bondsy · 12/11/2025 12:42

I am responsible for creating a hot chocolate station at the family Xmas get together.

i am wondering if anybody has seen any good add ons lately? for example

chocolate spoons
xmas sprinkles
xmas marshmallows
any sauces to drizzle

im thinking maybe places like B&M might be best

Whipped cream
Flakes crumbled on
Malteser reindeers
Liqueurs for adults

Forgottenmyphone · 12/11/2025 12:58

I’ve seen Bailey’s squirty cream in bath Sainsbury’s and Tesco, and Christmas tree marshmallows in Aldi

Shadeelane · 12/11/2025 13:01

Dunkers. Like mini twix for example.

IsThisLifeNow · 12/11/2025 13:03

I saw christmas tree shaped mini marshmallows in the asda magazine too, very cute and I know my kids would love them.

MaplePumpkin · 12/11/2025 13:05

Oo this is getting me excited for Christmas!

You can get gingerbread man “mug huggers” that are cute, I’ve seen them in a garden centre.

Also glacier cherries and pretzels to create a Rudolph effect on top of the whipped cream. So like one cherry for his red nose and two pretzels for ears.

Aldi are doing hot choc stirrers in festive flavours like chocolate orange and salted caramel.

Please send us pics once you’ve done it!

Don’t chocolate spoons actually make the hot chocolate when added to milk ? Having them with already mixed hot chocolate would be overkill

Mini gingerbread men for sure

petermaddog · 12/11/2025 13:08

You get the chocolate flavour squirty cream now too but not tried it.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 12/11/2025 13:09

Grated ginger
Grated orange rind

Dorkwillow · 12/11/2025 13:12

If you stir it with a candy cane it makes it mint chocolate it’s really nice! You can hook the mini ones on the side of your cup

Hi there sounds messy but fun!
And that used to be my specialty at Christmas party get togethers.
Stuff that was unnecessary, but memorable lol.
Google "party hot chocolate station" and all kinds of ideas with photos come up!
Ideas for how to set up, clean up, and what kind of add-ins to try, how to properly label everything, etc.

What I'm trying to figure something out, it's nice to ask real people, then I do a couple of Google searches for ideas, I get wowed by the professional looking photos and then I put on my "realistically tinted glasses," and figure how am I actually going to do this for the space I have for the time I have for the money I have for the effort that I have to put into this, how can I do this not to be social media photo perfect, but what's going to work for my gathering.

And you know what? It's not always the hit of the party, but it's often remembered. You'll have fun doing it, and people will enjoy temporarily spiking their blood sugar lol.

I've hosted at least 30 Christmas gatherings in the past 20 years with no fewer than 75 in attendance each time, ages ranging from tiny tots to senior seniors, it's a challenge, but it's always fun.
Hope this helps!

These look amazing! You’ve really inspired me to do one of these this year, we are hosting Christmas for the first time so think it would be lovely in the afternoon!!

'Sprinkles' - from the baking aisle, I found some cute little stars etc last year (usually used to decorate cakes).

101SpottyDogs · 12/11/2025 16:26

Syrups. My kids (and me!) love peopermint

ChristmasMad1 · 12/11/2025 16:30

Does anyone know where I can get some cheap syrups for hot chocolate ?

Alongthetowpath · 12/11/2025 16:46

We buy cheap candy canes and bash them up in a freezer bag with a rolling pin to make peppermint and strawberry shards to sprinkle.

I sometimes do the same with Crunchie bars, and Biscoff biscuits but I’d do those fresh each time or they lose their crunch.

evilharpy · 12/11/2025 17:15

This might be more effort than you can be arsed with but these are very easy to make if you have the cutters and everyone always loves them, and they look very cute if you display a batch of them like a little village.

i have a coffee kiosk and do loads of hot chocolates. I use Cadbury’s hot choc, stirred into an inch of boiling water and then topped off with steamed milk. Squirty cream on top then add either chocolate dust or flakes or festive sprinkles (you’ll find them in the baking aisle of the supermarket). You’ll find coffee syrups on eBay that work well in hot choc too. My top sellers are - gingerbread syrup (add squirty cream and a couple of mini gingerbread men on top). Mint syrup - add squirty cream and either mint aero bubbles or crushed candy cane. Orange syrup - add squirty cream and mini choc orange slices. Caramel syrup - add squirty cream and broken Biscoff biscuits. Malteaser reindeer look good too, as do Milky Way chocolate stars. Oreo go down well too, and Bueno with hazelnut syrup.

Amaretto, rum, Malibu, kirsch, brandy, whisky, Frangelico.

Job done.

vincettenoir · 12/11/2025 17:28

Btw I always add a little salt when warming hot chocolate. It makes it tastier.

thesnailandthewhale · 12/11/2025 17:34

My favourite hot chocolate addition:

You can use the ones they sell for coffee.
