What the hell do I get DH?

He has every bit of tech he wants/needs, he doesn't have any hobbies, doesn't drink, has more clothes than he knows what to do with, buys books on Amazon for his Kindle...I'm completely stumped. I've got him tickets for a show he wanted to see but beyond that I have no idea. What do you get the 60 year old man who has everything? After 30 years with him I've finally run out of ideas!

Food postal subscription (eg posh cheese or pasta) or a voucher for a nice restaurant or a cookery course
Cinema subscription
Art/craft course
Night away in a hotel / long weekend

Fireworknight · 20/12/2024 17:17

A cheese subscription? Book subscription? Beer subscription? Coffee subscription ?

Golf top and golf lessons

car driving experience

Rainbow1901 · 20/12/2024 17:24

DH and I don't buy for each other for this reason. We have in the past bought each other presents or tickets for events we wanted to see. But now - through the year - if there is something we want - we just buy it! We are more interested in seeing family and enjoying seeing the GCs open their presents.

TeaHagTeaBag · 20/12/2024 17:25

Cinema voucher is an amazing idea, thank you! Sorry, OP, I'm no help as dh is the same, but I'm delighted I opened your thread 😄

Hamper of favourites
Posh aftershave
Jewellery/watch

Thanks everyone. We’ve got pretty much everything that’s listed tbh and he’s not a big eater (has diabetes). His birthday is in Jan so I’ve booked a night away with dinner for that.

It really is impossible to buy for him. We’ve got to a point where we’ve got a bit of money so we tend to buy what we need/want and after 31 years together the house is groaning under the weight of stuff.

Tea steeping mug

Cocktail making set?

ThePeopleBowedAndPrayedToTheNeonGodTheyMade · 20/12/2024 18:45

Why don’t you just agree not to do presents? You are literally buying for the sake of buying, it seems like madness. “Groaning under the weight of stuff”?!

Do you have any idea what he is getting for you?

Inextremis · 20/12/2024 19:05

Mine's getting:

A bottle of whiskey he might like
A mug and coaster set that says 'Did I Ever Tell you I Was in the RAF?' (yes, he did, many times over the past 30 years)
A T-shirt that reads 'Monday is Coming' (work is stressful)
A pack of rude Snap cards, which we will enjoy over the holidays :)
A beard brush so he stops borrowing my hairbrush
A laser measuring thing, for measuring things
Some carpenter's pencils (they're square so they don't roll away)
A magnetic thing that picks things up
A woolly hat with ear flaps
A thing you put on the car windscreen overnight to stop it frosting over - also works as a sunscreen in summer
'Diabetic' socks - loose at the stop so they don't dig in
A CSI puzzle book (and maybe a couple more puzzle books, not sure whether they're mine or his yet!)

Plus he gets his Xmas dinner cooked (by me), marvellous cooked breakfasts over the holidays, his favourite shortbread biscuits, and my glorious presence, of course!

I would go for an experience day of some sort so, for example, flying in an air tunnel, zoo keeper for a day or animal experience, llama walk (these are lovely!), racing car driving, tank driving, falconry, wine tasting etc. Maybe a hot air balloon ride, but I have heard that these can be very difficult to actually arrange due to needing the right weather conditions.

tarheelbaby · 20/12/2024 19:27

I had this dilemma for many years with DH. I convinced him to book us a city break each twixtmas. It was my present to all of us: his parents' gift to us was childcare. His gift was twofold: choosing/planning (a puzzle to solve) and enjoying the choices he'd made plus all the activitiesl I enjoyed a city break and some adult time with DH. He liked 'adult' time but couldn't be bothered to book a fun dinner, much less a naice weekend away himself...

Our DCs gave him all the socks and hankies in the world - he loved them and the DCs. I often gave him a voucher for naice restaurants in our area, hoping to insipre him to venture out on a 'date'.

Howmanysleepsnow · 20/12/2024 19:36

Not all this year!
An OS “bucket list” map of UK places to visit
An ember mug for coffee
Willoughby book club subscription
magazine subscription
coffee subscription
Arthur Beale wool jumper and hat
aftershave
matching shower gel
sheepskin slippers
heated throw
cheese making kit
bacon curing kit

StiffyByngsDogBartholomewsChristmasBone · 20/12/2024 19:50

My DH is always wanting me to massage his upper back but my hands just arent strong enough to make any difference. So I've bought him a massage gun.

he is also getting pyjamas, a Bletchley park puzzle book, a wildlife photographers memoir, a Peter James book, some shortbread, some bath soak, a tin of condensed milk (he likes eating it straight from the can) and some chocolate.
dd has got him a "new" Calvin Klein wallet from Vinted and a loo dart board set

MrsPeregrine · 20/12/2024 20:38

I got mine:

A new winter hat and gloves (Fatface)
Sweater (Fatface)
Bottle of Jack Daniel’s Honey Whisky.

Other ideas:
Nice crystal whisky glass
Whisky stones
VR headset (my DH had this on his wish list but it was around £300 so there’s no way!)
Nice toiletries
One of those multi charger things that you can use to charge an iPhone, watch and AirPods. I’ve got one and it’s also got a little light on it too.
Membership to Craft gin Club (or similar) if they like gin (you can adjust the delivery frequency).
Theatre tickets.
Deluxe furry heated throw (my DH loves the Dreamland husky one I bought him last year)
Luxury copper shot measure

SirChenjins · 20/12/2024 21:49

Thanks everyone 😊It’s really tough as we/he already has the vast majority of things listed here but I’ve ordered him a book tonight- we’re going to Australia later in the year so have bought him a guide to one of the cities we’re going to. I’ll head to the shops this weekend and get him a pair of wool socks for our dog walks and maybe a jumper as well. I know he’ll be delighted with the concert tickets I’ve got him so anything else is really just to have something to open on the day. First world problems - of that I am very aware.

Too late for this year but you can custom make you own mini lego figure.

We got a family portrait in lego mini figs a few years ago. I think it was peak dh present

Cynic17 · 20/12/2024 22:21

You have bought tickets for a show, so he already has a present. What's the problem, OP?

Eyesopenwideawake · 20/12/2024 22:23

Copy me - a Barbour jacket and bright pink Crocs (my DP is 70!) 😁

leccybill · 20/12/2024 22:41

I've just bought DH a pasta machine (and some nice pasta utensils to go with), an apron, new tan belt, James Acaster book, big Toblerone, and some nice moisturiser (to stop him using mine).
I've also booked tickets for Come From Away over Christmas.

He’s got a Barbour - but I could totally get on board with pink crocs! He’s colour blind though, so they’d be wasted on him - but I’d tell him they were blue and send him off down the street in them for the neighbours to laugh at him 🫢
