He’s into sports, he runs (now and again!), he’s 44… Any ideas? Either for one gift or a couple of cheaper ones. This is max budget.

What's wrong with you? How is your post remotely helpful? My budget for DH is £10 do you want to make a snide comment about that as well?

What sports is he in to? Do you mean watching or playing? If he likes football a mystery shirt could be an idea? Or for running how about some good waterproof running gloves or something reflective for running in the dark?

OH GO AWAY GRINCH!

DH and I have a budget of £30 each. We would rather spend more on other things like treats and food. Some people have more some less. If you can’t say anything nice, go away!

vincettenoir · 16/11/2025 18:22

You could buy a long sleeved running top for £40. Or maybe some sports shorts or some sunnies (if he doesn’t need prescription ones). Or maybe a dressing gown if he needs a new one.

MidnightPatrol · 16/11/2025 18:24

Does he listen to music when he runs?

You could get some Bluetooth headphones for £40.

Orchidflower1 · 16/11/2025 18:24

@toadstool32 I’m thinking of getting DH syrups and a nice keep warm mug for his coffees. It will stretch the budget a bit further.

Does your DH have a favourite drink or snack you could get extras for to make it special? My sister is getting her DH a reading light for his book and posh biscuits as he likes to read with a cuppa and biscuit. Her budget is similar to ours.

Superdrug do a small atomiser that they fill with any fragrance for £7.99. I got one today for DP with his favourite BOSS aftershave, it’s perfect for travelling and you can refill it yourself once it’s empty

Arregaithel · 16/11/2025 18:28

@toadstool32 fleece jacket 11.99 with STOMP20 code

There are a few other offers at Mountain Warehouse £13.59 with SAVE20

GreatFinch · 16/11/2025 18:33

Have a look on sportsshoes.com outlet for running stuff, plenty of bits for a fiver.

Whatisityoucantface · 16/11/2025 18:46

Really good running socks - sealskinz, they do good running/gym tops too
Does he read? Could get a book/ autobiography of someone
Magazine subscriptions also always on offer eg runner world, men’s fitness or something. I bet you could get 6months for £40 no problem
Or just pop into RunnerWorld or a similar shop and ask for some gift advice within your budget!

Wow, what’s wrong with some people? The comments have been deleted but I can only imagine the messages.

Times are tough - for some of us.

oustedbymymate · 16/11/2025 20:53

Running top? Lights for running in dark? Nice travel mug.

sport mag subscription

nice coffee if he drinks it?

running socks (never can have too many pairs)

Benjithedog · 16/11/2025 20:56

If you are going to order any presents online ALWAYS look for a discount code /promotional code first before buying as they can really make a difference.

slipperypenguin · 17/11/2025 00:01

I’d go for a running hydration vest which you can pick up for about £20 on amazon. Good for storing phone and drinks when running. Then you will have some budget for something else non running related. I’d maybe get Jim’s. Couple of his favourite chocolates and/or beers if he likes stuff like that? You could pad it out with a “voucher” for a massage or something else as well at home

IBorAlevels · 17/11/2025 00:23

One of the cheapest gifts that went down well was a thermos, on discount on Amazon for hot food - ex took it in to work daily. Was about £20 I think.

My dad likes puzzle books so I get him one each year which is cheap and lasts a while. Also got him one of those proper razors you get blades, a brush and a block of shaving soap which was about £20 all together which went down well. Good if they have strong stubble that dulls average razors quickly.

Imbluedalale · 17/11/2025 00:42

I’ve just had a look OP. And I came across these ideas :
Custom shoe tags
3D running mileage tracker
Amethyst crystal -means focus , determination, inner strength
Foot soak
Running journal
personalised water bottle
LED running vest

Not on the high street have a running tea gift set for £9.99 and you pick different flavour tea bags and each one is individually wrapped with an inspirational quote on.

Epic runs of the world book

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/11/2025 00:42

I've just got my DH an MP3 player for £30.

RedTagAlan · 17/11/2025 01:15

How about something to expand his running ?

An OS large scale map of your area. and a compass. Kit him out for a move towards orienteering.

Maybe better, some stuff for geocaching. That is a good way to expand running. Give his running a target. I just had a look on Amazon, and they have stuff.

Google Geocaching. I just did, and there are 1527 caches in the area where I am, and that's a non uk city.

That's a lot of potential runs to plan and set out on. Sat at a table, map laid out, planning routes.

You could but some cheap little trinkets to cache, see how long it takes to come across them again.

TheCurious0range · 17/11/2025 01:35

I just got DH some gym clothes from gym shark they've got a good sale on and you can top it up with 12% bluelight if you have it or know someone who does. I got him a short sleeve and long sleeve training top, pair of gym trousers/joggers and a 5 pack of socks for £50 , they had a fair amount of running gear on there you could definitely do well for £40

mummyof2boys30 · 17/11/2025 05:11

provis do some great running gear and usually have some great black friday deals

Bjorkdidit · 17/11/2025 06:18

Going against the grain, I'd not get something to be used/worn while running, because wouldn't he want to choose his own things according to his needs and preferences?

Think about whatever you're into and how you'd feel if someone bought you something that didn't fit, had the wrong features or was in a colour you hated?

Plus if he wants/needs something he'd just buy it when he wanted it and has chosen which one he wants and found the best price.

If he drinks alcohol what about a nice bottle spirits, something a step up from the usual mainstream brand? Plus maybe some nice nuts or chocolate if he eats it? Or a coffee table type book?

Highlighta · 17/11/2025 07:22

If he only runs now and again, I wouldn't focus his present on just that.

If I am running out of ideas, I tend to go with a (what I call) a lucky dip present. So a few small things into one gift bag.

So I would do things like sweets, a favorite chocolate (or even a nice expensive one that wouldn't usually get bought), some nice shaving stuff, beard oil (if he has one) , nice socks, a book if he reads, whiskey glass, shoe horn, a nice pen if he uses one for work etc etc.

I am from a very male dominated family, and I have found that men like presents that are are things that they need or like, but wouldn't really buy for themselves. And then there is the thoughtful side of it which I think does not go unnoticed as you have taken time to get bits and pieces. And there is more to open. Which always goes down well imo.

Rituelec · 17/11/2025 07:25

£40 is my budget for husband too. So far he just has socks 😆
