Gifts for a back packer

Trying to think of a few small gifts for my DD. She’s mid 20’s and does a lot of travelling, usually back packing. As she’s actually home this Christmas I’d like to get her a few gifts, ideally something small and something useful for travelling. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You can get some small ‘leaves’ of soap in a little flat box. Takes up less space than a bar or a bottle of shower gel. I’d think the bars of shampoo and conditioner too.

The soap is a really good idea, thank you. I’m pretty sure she already has shampoo bars. Any recommendations for the soap, please

Not quite what you asked but John Lewis do a fab little backpack bauble!

Actually I always buy her a Christmas bauble, so that’s a great idea

Travel diary?

We bought a travelling couple friend a double headed coin so they could win every decision toss whilst travelling with their partner. Obviously a joke but a bit of fun too.

Scratch off world map so they can see where they've been???

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I think a new really small, but powerful power bank would be appreciated. A double headed coin would be good for me too ….. always get the decision I want 😀

Oh my sons would like that @Hopeful16

Both my DC have been travelling for the last few years. My dd swears by packing cubes as she is so messy they help her sort things. DS likes packing cubes but doesn't use them for everything like dd does.

I bought both of them a solar power bank which you can charge as normal but can also charge it in the sun. Comes with clips to clip on to your bag so it charges as you are on the move.

Universal plug adaptors.

Lock with long fine chain if travelling by train so you can clip bag to luggage rack if you aren't sitting next to it.

Elizabeth Arden 8hour skin protectant cream. Can use it for everything!

FeltCarrot · 05/10/2024 10:05

Can I ask where you got the solar power bank from? My dd is going travelling next year and this sounds brilliant!

RabbitsRock · 05/10/2024 10:11

You can get metal water bottles which are completely recyclable & refillable - DH & I got ours with spring water in from The Science Museum ( surprisingly reasonably priced too) but I’ve bought them in other places.

RabbitsRock · 05/10/2024 10:12

Sorry I meant refillable for ages! Obviously they’re refillable 🤣

I think we eventually got them on Amazon. DS looked into it on a travel blog site and looked at a few.

Could she use new earbuds?
Or I swear by my Snoozeband for travelling -eye mask and flat ear phones for sleeping in, especially when noisy or bright in your room.

Thank you, so many ideas.

I think a long thin chain for travelling by train would be good, would you recommend a particular one?

I just googled and found these which is similar to what my DC have used. Lightweight but useful if luggage has to be kept away from you and not in the most aaccessible part of the train/bus/whatever.

I know it's not 'a little' gift but a Kindle is an amazing backpacking gift. Also a set of plastic refillable bottles and a bum bag
