Ideas for DH’s Christmas stocking

ADHDwifeHP · 25/10/2025 08:57

We don’t usually do presents for each other as have been on a tight budget / getting out of debt / saving and this year want to be a bit more Christmasy so for fun are going to do each other Christmas stockings for the first time ever. So far I have a tin of milo, a gift set of mini gins and a bottle of fancy vanilla flavouring for coffee (all favourites DH has forgone for years due to tight budget) … I’d love some more ideas - remaining budget is £50

Does he read? Maybe a book on something he is interested in?

How about a night out? If you look at smaller venues you can sometimes get 2 tickets to a gig or a show for £50.

Some of his favourite chocolate.
A magazine connected to his hobby- planespotters weekly or whatever.
A paperback book he would like.
Some nice new socks.

Icebreakhell · 25/10/2025 09:10

I normally put in things that include:
Pants
Socks
Small bottle of whisky
Nice brand of deodorant, moisturiser
M&S tin of cashews
Fortnums biscuits

We went out to see a local band recently and the tickets were £15 each and we’ve also managed to see a comedian we both like do a warm up gig in a tiny local theatre for the same price. Admittedly not an awful lot of people have heard of him but we both like him Smile

MidnightPatrol · 25/10/2025 09:10

A can or two of a beer he hasn’t tried? Supermarkets sell all sorts of individual fancy tins now.

Mine likes biscuits - got some white chocolate covered oreos, but you could get some nice florentines or similar.

Gerber has a number of keychain tools for under £15

I’ve got a Shard in my handbag.

I’m putting ice cubes in my DHs stocking! We were on holiday and they had those metal ice cubes (make your drink cold without diluting it.) He loved them. Are there any similar quirky things your DH has mentioned in passing?

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 25/10/2025 09:17

Potentially a bit childish, apologies if so. Last Christmas I did homemade (well office made) gift vouchers for my Dd's stocking. Things like a cinema trip together, meal in a place she loves, spa day, takeaway night, someone else unloads the dishwasher on her turn, that kind of thing. I did 12 so she could use one each month. It wasn't so much a cost thing as spreading out a gift over the year and she loved it. DH was a touch miffed I hadn't done one for him. As I say it might be your thing but thought it worth a mention.

I’ll keep an ear open but he’s not one to give anything helpful away 😅 besides the obvious low hanging fruit things I’ve already got 😂 love the idea of non diluting ice though!

Ah I love this idea. Very sweet! Might do something similar for my kids too… love that there’s a big range of options re budget too ❤️

F1 Key ring
Coffee pods - Xmas flavour from Grind
Chocolate orange
L’occitane shave gel
Halifax Panthers mug and coaster
Dr Squatch Soaps
Socks
Paperback book

this is DH’s so far

Retrogamer · 25/10/2025 09:39

I did this once a few year ago. I put similar things in it. I also put a pocket planner in. DH prefers it to his phone. I also put a card game in there we all could play. And a can of craft beer.

ADHDwifeHP · 25/10/2025 10:54

Thank you all for the lovely idea so far! The actual stocking I’ve ordered is quite big … like much bigger than I thought it would be 😂🫠 so any additional ideas on something bulky to fill space?

So far I have got my husband some brew dog sauces when they were on offer in sainsburys, new gloves, car air freshener and a treasure hunt for the local city as a date day for us.

Fancy cheese biscuits or pickles (I always get DH Fortnum's chutney. It's about £7 but it really is delicious and not something he'd buy himself.) Or fancy cheese - just keep it in the fridge, wrapped up until Christmas morning so it doesn;t get too ripe.

Fancier than usual bath stuff - DH likes Molton Brown (I think they are over-rated) but for less than half the price M&S do some gorgeous ones in the Apothecary range that suit men.

Nice coffee beans if you have a grinder, or ground coffee from the Algerian Coffee Shop in London (they will mail things in UK)

You ask for bulky things - I sometimes get DH a box of coco pops as a joke because he loves them but thinks they are too unhealthy to have often. Does your DH have anything like that?

Last year I bought him a grow-your-own mushrooms kit which was a great success - but he loves gardening and cooking, so it might not appeal if your DH doesn't.

Uniqlo do really gorgeous art or designer-collaboration tee shirts for about £12

Kittkats · 25/10/2025 20:52

Mine has: liquorice, liqueur chocs, foot cream, a mini watercolour painting set from Temu, sleep spray and pocket coffee so far.

Ophy83 · 25/10/2025 22:59

Socks and pants are bulky. My dh genuinely looks forward to getting these every year 😂

Fancy coffee/tea/ hot chocolate

His preferred savoury and sweet snacks

Scarf or gloves or a beanie ( could be a fancy beanie with incorporared Bluetooth headphones or torch)

Viz or private eye annual

CharlotteCChapel · 25/10/2025 23:57

I started buying for DH today. I bought him a chilli sauce bottle in a tube to take for the cricket.

God knows what else to get him.

Ooh where did you get the chilli sauce tube from please?

NatWestPigFamily · 26/10/2025 07:48

in previous years DH favourite stocking gifts have been an extendable back scratcher, a keyring set of Allan keys and sleep headphones. Last year I got him a pickle spoon which he loved!

Thingsthatgo · 26/10/2025 07:58

Things that take up space - a magazine (rolled up to wrap). Anything that comes boxed - board games are good. We have enormous stockings (I knitted them and they stretch!) so last year I bought DH every different flavour of chocolate orange I could find - they only cost £1 each and they took up loads of space!

Love the idea of F&M chutney and a childhood cereal!! That’s the one. I’m going to get him pronutro (sp?!) as he loved it as a child but so sugary literally crunchy with sugar 😂 thank you

Love this 😂 we always do a choc orange at the bottom of the kids stockings and DH loves to pinch bits so giving him a few of them would be funny ❤️
