I mean just the title really. My nephew will be 7 months old at Christmas and it's obviously his first Christmas so we want to make it special.

But what do I get him?! They have all the normal baby stuff because he's the second baby 😩

A set of bath stacking cups. Genuinely, the most played with toy for years and often over-looked as gifts because they’re cheap and garish.

I was literally about to post the same thing! I got them for my DS's first Christmas. They progressed from bath to sandpit and paddling pool when they were older.

(He's 18 now and obviously doesn't still play with them, but I am sure I haven't thrown them out and they must be somewhere with the last toys he played with. Hmm I'm a bit of a hoarder. Maybe I can keep them for grandchildren...?!)

@itwasnevermine well that's on them giving unrealistic expectations to the 3 year old. Santa doesn't bring all the presents, 1) it's unfair on those children that don't get much and 2) its unfair on the adults and extended family that have put time and thought into presents gor the parents to pass them off as from Santa.

Buy some stacking cups for the gift or similar and then add to savings / premium bonds.

Honestly we bought a few wooden blocks and a flap book and stuck £50 in the jisa

the book was hello mr duck and was a smash hit

edit:
+1 on stacking cups it’s the singular best value toy we have ever bought

They want stuff but they don't know what 😩 they have a three year old who's really into Santa etc so they don't want her getting confused about why he's not brought anything for her little brother!

I'm sure between their parents and other family members that there will be some presents there for the baby . Surely they can just tell the 3 year old that Santa doesn't bring much for babies until they are older and actually need things ?

Also, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer book: www.amazon.co.uk/Rudolph-Red-Nosed-Reindeer-Classic-Board/dp/1534400273

If this is the original story, which I think it is, it's definitely one for their Christmas library. It's a story in verse that gave Rudolf life.

My Mum used to read it to me when I was small. I now have adult children and still read it to myself every Christmas, even though I know it word for word.

Full sleeve waterproof bibs. They get wrecked with previous children and weaning tends to start at 6m so perfect timing.

I like the the Hippychick ones, they go in the nappy wash!

We bought something similar for DS he was wearing a pair when we left the house and came back with one.

£25 in premium bonds to get him started. If you do that every birthday and Christmas he'll have £900 at 18.

Agree with this, although you can only buy Premium Bonds on behalf of a child until they reach 16, then there's an irritating process for the child to take ownership of their account. A child savings account is a nice idea too, they don't make a lot of interest generally but at least they aren't taxed.

My DS is so difficult to buy for as he doesn't really want anything much, so my mum has bought him PB for years now. We've added to it with an inheritance from a GP and his child savings account plus the government's child saver account. It's handy to have an alternative to giving a physical present when the child isn't interested in buyable stuff, or the house/storage space is small.

Saying that, the first presents are easy as the child is blissfully unaware and you can buy anything, it won't matter. My FIL bought a blue Baby's First Christmas bauble for DS, it was fine!

My daughter will be seven months at Christmas. I don't think we're getting her anything 🤷🏻‍♀️ She'll be very happy with the wrapping paper I'm sure 😅
