I'm not talking about Christmas dinner. We don't buy much more than our usual shop but we do have;

A sleekster box of hotel chocolat to open on boxing day. I will still have some left in February
DD and I share some special vegan cheeses
Bizarrely I always get a fancy granola

I honestly can't think of anything else. Perhaps we are a bit unimaginative but if we fancied anything we would get it.
Curious about others treats and favourites.

Crisps - especially Lidl lobster cocktail
Pretzels
Crackers for cheese
Basically anything Savoury except pringles DD eats those for me.

RoyalImpatience · 03/11/2025 19:26

@PrincessHoneysuckle well...we did get a borders box actually and they were delicious esp the red wrapped biscuits however ...compared to this other box the borders were like ,Macdonalds

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 03/11/2025 19:57

Yes to the Bittermints. (I may buy 3 boxes when they are on offer) Port- for the red cabbage you know. Florentines. Used to be fancy nuts but they don't agree with dhs guts anymore. A metric fuckton of cheese. The treacle cured bacon our local butcher makes for breakfast butties.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 03/11/2025 19:59

Does everyone know that a tin of Merry Jelly Munch is 3 quid more than the refill bags of the same weight?

SixthWorstOption · 03/11/2025 20:02

No-one's mentioned brandy snaps yet!

RhymeOrRaisin · 03/11/2025 20:03

Brandy snaps and cream! Amaretto

I like the marks and Spencer very merry munch but beyond that we are savory so crisps and dips, cheese board and party food. Quite like homemade soup, party food, biscuits and cheese and a bottle of Prosecco on the days we are home.

I try not to go overboard and keep it to a minimum so we don’t have loads left running into January.

I was so disappointed with the merry munch.
I love a nice big bar of fridge cold Tony's choccoloney and Lidls dark chocolate with raspberry (which is a total bargain).
Also love a big bowl of homemade trifle.

Sassylovesbooks · 03/11/2025 21:33

Ferrero Rocher chocolates, I absolutely adore them! Shortbread biscuits - I'm not fussed on the brand but must be all butter. I buy crackers and I love brie at Christmas time. Instead of Christmas pudding, I make melt-in-the-middle individual chocolate puddings with a Lindor in the centre of each one. Even if I say so myself, they are devine!

JudgeBread · 03/11/2025 21:36

Stollen and lebkuchen. I can't have either in the house because I will eat all of them.

Arrrrrrragghhh · 03/11/2025 21:45

Pork pie with cranberries on the top.
Smoked salmon
Mince pies - boxes of them
Baileys (although I am feeling I might have outgrown this now - last year we seemed to drink it non stop).

Crikeyalmighty · 03/11/2025 21:50

Things I buy only at Christmas- figs, dates, tuc biscuits, blue Stilton,

Edwinstarrihavefaithinyou · 03/11/2025 23:27

Borders dark chocolate ginger biscuits.
Puff pastry Xmas pies(always a bit controversial).

purpleflowergirl · 03/11/2025 23:30

@StewkeyBlueBendicks bittermints all the way @mmgirishand a tin of Belgium biscuits are incredible too

purpleflowergirl · 03/11/2025 23:31

@Ohwhatfuckeryitistorideyou sound like my Christmas treat twin haha

AlexaBeQuiet · 03/11/2025 23:40

After Eights
Terrys Chocolate Orange
Tin of M&S Shortbread Biscuits
Baileys
Cheese
Lindt White Chocolate Balls
Champagne
Homemade Puff Pastry Sausage Rolls
Been saving M&S vouchers all year, so gonna splurge in M&S for Xmas this year. Sorry Waitrose

ExitPursuedByABare · 03/11/2025 23:43

Rose and violet cremes.

clary · 03/11/2025 23:53

ooooh.

I make a giant (really big) chocolate raspberry trifle – it's basically Nigella's choc cherry trifle recipe out of Feast but halved (hers must be HUGE) and raspberries as I am not a fan of cherries.

It is pretty easy except I have to make a chocolate custard (cream, eggs, chocolate) which needs to be stirred over a low heat for ages. OMG it is the most delicious thing ever ever. In fact I am tempted just to make the custard and then just eat it.

I have stopped making mince pies as only I ate them and I chucked loads away last time I made them. Might not even make a Chr cake this year as no one really likes it except me and I don't want to be eating a whole Chr cake.

But the chocolate custard.... oh yes.

clary · 03/11/2025 23:55

I have a Christmas fruit bowl with easy peelers, although it also contains Ferrero Roche and Lindt balls :-)

I like your style @StrumpersPlunkett

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 04/11/2025 00:04

I love homemade mincemeat filled mince pies with homemade brandy butter

I cook from scratch a lot generally so I like a few shop bought treats at Christmas like Waitrose tempura prawns, Waitrose or M&S duck spring rolls, the itsu bai buns, that kind of thing

M&S florentines are amazing, so may varieties

m&s ginger and fudge white Stilton

Comte cheese with a fig confit

black treacle and clove ham (DH makes this)

wfhwfh · 04/11/2025 00:31

I go mad for rich Christmas food. Ive got a homemade Christmas pudding i made last year that i cant wait to eat. I did try making brandy butter but, tbh, shop-bought tastes better than mine so wont bother this year.

I treat myself to some medjool dates stuffed with things like pistachio cream. I also love peppermint creams.

monkeybag123 · 04/11/2025 00:31

Pickled walnuts !

Pickled walnuts !

What are these like ? I've seen them in jars (Opie's ?) but never tried them.
Are they soft or crunchy?
I'd use in a salad with rocket, apple and some nice cheese .......

Give them a whirl , if you like pickled stuff you'll love them . Specially good with cold turkey and ham ! X

MaplePumpkin · 04/11/2025 19:07

Sweet:
Ice topped mince pies
M&S Very Merry Munch (Tesco do a cheaper version but the m&s one is best!)
Pannetone
Chocolate Orange
Tub of Roses

I also love baking at Christmas. Gingerbread cupcakes, choc orange bronuts, chocolate cookies half dipped in white choc to look like Christmas puds.

Savoury:
Camembert done in the oven with garlic and rosemary on top.
Yorkshire puds with slices of Brie and pigs in blankets inside.
Truffle Brie.
Sticky sausages (aka sausages cooked in equal parts soy, sesame oil and honey- delicious).

DBD1975 · 04/11/2025 19:17

John Lewis Panattoni, it is so good.
I buy an extra one every year, hide it at the back of the cupboard and then when I find it after Christmas it is a very welcome treat.
