I have two people left to buy for and I cannot think of anything to get them. They are always the most difficult people to buy for but for different reasons.

  1. woman, early 50s, very trendy, loves designer, buys whatever she wants when she wants. No hobbies. Doesn’t really drink alcohol and isn’t a huge foodie either.

  2. man, early 50s, not trendy and wouldn’t appreciate the designer/ more expensive items, doesn’t drink alcohol, doesn’t eat chocolate or anything “unhealthy”, no hobbies but enjoys walking the dog.

What’s the budget?

Sorry, that is an obvious key detail! 1) £100 and 2) £50

Vouchers !

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 20/12/2025 20:10

I’d buy some clothes for number 2 from primark or somewhere for dog walking or similar

For nos 2, items for the dog, shampoo, dog treats, new lead or coat if it wears them. Perhaps a wooly hat, scarf, gloves for the owner for those chilly dog walks.

The4thSister · 20/12/2025 20:28

I bought my BIL, very similar description to yours, a hat with a LED light on the front for dog walking. It was meant to be a novelty gift and was a panic buy, but he raves about it and has asked for a different colour this year. Saves holding a torch when out with the dog :) can get them most places for under a tenner

Heyhelga · 20/12/2025 20:30

Can't go too far wrong with some nice perfume and cologne.

Ilovemychocolate · 20/12/2025 20:32

No 1 White Company home stuff/candles etc
High end brand and fabulous quality x

CharnwoodFire · 20/12/2025 20:43

No 1 - I was going to suggest an Elizabeth Scarlet washbag but they're sold out.
Then I was going to say look down the David Austen website, but plants might not be their thing.
What about a solid silver stacking bangle? And nice hand cream.
No 2 - petzl bindi headtourch

1 Fortnum & Mason umbrella and a colour-matched silk scarf, or a fun, impractical but good quality purse or clutch (TK Maxx might be a good bet)

2 Waxed cotton hat, Lumilight (hat with built in torch), or a book of local circular or interesting walks.

I have actually spoilt the dog 😂 I’ll try and find some decent hats/ gloves, I think they would be useful.

She would not be seen dead in a silk scarf and I don’t think I could buy a nice bag she would use for £100.

I bought 2) that light up hat for his birthday 😂

1 A subscription to a luxe magazine like Kinfolk or World of Interiors or something.
2 Wireless headphones for dog walk

Edited

He doesn’t have a smart phone so I don’t think earphones would be any good. That’s the perfect gift otherwise 🤦🏽‍♀️

A gilet of whatever type he might wear for the dog walker

For the first, something home decor? A cashmere throw? Beautiful vase or stylish garden lantern?

TiredofLDN · 20/12/2025 21:29

For Number 2, what about a heated gilet? The ones that charge up?

TiredofLDN · 20/12/2025 21:30

The trick with number 1, I feel, is to splash on an accessory from a higher end label. It shows you understand her tastes, and have thought carefully about something she will genuinely like/ use.

ThatMintMember · 20/12/2025 22:41

Posh smellies and candle for number 1. A cheese, crackers and pickle hamper for number 2.

mondaytosunday · 20/12/2025 22:50

How about a nice leather dog collar for number 2. Number one I’d get her a scarf from Liberty’s - there’s a selection available for £95.

pizzaHeart · 20/12/2025 22:51

Theatre tickets for number 1.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 20/12/2025 22:56

Are they a couple? Spa day, couples massage, meal vouchers, tickets to an event, show etc..

No, they are not a couple, thank God as they are chalk and cheese in every single way 😂

Tricky with no.2 because he’s single and won’t go anywhere by himself. As in, doesn’t see the value of attending events by himself! I bought him vouchers for a lovely local restaurant and he never used them because he didn’t fancy going and sitting alone.

I do have some good ideas so far but no.1 is so fussy, it’s almost not worth the risk buying anything. I think I’ll get her a voucher which does feel like a cop out but equally, I know she did use the voucher I bought her last year!
