Sooo other than a bracelet and some Lego I'm stumped. She likes art, crafts, music and books. But everything art wise looks too young or too mature and boring. Tips needed please!!

My daughter loved drawing and painting around that age. I got her a variety of sketch or painting pads, various pencils, chalks, charcoal etc as well as nice quality paints. Definitely worth getting good quality things as the stuff marketed towards children isn't so good.

Whittling knife/pyrography kit/calligraphy set with ink and a quill pen. Rag rug kit. Dungeons and Dragons. Other board games, look them up here or Board Game Geeks. Beading jewellery kit/classes (my DD got really in to this at that age, so intricate looking but apparently pretty easy and relaxing too, she could even stay a wee Etsy Shop of her own!))

Sorry to hi jack this thread but I was wondering for those that said clothes, what clothes have you bought? I don't know what they all want to wear this year. Are white fox hoodies still popular?

DeathMetalMum · 14/12/2025 18:26

Dd2 has had posca pens, oil pastels, water colours over the last few years. This year she has some acrylic paints, and some new brushes.

Does she need any new tech? Dd1 is getting some over ear headphones, she's decided to ditch her ear buds recently. Does she like puzzles? Maybe a puzzle mat or new puzzle.

What about a sewing machine?

Bergmum · 14/12/2025 19:54

I bought my 12 year old a selection of acrylic and watercolour paints, new brushes and a sketchbook.
Fluffy slippers, some hair accessories she would also like a baking cookbook

A c.d. player/record player and an amazing vinyl that she’ll love.

A photo of her and someone she loves.

A photo washing line for her room and a polaroid camera to snap picks and peg them on the line.

A diary with a lock

A Soda stream

Similar 13 year old is getting an electric guitar and secondhand amp, a waterproof top with no hood or zips for new hobby of rugby, Abba biography and Abba activity book(!), 3D puzzle, the Traitors book, gymshark leggings that were on sale, a Rockschool piano book which has some songs she likes at her grade level, Blur and Oasis t-shirts.

This isn't all from us. Some is from other relatives who have asked what she'd like.

In an ideal world she'd also like converse, a guitar stand and anything like an iPad or laptop. She's also gone to a lace making club a few times and I think it's a lovely hobby for this age group but probably best with a bit of tuition to start with rather than self teaching.

Good on your daughter. All the skincare and clothes lists seem so boring.

My teen has asked for one of these - if they're into Lego & books

My daughter has a similar thing and really enjoys it. If she likes very fiddly things she'll love it.

A monthly subscription from Scrawlrbox - they are great!

ilovesushi · 14/12/2025 22:34

I got a couple of horse riding lessons for my DD at about that age. I made some home made vouchers. She was absolutely over the moon. She does a different hobby and rides very rarely but loves it when she does. Sewing machine? Tickets to a show? Fairy lights for her bedroom?

User1123453566932 · 14/12/2025 22:43

White salt lamps are v popular with my 13yr old and her friends as are jellycats

For her birthday she got one of these and loves printing photos from her phone with it - one of her most used items! If you shop around you can get cheaper than this and different colours - I got hers for about £60

Lego , journalling bits like stickers, pens , scrapbook.
waterbottle , vinyl player if she likes music , poloroid camera

captainoctopus · 14/12/2025 23:22

Fimo. It's a polymer modelling clay.
I bought some for my DD when she was about that age. Both my kids would make gifts for the family with it. One of her friends used to play with it too when she visited - she continued with the hobby and now, as an adult, makes extra money selling her models and jewellery. Too cutesy for my taste, but she's very skilled.

I think you may have my daughter!
In addition to stuff that’s been mentioned she’s getting a card game, a “voucher” for a day out she loves for her and an adult, and a watch of a character she likes .

I was wondering about a kindle book reader but must admit also enjoy seeing her reading paper back still..but definitely a good idea

My DS has a kindle, he uses it for day to day reading and if he is fond of a book we will then buy a physical copy. Helps keep the book shelf from bursting and he now has a lovely selection of his favourite books I print whilst also being able to explore new books.

justanothermanicmonday1 · 15/12/2025 01:17

Ohuhu alcohol markers or arrtix. Pricey but could be a main present. And some cozy colouring books!

Willowback · 15/12/2025 01:29

My dd13 is also getting an electric guitar with amp and a greenday song book. Books and clothes. My mum has got her the lego mini plant collection.

Fancy pens. A massive set of Sharpies, or some Posca pens, or some good quality fine liners. Get the branded ones because, sorry to say, they're much better and for someone who enjoys using them the knock offs are a heartsink gift because they're always shit quality.

Good quality spiral bound sketchbook.

This!

WallTree · 15/12/2025 07:03

A Book Nook is a great present for a crafty teen (or adult!).

White fox are out apparently, my 12 year old said they are very 2024

Litlit · 15/12/2025 08:08

I've made my DD baking themed gift boxes in the past, last year I bought an oven mini donut sheet pan and a donut recipe book, with a selection of sprinkles/toppers and good quality gel food colourings and she's made some fabulous bakes this year.

I've bought a mini waffle maker this year. Could do a similar theme with a popcorn maker, candy floss maker, chocolate fountain, smoothie blender, ice cream maker, slushie machine as the main gift. If you dress it in a pretty hamper with the trimmings wrapped up beautifully it makes a lovely gift.
