Parents who have everything

Please please help me find separate or joint present(s) for my parents who won't give us any suggestions:

  • mid 70s but very active and healthy
  • have a home already overflowing with stuff, don't really care about the garden
  • like reading, theatre, history, museums, art.
  • Can access all London places.
  • mum is stylish and shops in Hobbs and Toast type places but has a million scarves, gloves, etc.
  • no hampers please. They're not foodie and don't really drink
  • Budget £100-150 between them. We do like them even though they are tricky to treat and they will be generous to us and grandkids so we do have to buy something.

Thank you very much

How often do you get to see them? Any kind of trip out together ?

CandleStub · 29/11/2024 17:06

Backstage tour at the ROH?

GrazeConcern · 29/11/2024 17:08

Theatre vouchers, or membership to one of the big galleries, or maybe something like an art pass?

MumonabikeE5 · 29/11/2024 17:09

Invite them somewhere, do something together?

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 29/11/2024 17:24

We don't anymore it's all rather silly. We take each other out for a theatre trip or to a nice restaurant etc. None of us need or want any more stuff.

NC10125 · 29/11/2024 17:28

How about tickets to something Christmassy like panto, nutcracker etc for just after Xmas? To go to as a family? Get them to keep the date free but keep the tickets as a surprise?

Bobbiepin · 29/11/2024 17:29

Tickets to the ballet?

InSpainTheRain · 29/11/2024 17:32

A steam train trip with all of you - especially the children! My parents (same age) loved this when they were with us.

Meganssweatycrotch · 29/11/2024 17:37

National trust membership or similar

AnnieMay2000 · 29/11/2024 18:02

reluctantbrit · 29/11/2024 18:07

Annual pass/membership for any museum, gallery or the Arts Pass?
Some do members-only events which can include behind the scenes tours or similar.

Going together to any exhibition/show with dinner?

mamajong · 29/11/2024 18:13

An experience voucher or weekend away

wouldthatbeworse · 29/11/2024 18:15

LRB subscription

This really made me laugh. They love the LRB so you have them pegged completely. Once they gifted us a subscription but we are comparatively low brow and very time poor and sadly they went unread.

Some good afternoon tea deals on Groupon depending on where you are?

Apfelkuchen · 29/11/2024 18:38

Royal Academy annual membership?

NeedSomeComfy · 29/11/2024 18:41

Charity donation. I give my parents yearly membership to a rewilding and tree planting organisation. They get monthly updates and can participate in some decisions about the organisation (it's a small one). They appreciate that much more than just more stuff when they could buy themselves everything they want anyway.

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 29/11/2024 19:27

Annual membership to somewhere? For example, with the Natural History Museum, members can access the nice members only lounge, special events, unlimited exhibition access.
