at the end of her bed.

I still get so excited! But tomorrow is a long day so need to try and get to sleep.

usedtobeaylis · 25/12/2025 01:17

My 10 year old isn't long asleep, too excited. She doesn't even believe in Santa any more!

bleakmidwintering · 25/12/2025 02:34
