For DH it’s a really strong cheddar. Far stronger than supermarkets seem to sell.
We each get a box of Hotel Chocolat which we start on Christmas Eve and mine last a few weeks. I will get an alcohol free Rum. Used to have real rum at Christmas but developed a sudden allergy. I may think of others but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Tia Maria and Baileys - used for Christmas baking, adding to hot chocolate and generally just enjoying of a cold dark evening.

Brie and saltine crackers, salted cashews, mini sausage rolls.

I'll make some Nigella Christmas fruit cake and snack on that for a few weeks - yum!

Livinginaclock · 27/10/2024 13:52

@Pistolpunk
That pop tart tradition is adorable.

@Samandytimlucypeterolivia
Worcestershire twiglets would easily fit into my menu (and my belly). What a shame.

Aww thank you 😊 the youngest teen has been going on about it already regarding the xmas food cupboard and the poptarts .its the only time I buy them is xmas. It started with the 25 and 21 year old when they were very young, but it would not be xmas without them now 😂

EllaPaella · 27/10/2024 13:55

Lebekuchen

Chilli jam for cheese
Panettone (I love Sainsbury's orange and dark chocolate one) to be dipped into nod morning coffee

Pate. I love it don't know why I only buy at Christmas.

Rest stinky cheese because it can stay outside in the eski and not stink the house out.

Pardon me for my ignorance but what’s an eski?

Can't forget the cheese footballs, home made tiffin, salted almonds and Delia's pistachio stables.

I'm curious too , I imagine it to be some sort of insulated coolbox that is banished to the garage

@Pinkkisugarmouse

A rum allergy?? Don't scare me like this!! 😩

Do you know how/why etc???

I used to have a bit of a list of Christmas Food Treats, but it's getting smaller & smaller as certain things just aren't like they used to be! One of them was Quality Street, but not only have they ruined the chocolates, they've now ruined the twinkle of the wrappers under the Christmas tree lights (traditional not LED) so they'll drop off the list this year too 😢

GroovyChick87 · 27/10/2024 14:45

Alcohol
Bottles of pop
Tins of chocolates
Cheese board
Patè
Madagascan vanilla custard
Brandy cream/ normal cream
Cooked sliced ham

An esky is Aussie slang for a cool box.

StillSmallVoice · 27/10/2024 14:54

A chicken liver pate I make every year. It involves cream and three sorts of booze.

Livinginaclock · 27/10/2024 15:14

Ooh, I make a stuffing every year with chicken livers, we call it, "murderers stuffing", as it looks like you murdered someone when you blend the livers.

I was a very occasional drinker. I was also a real lightweight so after two rum and Diet Coke I would be laughing at my own shoelaces. Then out of the blue in my late twenties I started to get uncomfortable pains in my jaw and cheeks if I had rum or a glass of wine. Then the pains were dreadful and I couldn’t swallow. So yep out of the blue I became allergic to alcohol. It’s not just rum though. All alcohol.

Pinkkisugarmouse · 27/10/2024 17:12

No idea why. Apparently we can develop allergies at any time in our lives.

OP posts:
CrepuscularCritter · 27/10/2024 17:59

Orangettes here too
Chestnuts (and maybe marron glaces)
Advocaat
A lactose free blue cheese for my annual blue cheese fix
Might have a go at making a tunis cake this year

Iclyn · 27/10/2024 18:03

We are not a family that sits down to a roast much throughout the year ( maybe 4 / 5 times ) so really enjoy the Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.
Also have to have some nice cheeses in .

Mydahliasareshit · 27/10/2024 18:17

A box of Famous Names chocolate liqueurs. Childhood tradition, and it feels like my parents are still present in some way for the festivities.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/10/2024 20:18

Garners pickled onions and red cabbage for the Christmas Eve cheese-fest

Peters Yard crackers and Stokes chilli jam

Lebkuchen - as many kinds as I can get my greedy little paws on

The adult dc like Quality Street but I think they're horrible now, so it would be nice to find something with a similar vibe to replace them
