Just accept whatever you get will be wrong, if she's that type. Or will be fine, if she's generally upbeat. Avoid anything she could construed as insulting.

If she's a proper, out in all weathers and in the dark dog person (rather than someone who just likes dogs/has little toy dogs they don't walk), a beanie hat with an LED is a marvellous thing and this one just scrapes in to budget.

omg just get a voucher to a coffee shop. I have recycled or sent to charity shops so many well intentioned gifts like this. I have a dog, but would hate dog related things. I would want a candle to be more than £10. No fluffy socks or hats or cutesy stuff.

Ugh Secret Santa. Thank goodness I don't work in an office anymore. Although I checked out p d q. Such unwanted tat. Such a waste. Also mildly insulting in a way I find hard to describe.

Maybe a cheap photo frame for said pooch.Easily passed on also.

My default was always a Greggs voucher (there were several outlets in the town I worked in). Easy to use, also easy to offload if they don't like sausage rolls.

At this time of year it's cold and dark but we still need to walk our beloved pooches! What about a bobble hat with a torch in? You can get them for about 8 quid, then you have another 2 quid for a sweet treat!

Garden centres usually have loads of gifts with dogs on.

I second the idea of lottery tickets.

Whereas I'd be fine with chocolates but would have to give the candle away if it was scented because they all set off my asthma. I have a shelf full of the things.😁

I would be really disappointed with a Greggs/Costa/whatever voucher.

I'd rather have a thoughtfully chosen gift, even if it isn't necessarily to my taste. I can go to Greggs any time.

Last year I got some fluffy socks, a mini bottle of pink Prosecco and some little charms to go on wine glasses to identify whose glass is whose. I thought this was really well chosen.

Check re allergies - if none, Hotel chocolat have a box of dog shaped chocolates for humans for £9. So crowd pleaser enough as just chocolate, but dog shaped shows you’ve made an effort to get something for her.

I didn't even know that these existed.

I have asthma and a food allergy so the chocolates and candles would be donated straightaway. Unless of course someone had bothered to get me chocolates that I could actually eat
