Another year of having no idea what to get my husband. I think last year there were a bunch of people with a similar problem so any ideas would be more than welcome.
Sounds like a boring sod but he's actually quite nice - but - not interested in gaming, tech, games, telly or movie stuff, sports, alcohol related gifts, homewares, camping, cooking. I wish he was as easy as that!
He just works (not an office job), tends to be one of those guys that disappears down the street and ends up chatting all day to folk.

Do you go on holiday? New suitcase or wash bag.
Nice leather bag for work/laptop
Tickets to theatre/concert/comedian
Escape room visit
Subscription to something? Wine/curry/cheese/baking
Upgrade of stuff he already has - CK underwear etc
Does he go to the gym? New gym bag/kit

The best present I have ever got for DH was Shokz headphones. He wears them to go running and when he's doing jobs around the house/in the garden.

A guided tour somewhere? I get one for my husband every year (this year I've got him a guided tour of the Harry Potter thing in London) but we've done museums, sports grounds, cathedrals and theatres (the Royal Shakespeare in Stratford is a really good one as they take you around everywhere). They're really great.

Tickets to a show always go down well too.

I love my DH to bits but he’s such an awkward sod to buy for. He never wants anything. But this year I hit gold! He loves Fawlty Towers so I bought him tickets to the play. He loves reading and a big fan of the Jack Reacher books. I was going to buy a set of them and then thought I’ll get him a kindle and he can buy them via a subscription. His wallet also fell apart at the weekend (I wish it was because he has wads of cash but alas no 😄) so I’ve just ordered him a nice new one. I appreciate how lucky I have been this year so will be keeping my fingers crossed for my fellow strugglers for similar good luck and fortune in achieving present buying nirvana!

He has absolutely no interests whatsoever?

He doesn't like sport - tickets for a game
Beer/alcohol - Monthly subscription so he can try new types
Travel - weekend away
Food - equipment/cooking course/recipe book
Clothes - New trainers
Exercise - sports watch/training gear
Tech - headphones/Bluetooth speakers
Music - festival or concert tickets
Reading - book/kindle
TV - DVD box set of favourite show
Driving - supercar experience
Film - annual cinema pass

Nothing?

OMGitsnotgood · 18/11/2024 19:50

I have similar problem, although mine does have interests but buys what he needs when he needs it.

Agree with the upgrade of something he already has. So wallet; toilet bag; dressing gown; his favourite colour shirt/jumper that is looking a bit shabby etc Or a gap in his wardrobe.

A leather overnight bag and a night away.

MrsForgetalot · 18/11/2024 21:27

Anyone else inspired by @mrschocolatte to unpick the seams of DH’s wallet, and destroy other items to create gift giving opportunities?

no? Just me then.

Rocknrollstar · 18/11/2024 21:42

When I was in the States I bought my man-who-wants-nothing an expensive water bottle. It keeps cold drinks cold for 24 hours and hot drinks hot for 12 hours. He has been using it non-stop. I only wish I’d saved it for Christmas.

Racksonracks · 19/11/2024 00:14

On the subject of water bottles, mine loved the larq self cleaning water bottle I got him for his birthday this year!

PaminaMozart · 19/11/2024 00:25

Make a donation to Medecins sans Frontiers (or whatever worthy cause he supports. Frame and wrap the receipt in an elaborate box.

On Christmas Eve, get naked and wrap yourself in quality wrapping paper, secured with a big bow. Serve yourself with a quality bottle of bubbly.

Sorted.

Rainbowqueeen · 19/11/2024 00:32

An experience voucher - he clearly likes getting out and about.

National Trust membership, escape room, night away, theatre, sauna to cold water dipping experience, festival.

TheSandgroper · 19/11/2024 01:23

A smart leather belt? I think DD is going with that for her boyfriend
A new wallet?
Penhaligon do a 5 pack of small smellies. I think DH is going to be getting that.

Bear with me here. I love looking through the photos on https://www.reddit.com/r/EDC/. Once you get through the guns and knives, you can look up all the various pouches etc and see what those companies also make. I have had a lovely time searching them up. Also car storage and useful stuff.

bitjel · 19/11/2024 10:54

He is so difficult, surely he can't be the only one?

I think I've put this on another thread but a hat from the Cotswold Hat Company and we bought DH a wildlife camera. He loves seeing whats been in the garden at night (I quite enjoy it too)

Kitkat1523 · 19/11/2024 18:52

We don’t buy each other anything …problem sorted 🤷‍♀️

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 19/11/2024 18:54

We’ve agreed not to buyt for each other. Just the kids. It’s so much pressure off.

LuckyCharm9 · 19/11/2024 19:09

I got my husband a lord of the rings map and framed it. He’s also got a couple of aftershaves and I’ve ordered the Folio Society edition of the LOTR books.

I know we aren't talking about my husband but ... this is my husband

Doesn't do holidays, doesn't watch films, nor read nor fish nor ride a bike
Nowt. de nada

I'm imagining these men just sitting there staring at a wall.

I don't understand how you got together with them. I like someone with hobbies and interests, someone with something to talk about.

JellicleCat · 19/11/2024 19:33

I have an equally difficult husband. Doesn't like sport, not interested in clothes, not tea total but hardly drinks, buys stuff himself for his main hobby (electronics).

We now do present lists for each other. This works both ways and means we get what we want and like. Before we started doing the lists I once got some rather hideous t-shirts in colours I don't wear.

And thank you for the wildlife camera idea, think this might fit the bill.

Sadik · 19/11/2024 19:34

Does he have an outdoors job? I got DP a good quality merino base layer last year which was very well received.

And plenty of people don't have kit requiring hobbies but aren't boring! DP plays the piano, he has a piano & a sub to a sheet music site, he doesn't need anything else, & there's no point buying stuff for the sake of it. Fortunately for me he does always like clothes / accessories, so stealing the leather belt idea for this year.

CandyStripedCookieJar · 19/11/2024 20:56

A really good quality multi tool penknife type thing?
Is he outdoors with his job all the time?

SweetSugarPlum · 19/11/2024 20:59

Does he get you to scratch his back? Backscratcher for a stocking filler 😅

Fuckthecamelyourodeinon · 19/11/2024 21:20

I hear you. Mine doesn't drink, doesn't like football, doesn't follow a team, does sport but has the stuff he needs for that, cycles but has the stuff he needs for that, doesn't do smellies, no interest in going to the theatre, no interest in clothes, doesn't need a dressing gown, or gloves or any of the usual 'buy a man this for Xmas' stuff.

I on the other hand would like a waterproof baseball cap. Sorted.

Oh yes, wildlife cameras can be fascinating. I have two now. DH bought me a second one for Christmas so I could cover more of the garden.

My primary interest was hedgehogs, which we have seen loads of now but without the cameras wouldn't have seen at all.

There have also been some real surprises. The polecat was the most unexpected visitor. We live in a housing estate in a town and had no idea that something like that might be roaming our garden in the night.

We also have a short clip of the moment a sparrowhawk killed a blackbird by the pond, which is a bit sad.
