wtf do I buy a seven month old for Christmas

I mean just the title really. My nephew will be 7 months old at Christmas and it's obviously his first Christmas so we want to make it special.

But what do I get him?! They have all the normal baby stuff because he's the second baby 😩

A lovely outfit or book
A special teddy?

WoodyCoppicePlantationAlmaMater · 08/10/2024 14:07

What's your budget?

HappyDane · 08/10/2024 14:07

A book. A cuddly toy. A winter hat.

Realistically due to other family members and birthdays during December it'll be £20-£25 per person m, we have 7 birthdays in the week before Christmas!

(yes they'll have some of each of those already but baby will still like another book/toy and parents will be happy for an extra hat)

butteriesplease · 08/10/2024 14:08

clothes. baby books. a bumbo seat? What did you get your other nephew/niece for their first Christmas? get him that?

LeavesTrees · 08/10/2024 14:10

I would get him something to grow into - something ready for when he is crawling or walking - like the toys that roll along the floor that they can follow, or a push-along toy or wooden puzzles.

BarnacleBeasley · 08/10/2024 14:10

He won't care, he's a baby. I would get him a hilarious Christmas outfit that everyone else can enjoy. This will work particularly well if his older sibling was born at a different time of year and was therefore wearing a different size at Christmas. Also he'll probably like it if you give it to him in a massive cardboard box.

We went quite crazy, because she was the first we all spent ££££ on her! Now everything is being passed down and through the family it's hard to come up with consistently new ideas

Tomy hide and squeak eggs.

espressomartinii · 08/10/2024 14:12

A personalised keepsake like a nice tree decoration or a little book. Or put £20 in a bank account for him.

Realistically a 7 month old isn't going to notice if you don't get them something fancy to open. They won't be opening gifts like everyone else, they're just happy to be getting fuss and cuddles from family.

HappyDane · 08/10/2024 14:12

You don't have to have new ideas though. They're babies. They love books, toys, etc. Even if they already have something similar.

I'm just conscious of filling their houses with more crap

For example I've found a lovely dolls set one of my nieces would adore, but her parents already have loads of dolls and accessories 😩

I just had a Google at personalised Christmas story books (where his name/the family name could appear) and they are in budget, that would make a nice keepsake.

Rainallnight · 08/10/2024 14:18

I’m sorry about the horrible long links 🤦🏻‍♀️

JumpstartMondays · 08/10/2024 14:18

Do they have any outside space? Something a toy for outside? Game of skittles, e.g.?

Money for an outing to....a kids farm ? A soft play?

A keepsake money box?

Singleandproud · 08/10/2024 14:18

£25 in premium bonds to get him started. If you do that every birthday and Christmas he'll have £900 at 18.

Probably more if or when they 'win' anything

WoodyCoppicePlantationAlmaMater · 08/10/2024 14:20

I think the premium bond idea is great

Purposefullyporous · 08/10/2024 14:21

Maybe a softplay voucher? Or a mini steam railway voucher? Something for a day out rather than more stuff

Oh that's fair enough for sure. In that case I wouldn't worry about trying to match what you have already given - he'll get loads of enjoyment from those things so there's already made it even IYSWIM.

That's why I suggested a book and a small toy - you can't really have too many.

I like suggestions above to give money gift.

beetr00 · 08/10/2024 14:22

How about these?

purplecorkheart · 08/10/2024 14:23

What about something that they can hang on the wall in his nursery?
