Tiny token stocking fillers

SleepingJeans · 11/11/2024 07:37

Having hoardes of people this year and according to our family lore everyone gets a visit from FC so all adult guests will get a stocking. With the amount of people it will be expensive. Any ideas for teeny tiny things or.pleasing homemade stuff? Im just doing small ones for the token fun of it so doesnt need to be tonnes.

@LadyGabriella or maybe alive and well through well meaning gift givers 🤣
I'm sure some people do love a bath bomb though.

LadyGabriella · 13/11/2024 19:07

Hmm I guess bath bombs are less popular than I thought 😂 fair enough.

SeaToSki · 13/11/2024 19:10

If you think of something you want, like a pack of cards, type it into amazon with bulk beside it. It brings up the multipack options, which are often poorer quality but much less expensive and often just fine for its purpose

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/11/2024 19:11

Chocolate orange
Pringles
Bubble bath/shower gel
Second hand paperback book

All relatively high volume/low cost

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/11/2024 19:11

Also next years's calendar - look in Poundland etc

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 13/11/2024 19:11

Put a load of fake/indoor snowballs in them to bulk things out and then you can all lace a snowball fight too. 🤪

Whichone2024 · 13/11/2024 19:15

Multipacks of cheap fluffy bed socks can help pad out the stockings.

maybe even multipacks of magic gloves? Bath sponges?
multipacks of hot chocolates sachets split up because then can add packs of marshmallows that can be quite bulky!

That’s a cool idea all the kids in my life would love, I may use it 😂

Packs of batteries (AA are popular).
Small scented candle (St Eval are great)
Nice lip balm
Book or magazine (great if you can find a good magazine that ties in with their interests)
Packs of face wipes
Tiny perfume sample
Small Christmas Lego model (they make wonderful Christmas tree ornaments after making)

You're on your own with the men, I'm afraid.

Serriadh · 13/11/2024 19:19

Get a multipack of “nice” Christmas tree decorations and split them up between the stockings.

Whichone2024 · 13/11/2024 19:21

Oh and tissues! Get multipacks of Christmas themed ones from Poundland!

LadyGabriella · 13/11/2024 19:22

Marzipan fruits.

I’d love them tbh but they don’t love me!

Pez dispensers! On eBay x

SomethingFun · 13/11/2024 19:48

Surely in 2024 we are getting past buying piles of tat for adults because it’s Christmas 😁 if everyone must have a stocking I’d go really traditional with a satsumas, some nuts and choc coins. Maybe a shared game if you’re all into that.

goingdownfighting · 13/11/2024 19:52

Adult stocking fillers:

Car air fresheners
A sauce or a jar of fancy pickle.
Pill boxes
Terry chocolate orange
Rituals minis
Compact mirrors
Socks
Hair clips/ties/comb
Back scratchers
Resistance bands.

CrispieCake · 13/11/2024 20:04

I would put in novelty Christmas glasses (cardboard) and a funny Christmas hat, then you can take some funny photos of everyone during the day.

I've just bought DD a Harry Potter Pez dispenser from Etsy!

Home bargains or maybe b and m have little quizzes in a box for around 75p. I also think consumables work well- sweets, drinks, shower gel/bubble bath tissues, hand sanitiser etc depending on budget lots of the supermarkets and budget shops have mugs and glasses v reasonably priced, I think people who are poo pooing buying small treats and socks etc need to remember that every family are different. Sadly many people are currently in a position where they are unable to spend any money on themselves and will value these bits and bobs. Or like me while having money to spend still enjoy ‘cheap shower gel and nylon socks’! Dont yuck someone’s yum’ we are all different

christmaspudding43 · 13/11/2024 22:37

The key message is definitely that every family is different. I don't think it's about dismissing anyone's ideas but sharing a wide variety of suggestions to help OP choose for people she presumably has some idea about.

If I was going to be at OP's and receiving one of the stockings I'd love chocolate, lip balm, a book or magazine (secondhand welcomed).

I love them but St Eval candles are at least £12 each for a tiny one this year. I think OP's budget is lower than that for multiple stockings.

HoppityBun · 13/11/2024 23:03

I don’t think it matters exactly what goes in, because it’s the excitement of unpacking and unwrapping and the sounds it makes. Adults want the fun, not monetary value and sounds of crackling paper are important. A tin of Quality Street and wrap each sweet in paper and secure with Christmas tape. Go to The Works and pick up stationery items because they’re good value. A pack each of Christmas tissues. Wrap a tangerine and out in the toe. Get for each person a bath bomb from Lush. Get those Biscoffi biscuits where you get two biscuits in a cellophane packet: wrap each mini pack in paper and put one each in each stocking. Go to TKMaxx and get mini soaps: wrap each one. A cotton handkerchief each. Look for things where you can split a large box or tin of contents. The satisfaction will come from the length of time it takes to unwrap: the longer the better. Key ring torches, mini puzzles

You can buy a pack of St Eval tealights for under a tenner for nine and then split the pack nine ways. They smell just as good as the bigger candles.
