Anyone suggest any nice christmassy romcoms to watch - not cheesy hallmarks (which I also love, but not looking for that right now). Am thinking things like The Holiday and Love Actually.
Thanks

I’ve watched Our little secret, A Merry Little Xmas, Holidate and Last Christmas in the last few weeks and enjoyed them. I agree that The Family Stone is a good one.

Another vote for The Family Stone! Funny, heartwarming & poignant. I’m introducing my daughter to it this year!

Ive not seen it myself but last month both Red magazine and the Mirror recommended The Bishops Wife which The Preachers Wife is a remake of.

Love this film

Man Up is epic on so many levels, glad to see it recommended here.

The Family Stone with Diane Keaton, SKP and Claire Danes. Love it!

A slightly divisive choice I'd say, though I did enjoy (most of) it!

AncientAtiny · 04/12/2025 06:49

Lovehard is good

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/12/2025 06:49

Definitely the Holidate

Iocanepowder · 04/12/2025 06:54

A Castle for Christmas on Netflix. I found the plot quite unique compared to the typical ‘hey let’s bake xmas cookies together’ in every other Hallmark type film.

Champagne Problems

I’m not really into romcoms but really enjoyed Last Christmas.

eekwhatnow · 04/12/2025 07:55

Let it Snow really surprised me last year. Genuinely a good film.

DallasMajor · 04/12/2025 07:59

Agree that Love Hard is good, I wasn't expecting it to be so.

The Christmas Prince set on Netflixs is awful in reality but if you need some daft easy escapism it passes the time quite pleasantly.

Thanks for the family stone recommendations I will try that

Turnitoffnonagain · 04/12/2025 08:01

Last Christmas is really good. Especially if you like George Michael.
The new Michelle Pfieffer one on Netflix - i only lasted 10 minutes. Awful. Maybe my age though, 🤔

Plan2025 · 04/12/2025 08:04

Another vote for Love hard!

ConnieHeart · 04/12/2025 08:21

I like the look of the new Christmas film with Keifer Sutherland, Tinsel Town

CornedBeef451 · 04/12/2025 08:36

I really like Christmas with the Coopers, Holidate and Christmas Office Party. The last one is not exactly a romcom but there is romance and it’s very funny.

PandoraSocks · 04/12/2025 08:44

The Apartment.

Eta: the 1960 film. I think there might be another recent film with the same name.

Daughterofthesea · 04/12/2025 08:54

‘Home for Christmas’ series on Netflix

I also love Christmas with the Coopers.

All star cast - Diane Keaton and the wonderful Alan Arkin in particular. Similar vibe to the Family Stone but warmer imo.

We turned it off after 15 minutes, it was excruciatingly awful (and that's from someone who has watched all the Christmas Prince films)
