Mine is the Patrick Stewart one, what's yours?

It's a tie between the Ross Kemp one and Muppets.

I actually think the Ross Kemp one has been too underrated for years, he's a really good Scrooge and the ending is really touching

Glad to see so much love for the Ross Kemp one.

Usually when I mention it, no one has heard of it.

I went to see Christopher Eccleston in CC last year at the Old Vic....snow, flying satsumas, it was wonderful.

The Christmas Feast was by far the best theatrical rendition I've ever seen.

Whole Family of Muppets here.

We have just lit the fire and put the Jim Carey one on 😊

Muppets. Michael Caine played the role completely straight, as if he was auditioning for the Royal Shakespeare company.

Also the Ladybird book and cassette was quite good.

And another vote for Blackadder's Christmas Carol.
Blackadder (slow clapping some bad carol singers): Utter crap. Here's your present: it's a door in the face. Here you are.

The Ross Kemp version.
It's on YouTube.

It's on ITVX - might be better quality. YouTube can be hit or miss.

1984 version. Filmed in my home town.x

I was on a long haul flight last December the week before Christmas and watched the Muppets, Blackadder and Christmas Carol (Suranne Jones) one after the other.

Muppets. No competition 😁

No doubt!

Jifmicroliquid · 20/12/2024 19:12

Muppets!
Then Scrooged with Bill Murray.

Figgygal · 20/12/2024 19:15

Muppets hands down
But my other yearly watch is scrooged

twdad · 20/12/2024 19:32

The BBC version with Guy Pearce

pinkksugarmouse · 20/12/2024 21:16

The one with George C Scott. It absolutely terrified me as a child and still sends a shiver down my spine now.
Few people seem familiar with it but I highly recommend watching it in the dark. Not recommended for under 10's unless they take scary things in their stride. I also recommend an empty bladder. 😆

ShowOfHands · 20/12/2024 21:20

Albert Finney.

Watched it with my Dad every year as a child and it makes me bawl watching it now as my Dad has dementia. We watched it together recently.

Trallers · 20/12/2024 21:27

Love the Muppets one, but then i havent actually watched any others!

However, I will give my vote to the book itself which is magnificent and well worth a read, preferably aloud to your whole family while snuggled in front of a fire.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 21/12/2024 07:19

Hugh Grant does a lovely reading of the book on Audible- I listened to it while putting up my Christmas decs.

OAPapparently · 21/12/2024 22:29

I watched the 2001 cartoon version of it today (the one Kate Winslett sings the title song for) and that was surprisingly good.

I really enjoyed the jim carrey version

I thought nobody else was going to mention Jim Carrey's animated version. My kids love it.

But the best ever is the Old Vic stage production which we have now watched for 5 years in a row (2020 was a live screening). If you haven’t seen it I recommend booking now for next year as it gets, sold out and is genuinely the most Christmassy thing you will ever experience.

jakesmommy · 21/12/2024 22:46

The Muppet Christmas Carol and Scrooge starring Albert Finney are my favourites

VillageFete · 21/12/2024 23:47

Just watched the Patrick Stewart one with my 15 year old DD (Who NEVER wants to watch anything with me anymore!)

She’s studying “A Christmas Carol” for her English GCSE, so decided to grace me with her presence.

I’ve seen it before, I think he’s magnificent in the role. DD’s first time watching it and she was captivated.

My favourite version by far.

It’s on telly over this weekend. Might be C5? I recorded it last year and we watched the recording tonight.

Floralnomad · 21/12/2024 23:49

Muppets by a long way .
