I absolutely cannot wait to see DS6 & DS9 open their main gifts from us. DS6 is getting a space-themed indoor Wendy House & DS9 will be getting a Switch 2. They will both be so thrilled and so surprised!!

What about you?

The moment when it all stops, we close the door on Christmas Eve and it's just us. The house is full of food, the fairy lights are on, no work to do, it's getting dark outside, the fire's lit, we open a bottle and put a Christmassy film on.

Wendy house sounds delightful. I loved mine as a child.

Mine is setting up the dining room - it’s going to look so good.

Not having to work. Literally on my knees at this point with exhaustion. I am so looking forward to downing tools on Friday evening for a full 9 days off work. Come Friday I will have something else I will be excited for but I need to log out of work first.

Finishing work on the 23rd, coming home and having a glass of bubbly and watching a Christmas movie with my youngest DS.
A nice, lazy Christmas eve. Just pottering and then our traditional afternoon beach dog walk stopping at our favourite bar on the way home for tea and a couple of drinks.
Seeing the kids open all their presents, then having a long soak in fancy bath bubbles while DH cooks dinner.
My best friend and her family arriving on boxing day. Can’t wait for all of that.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 15/12/2025 17:13

Can’t wait for the kids faces when they see all their presents. Can’t wait to get our fired mugs back and make hot chocolate in them on Christmas Eve. I am excited for all of it!

fishfingerbutty · 15/12/2025 17:13

Going home after my 15 hour nurse shift on Christmas Day.
Time to relax then.

frozendaisy · 15/12/2025 17:13

When the eldest gets home from college on Friday and it starts to really feel Christmas - no pressing homework or revision and Christmas themed movies will finally be permitted!

We will still have jobs and things to buy/collect but it’s more fun when it’s part of/the whole team!

Livingthedream1978 · 15/12/2025 17:15

I love Christmas Eve now the kids are older. We have a posh snacky tea, a few drinks and play games, listen to music and laugh a lot!

I also love seeing them open their presents on Christmas morning.

Driving to a remote cottage by the sea on Xmas eve. No fuss, no expectation, no hosting. Just the 2 of us

All of the above, plus my DH works until 6pm on Christmas Eve. He works from home so that moment he steps out of his office and his 'out of office' goes on it feels like heaven.

Everyone is happy, everyone is in a good mood. Spirits are high, the wine is flowing, the Xmas dinner prep is done and all we have to do for the next couple of days is be together. Absolute bliss.

mumonthehill · 15/12/2025 17:28

Seeing ds on the 23rd who have not seen since august, sitting with food and wine by the fire and chatting.

CheeseNinja · 15/12/2025 17:29

Christmas Eve! The excitement on the kids faces.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 15/12/2025 17:31

all of it. Particular highlights: Christmas music concert this eeek, opening presents, very fancy Christmas lunch, peace and quiet at home for two days.

First post nailed it! This year I am particularly looking forward to having DS(19) home with us as he has been away at uni since September. That and plenty of reading by the light of the Christmas tree.

Christmas Eve 9 Lessons and Carols- when our lead soprano sings the solo to start ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ - that starts Christmas for me. Shops are shut, what’s forgotten is forgotten and I’m looking forward to being with DH and DCs for Christmas.

Heluvathing · 15/12/2025 17:58

I’m very much looking forward to it being over. Cleaning the house and putting the tree away. I hate the whole thing these days.

narcASD · 15/12/2025 18:00

Seeing kids open presents, Eating out Christmas Day, being hosted Boxing Day and no work for 2 weeks

CharlieEffie · 15/12/2025 18:03

cadburygorilla · 15/12/2025 18:12

Going to our packed church on Christmas Eve and singing carols with the villagers and seeing the nativity, the real meaning of Christmas

Greendiamondbee · 15/12/2025 18:28

A slower pace for the week, memories made with my family and easing off the diet.

hexsnidgett · 15/12/2025 18:32

Boxing day, is always the best part for me.

Anxietybummer · 15/12/2025 20:46

To see her little face Christmas morning when she sees Santa has been! I couldn’t be more excited.

coronafiona · 15/12/2025 21:08

kids and their stockings. They’re too old to believe now but it’s still the best part of it all for me.

Good lord, what nursing do you do! Only ever heard of a 12 hour shift.

Good lord, what nursing do you do! Only ever heard of a 12 hour shift.

It’s a regular hospital shift: 7am until 9.30 pm, but usually half an hour late finishing.
I should think it’s similar in other hospitals.
