For me, my mother.
There will always be an empty space now around the Christmas table.
I would love just one more Christmas day for us to spend together.

Who (alive or dead) do you wish you could spend Christmas day with?

My lovely Dad, who died in September aged 92. His birthday was on Christmas Day too, so a double whammy. We used to all stay up till midnight on Christmas Eve to toast his birthday with a glass of bubbly. We (me, my brothers and his grandsons) will do it this year too, but it will be bittersweet and we will all be in tears. I hope to hold it all together to cook our Christmas lunch. Miss you my Daddy xx

I am so, so sorry for everyone who is missing and grieving their loved ones. It is such a difficult time of year. I hope you all have some support around you. Flowers

My mum - she passed a couple of months ago.

I'd give anything for more time with her.

My late son. I miss him every single day but Christmas is one of the hardest times. I am crying as I type this.

Whenever I see your name on here I have a thought for you and your son. I can't imagine the pain you carry. I'm so sorry you lost your boy 😔
Wishing you peace this Xmas 💐

My son who died 12 weeks ago. It's so fucking hard.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 23/12/2024 07:40

I can't even imagine how hard @AuntieMarys - I hope you've got people around you. One day at a time Flowers

My sister. She's currently still alive but on end of life care, awaiting transfer to the hospice. She's no longer herself.

My mum. Again, I am alive but currently in hospital after receiving an organ transplant. I know she's where she needs to be right now, but I wish her all the healing in the world in the hope that she gets home in time to say goodbye to my sister.

KylieKangaroo · 23/12/2024 09:12

@AuntieMarys I'm so sorry I can't imagine how you are coping. Sending you so much love x

My parents. Mam died in 2016, Dad in 2022. My son was born 2018 and it still makes me sad that he never got to know my mam. She lived Christmas, especially with children around and she would have adored my son and daughter. I'm grateful my dad got to see a few Christmases with my son though ❤️

NooNakedJacuzziness · 23/12/2024 09:55

Sending all the positive vibes to you @Faz469 - I hope things work out as best they can

TeamPolin · 23/12/2024 11:33

My aunt - she was the most Christmassy of Christmassy people. Far more so than my own parents. And used to host the BEST Christmases when we were kids.

NovemberMorn · 23/12/2024 12:16

This thread has been so sad, it was the first one I have started on here, and I didn't expect to be so moved by all the answers.

I'm sorry if it has made some people sad, but it's also beautiful to know that so many of our loved ones live on in our memories.

I hope to try and remember all the good Christmases we shared with my mum, rather than dwell on the empty place she has left at the table.❤

So tough. We are nearly at 4 months since we lost him. X

Grievingxmas · 23/12/2024 12:24

My dad died unexpectedly on 13th December. He was meant to be having Christmas Dinner with us. I can't believe we're going to have an empty seat where he was supposed to be sitting. For the DC we need to push through and try to have some sort of normal christmas.

Soccermumamir · 23/12/2024 13:39

My Dad and my Nana
