…any suggestions for a good, leakproof, preferably pretty one, that keeps hot drinks hot?

Thanks, anybody!

We have several Contigo mugs; they work! That said, my last one had a different lid, which I don’t like. As others have mentioned, putting the cup bit in a dishwasher causes the paint to peel after 25+ washes.

I bought DD a Ninja Thirsti for Xmas and she’s happily taken it off to Uni with her. It has a 5 year guarantee (comes in 2 sizes and several colours).

Contigos can be used 1-handed.

We’ve put fizzy drinks in both.

Is the ninja one only for cold drinks?

Ninja is hot, cold and carbonated. I’ve got two and they are good. But quite big!

Owala is all the rage with tween girls here in Canada now, Stanley's have had their day. So far the one my daughter got has been good, no issues with it. Wait until they go on sale somewhere though!

Same in my part of the USA

I like my Sho mug, usually have to take the lid off to let it cool down because it keeps things boiling.

Contigo Byronn - this one. Usually around £10 in Tesco. Happily goes upside down in a work bag, and stay warm for 4-5 hrs.

We have Klean Kanteen mugs because the top completely disassembles and goes on the dishwasher. They get really yukky otherwise. It seems to be completely leak proof too.

I've had my Thermos mug for 6 years and it's still going strong. I've dropped it often, and it's still doing just fine. They don't really do pretty patterns, but they have nice colours and it's a design classic. Hot for 7 hours (longer if you get the flask with cup).
I have this one but they have a few other designs too.

Hydroflask - loads of lovely colour, you can choose the type of lid, and in all tests (which include Stanley/yeti etc) it was the only one which kept the drink hot for 24hours. I've had mine for five years, use it everyday, and still doesn't leak / looks brand new

Is this the one with the flexi lid? I was going to purchase this as a gift but cannot decide between this vs Stanley. Also reviews mentioned it doesn’t keep hot very well, do you find it does?

GreenGodiva · 30/10/2025 09:35

Continuo mugs are brilliant. But I do love Stanley’s. As a family we have a bunch of various ones, my DH has been using their flasks for 35 years and swears by them. They also have a really good life time warranty and when a handle fell off his work flask they sent him a whole new flask 12 years after purchase. They also swapped my dds quencher when she knocked it over and a handle weld failed. They have sent new seals for his flask a few times too. Brilliant customer service.

It was this style, 16oz coffee cup with the older flip lid. The new lid - flex sip I think - looks good too.

I'm surprised that you've found a review about it not staying hot - in tests, it has always been the best, and in reality, if i make a cup of tea on a morning and don't drink it, it's still hot the following morning (but a bit flasky-yuk!)

I had Contigo for years but now have a chilli’s large cup. (With the flip lid.) much easier to clean than my contigo
