Low cost gift for an 10 year old boy

Whoevenarethey · 12/10/2025 15:38

A friend and I usually buy a small (£5-10) gift for each others children.
Can anyone suggest something for a 10 year old boy? They are not into football, Fortnite, Roblox, branded items, toiletries. Thanks

Play monster stinky pig game is meant to be fun.
Invisible ink spy pen.
Giant marshmallows.
Little Lego set like the 3in1 Creator sets?

Hope you find something :)

You'll probably not go wrong with 1000 v bucks gift card (6.99) and a bag of sweets.

Teathecolourofcreosote · 12/10/2025 16:08

Oh sorry you said not into.

What does he like? Mine liked 250-500 piece jigsaws at that age. And Lego as pp suggested

Thanks will look up that first suggestion as not heard of it. Will also see if there is any Lego they might like..I do think it might have to be sweets which I am sure they would be delighted with

Smart iq games on amazon - there are loads of different types at different price points. And sometimes cheaper on black Friday
Hopefully the link will give an example

My son and his friends were all obsessed with ‘The Hobbit’ at that age, maybe a copy of that?

I feel a bit mean just giving cash as I know they will give a gift. Plus seems like a pointless exchange if we go down the money route.

They do like reading, will see if this is something they would like

I have no idea what V bucks is for, but they don't have Roblox or anything like that. They don't like football either, so football cards wouldn't interest them.
The other things I worry would be like stocking fillers (as know that's the sort of thing I give my own children) so might be a bit disappointing.

I think sweets/chocolate along with something might work though.

Book of word searches and some fine liners or gel pens ? Lots of gifts for this age that aren’t online!

westcott · 12/10/2025 17:43

What does he like?

Leeds2 · 12/10/2025 17:45

Pack or two of Top Trumps cards.
Joke book.
Guiness Book of Records.
Magic set.
Book of origami paper, and instruction book of how to do it!
T shirt/socks/pants with favourite character on them.
Painting by Numbers set.

BlindSpotForCats · 12/10/2025 17:47

One of my godchildren loves dinosaurs. He's 10 and last year I bought him a really good dino jigsaw. Apparently it went down well.

Thanks for the further suggestions. I feel like I need to stop commenting on individual posts!

So he likes Minecraft, crafts and reading. Not really gathered much else.

So definitely will look into some of these suggestions.

I think we have possibly reached a point where my friend and I should stop the gift giving.

Either get him a book or a book voucher - perfect!

If you find out what books he currently likes, I am where people on here could make suggestions.

Holes is an enduringly popular book with this age group. Or the Alex Ryder books. Or Percy Jackson.....

Actually a book voucher is a great idea! I remember loving going to choose one! And I guess if he really doesn't like it, his mum would like it and could give him the cash.

I was going to suggest a particular book that both my daughters love, age 8 and 11. It's called Wreck This Journal. It's not a reading book..there's a creative activity on each page. It's suitable for boys as well as the cover is gender neutral. It's £11 full price. Please check it out. It's brilliant.
