Jelly cats... have I missed the memo?!

I bought these for my kids as babies. Yet so many threads on here are about jellycats for teens. What's the hype?! I've clearly missed something!! My girls are 10 and 14.

Thanks to a recent thread, I have the snow dragon. I am 56 and care not.

It is fabulous!

I’m the same age and also have the snow dragon 🥰😆

I was annoyed my kids asked for more bloody Squishmallows for Christmas but sounds like I've got off lightly!

MotherOfUnicorns4 · 24/11/2024 11:45

We love them! Started collecting them for DD when she was born and try to get her a few a year. It is worth popping into TK Maxx now and again because sometimes you can find one in there for a cheaper price 😊
My eldest DD bought me and DH a bride and groom egg when we got married earlier this year. I had them on the dashboard in the car, but sadly they got stollen along with my car a week after the wedding 😫.

Pumpkittenspice · 24/11/2024 11:52

My friend and I have one of the amuseable marshmallows each (they come as a pair).

I love them. I think of my friend every time I see my marshmallow!

AlannaOfTrebond · 24/11/2024 11:58

Not just teens, I work in student housing and they are incredibly popular with the early 20's demographic.

And the mid 40's in our house - I manage to stop myself buying them, but still stop to admire window displays of cuddly patisserie and veg.

PlumpHobbit · 24/11/2024 14:27

Is it wrong to admit I'm an adult and have "treated" myself to a couple? I've got kitten caboodle and the bunnies in the same shape

They're so soft and love what their little tags say

They're almost too nice for children to get grubby 😂😂

They have done a couple of cat breeds, if they do a ragdoll I will be instantly buying it!

Oreyt · 24/11/2024 17:02

Average ones are £20 who said £40?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 24/11/2024 17:17

I have quite a few, including a large Christmas tree. I like the plants as they can’t die from lack of attention or overwatering! Sid and Vera live in my bathroom and have recently been joined by a toilet roll.

I’m 29 and absolutely love Jellycats! I have Ricky Rainfrog and a Blue Bashful Bunny I got from a charity shop (his name is Kevin DeBunny - like Kevin DeBruyne) BlushGrin

MamaWeasel · 24/11/2024 17:27

I really want the marshmallows. I'm almost 50.

StressedQueen · 24/11/2024 17:37

All of my daughters aged 15, 15, 9 and 6 like jelly cats and they are pretty cute to be fair! But I refuse to buy a lot because you can get lots of soft toys for cheaper anyway. We only have a little pink bunny jellycat that my daughter bought for herself so far.

But for Christmas, we are getting quite a few because I honestly couldn't resist because of how cute the Christmas ones were!! Both of my 15 year olds are getting a peanut reindeer. My 9 year old is getting a Jolly Gingerbread Ruby and an otto sausage dog. My 6 year old is getting an Eldo elf and a Rock-a-bye kitten.

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 24/11/2024 17:43

I love chip the Seagull. Might treat myself to one after Christmas.

Foxlover46 · 24/11/2024 17:45

It's blown up
For sure ! My two daughters (27 and 12 ) both have one in their stocking , hot chocolate cup for the eldest and the peanut for youngest ...might of bought myself the Christmas tree whilst I was browsing 🙈

We have the dragon in gold , she’s called Alphetta , she was an impulse buy and is gorgeous

Going to have to get my own Sid & Vera now I've seen those (damn).

I had never heard of Jellycats until I received a pink bunny from a friend last year when I was recovering from major surgery. I started following Jellycat on Instagram and their marketing is genius. I bought another bunny and then the Jellycat Jack, some Ricky Rainfrogs, Bartholomew Bear. I also started buying my autistic niece (late 20s) some Amuseables and now we're both hooked. I'm 60.

lovepets · 24/11/2024 19:51

My daughter's fiancé proposed to her with the Jellycat diamond ring. She adores any and all of the Jellycats, and as he put it, she'd be rather particular (fussy!) about what kind of ring she'd want, so he knew doing it with a Jellycat ring would be a win all round. She absolutely loved the proposal, and they went the following day to choose her proper ring together

mewkins · 24/11/2024 20:11

My dd badgered me for a pink jellycat sugar sheep when she was a toddler. She's 14 now and still loves it and it's now a collectible😆
We have a few others that were baby gifts and still going strong.

Lovemusic82 · 24/11/2024 20:38

My dd is at uni and has a small collection, I have bought her one for Christmas (£40 😭), they are expensive but they are cute. I like the foodie ones but dd prefers the animals.

SquashPenguin · 24/11/2024 20:39

I have a couple of the bashful bunnies from years ago, and I bought my baby an egg one (she's my lucky egg, lots of failed ivf so a special backstory!)

I think they're lovely!

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 24/11/2024 20:58

I’m in my 40s and recently could not resist buying the Christmas cake one. So cute!

christmaspudding43 · 25/11/2024 13:35

I think I'm settled on the clementine for the 15 year old I have to buy for but does anyone have any views on which kind of jellycats a 7 year old might like? I kind of want to steer clear of the teddy ones, but would food be too random at that age?

I'm trying so hard to resist buying the Christmas cake for myself. So hard.

Didn’t you see their pop ups on SM OP?
they were brilliant! And packed full with all age groups.

Paris was patisserie themed , staff pack your pastry of choice in paper and boxes , ask if you want extra cream 😂,
London was fish , chips peas , wrapped in newspaper served out of truck in selfridges.

DDs are crazy about them and collect the hard to find ones.

A tragic example of the power of marketing

Eugh! Soft toys in the bathroom? Don't they absorb odours and moisture/steam?
