What would I like for Xmas £20 budget?

We only do small presents and I’ve been asked what I’d like but it’s not as easy as it sounds.

The giver doesn’t have access to many decent shops, they will shop online but only really on Amazon.

I’m really stumped for what to suggest - the obvious idea is books but I usually read on Kindle. Most of the other things I’d like are over budget. Practical things like a calendar are already sorted.

What on Earth can I suggest?

Love the idea of the watches - where do you get them from?

There's a few for a tenner currently at Argos (I love Argos! Know exactly what your dealing with - no messing around, ever!)

A hot water bottle or some of the crispy Amaretti biscuits

Nuxe reve de miel lip balm in the glass pot with a brown lid. Brilliant stuff.
Houseplant in nice pot.

Thanks for this recommendation, just ordered it for presents

Nice warm gloves

TK Maxx on line, as they sell the lovely Italian soaps and some great 1 litre bottles of Italian body wash, currently using the Vanilla / Coconut one.

Jigsaw puzzle

or a smaller game (some good fun card games) if you play games with others (Sussed is fun)

twisting nutcracker if you like eating shelled nuts

cookbook - I know you said you prefer kindle but cookbooks are easier on paper I think

PermanentTemporary · 29/11/2025 09:00

Microwaveable wheat bag (I’ve become nervous of hot water bottles)

Body Shop hemp hand cream. Such a winner.

DiscoBeat · 29/11/2025 09:01

A rose for the garden or a bottle of English bubbly

There are loads on Amazon, digital and clock face analog ones.

I kind of agree it’s a bit pointless especially as thinking of something to suggest is stressing me out! But it’s important to them to do it 😩

Bit like the traditional breakfast in bed served by a small child. Receiving the gift also takes effort sometimes!

@Flummoxedpebble do they go holey quickly? I like the look of them.

I had the thick Ida set. Have had them for 2/3 winters and worn them hard! I used 3 pairs first, and they are now holey. I’m using the 2 pairs I kept in the back of my drawer this winter. I have never had socks wear so well tbh.
I did try imitation Nordic socks from Amazon last year - awful, so do make sure it’s the proper ones.

CarrieMoonbeams · 29/11/2025 09:48

I've just had the same request from an elderly relative, she doesn't know what to get for me but really wants to get me something. £20 is a decent amount I think, there's loads I could suggest for that.

I asked for a bug hotel and a small box of Çerez Pazan Turkish Delight - I appreciate they're not to everyone's taste but I'll be delighted to receive them.

familyissues12345 · 29/11/2025 09:59

I don’t know how expensive they are, but I’d ask for one of those self watering houseplants, they’re really clever (for useless houseplant owners like me) as they have a special reservoir in the bottom of the pot, that feeds the plant at a set rate depending on how much water they require.

Moisturiser, body lotion e.g. body shop, shower gel, gloves, scarf, kindle cover, craft kit.

WithIcePlease · 29/11/2025 10:03

Hiking socks.
I've given up on normal socks completely now but some are over £20 a pair

reluctantbrit · 29/11/2025 10:05

I would go for my absolute favourite book and ask for a paper copy.

Any quirky cooking/baking utensil or cooking/baking book?

TheSmallAssassin · 29/11/2025 10:06

@CoastalGrey You can buy a specific Kindle book for someone on Amazon - that's usually what my son does for his presents to me, it feels more like a gift than sending me a voucher and me having to buy the book myself.

Thankyou for this , I’ve just bought a couple as stocking fillers

CoastalGrey · 29/11/2025 16:50

@Theraffarian funnily enough I've got that on my list for the same person as I know they’d enjoy it!

I think they’d like the idea of getting me a cookbook but I tend to just Google recipes. I wondered what the new Mary Berry one is like - does anyone have it?
