Any idea welcome! Apparently she loves dogs. Budget £10.

A water bottle, unleakable travel cup, charger lead with multiple charger options on it, a foldable shopping bag, a kitchen gadget!

For our office secret santa we've used a website which allows everyone to post a wish list of items up to the budget, which the Santa can view anonymously.

Maybe suggest this?

we just stuck up a list where people could write in things they liked and disliked, allergies, dietary restrictions etc. where everyone could see it. so it doesn't even need to be a website to do that. in previous years it was a poster in the staff toilet, later years, our staff facebook group
a post where each person was invited to write about those things

Whatever the budget is in, in cash, in a card - with a note to say 'buy yourself a treat'

I think if she says she likes Dogs, that is because she hates Secret Santa, and so picked one thing that narrows the choice. I always say I love stationary; I mean, I like it, but then I always get stationary, which never goes to waste.

https://shop.battersea.org.uk/collections/stocking-fillers-for-humans tote bag, christmas decoration, mug, key ring, tea towel. All of which can be regifted or used fairly easily and if nothing else contributes to a charity.

Thanks this is perfect for my family secret Santa!

Not a mug - we get given new mugs as gifts every damned year and are forever binning or charity shopping them because we have far too many. (Bloody easter egg mugs are a particular pain). They are such a default "easy present" and I swear they multiply in the cupboard when we aren't looking.

Gift cards for the local coffee shop to work if you want very easy.
Something indulgent and consumable like a box of good florentines (if no allergies). A dog charity christmas ornament - is there a particular breed? Hand warmers for walking her dog. One of those dog treat pouches, you can get them for about £8.

I agree. Too many mugs on this poor planet as it is.

Coffee shop voucher is practical and non-tat.

Someone once got me a tiny bottle of Prosecco and a tiny smelly candle. I really liked it.

Joules dog design stationery? Weirdly Google has plenty of offerings but I can't find it on joules' own website

I'd choose a mini board game especially if you don't know if she's a drinker or has any allergies or dietary requirements.

sashh · 21/11/2024 07:41

I had a surprise hit when I got someone a puzzle box. Basically a wooden box that doesn't have any visible means to open it, you have to slide some bits and push others.

What does she wear to work? Does she wear a scarf or earrings? If she does then some earrings that are similar or an earing box or tree.

I think if you really know nothing about them then something that can be regifted or something practical like a nice pen.

I genuinely would find that funny - each to their own!

She’s kidding. It’s a Mumsnet trope that everyone here hates Baylis and Harding.

Saying that, I’d rather have cheap soap than that godawful calendar of dogs crapping that someone suggested

getahhtmapub · 21/11/2024 08:45

This reminds me of the hilarious thread from years ago where a poor OP had once said to a family member that she liked penguins and since then every gift from every family member forever more was penguin themed. She was overrun with penguin themed ornaments, paintings, books, DVDs, jumpers, socks, mugs, shopping list pads, fly swatters, cushions, duvet covers, cuddly toys etc.

It was a throwaway comment and she really didn't like penguins that much to clothe herself completely and decorate her house entirely in penguin ephemera.

Bottle of wine or a tin of biscuits and job done. Ignore the 'but I don't drink, I couldn't use that!' 'I'm gluten free!' type comments She can gift it on and spend the £10 on whatever floats her boat.

@Justanothernamename , not wisdom, and I can't categorically say that the MB handwash would crack my hands as I gave it away, but I have noticed that handwash is harsh, and I wash my hands many times a day.
I'll look out for dexeryl.
