Please please help me find separate or joint present(s) for my parents who won't give us any suggestions:

  • mid 70s but very active and healthy
  • have a home already overflowing with stuff, don't really care about the garden
  • like reading, theatre, history, museums, art.
  • Can access all London places.
  • mum is stylish and shops in Hobbs and Toast type places but has a million scarves, gloves, etc.
  • no hampers please. They're not foodie and don't really drink
  • Budget £100-150 between them. We do like them even though they are tricky to treat and they will be generous to us and grandkids so we do have to buy something.

Thank you very much

Do they like coffee? You can get some great coffee subscriptions, every month something different and interesting that they probably wouldn’t usually buy

This really made me laugh. They love the LRB so you have them pegged completely. Once they gifted us a subscription but we are comparatively low brow and very time poor and sadly they went unread.

This is the way with the LRB 😂 I subscribe every three years full of good intentions, thinking “this is such a fascinating publication, such great writing. Why aren’t I reading it?”, receive 6 issues which remain unopened, then cancel the subscription. Then a few years later the cycle starts again.

Some museums do special evenings with limited guests to look around after hours. Or meals etc in a museum. Something like this.

If they're in London, I'd consider a Curzon Cult Member cinema subscription for a year. Lovely cinemas, with arty movies and can watch high brow movies at home also on Curzon Home Cinema. It's over your budget though but just an idea.
