It find it a dull, grey, boring and quiet week. Nothing going on, No more one has any money left, pubs/restaurants are closed/close early as no one is going out (until NYE that is). I looked at going on holiday for this week, but the cost was too much.

What does everyone else do ?

That's probably my favourite week of the year!

We go on walks, see family, play with Christmas presents, watch movies, pub lunches, eat leftovers.

We just use the time to wind down after Christmas and spend time together before the chaos of returning back to school/ work.

Football.
Me and DH go into London for a mooch and a few drinks.
Meet up with wider family.
Best few days of the festive period for us.

HoppityBun · 18/09/2024 11:38

I chill. I do whatever I feel like doing. Stay in bed, read, walk, listen to podcasts, meet friends for a meal. Bask in the knowledge that most people are not at work and the buggers can’t get at you. It’s ultimate freedom. I do not go shopping.

elderflowerspritzer · 18/09/2024 11:39

Eat cheese, play games, go for walks, watch movies, catch up with friends.

It's the best time of the year!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 18/09/2024 11:41

When the dch were at home, cinema and Yo Sushi, panto, long dog walks. Now once they've gone I can start on a big stack of library books. I always read A Christmas Carol tucked up in bed. Love it!

We call it twixmas Blush terribly twee, I know.

Depends on how the days fall, if working then enjoying quieter week than normal. If not, then loafing around eating cheese/striding out purposefully on a circular walk/visiting or hosting rellies.

We call it Blursday! 😂😂

Tdcp · 18/09/2024 11:47

nothing, I do nothing. I have about 10 days off at xmas so I sit and play games with the kids, eat and drink lots of food and generally forget what day it is. It's great.

BettyBardMacDonald · 18/09/2024 11:53

Usually a substantial DIY project.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 18/09/2024 12:06

We go away. One year we went to Porto and was lovely during the day, in the 20’s. Sometimes go to visit mil as she lives by the sea. We have a holiday home in Norfolk so we were there last year.

HippeePrincess · 18/09/2024 12:10

Years I’ve been working I’ve been… at work unless I’ve managed to get the time off. I wangled 2 Christmases at home for Mat leave/adding on additional annual leave either side so last year we enjoyed our first Christmas together, had family over, the year before I was ill. The days do blur into each other when not at work but it’s just like any other day really get on with the usual, and eat leftovers.

TomandJerrysmousehunt · 18/09/2024 12:10

I'm really not looking forward to this 'inbetween' week. I'll probably WAH. I cannot sit and veg for a week/do nothing. The shops will be like jumble sales with the sales going on. My DC are teens and will be more than likely doing their own thing.

My favourite time of the year! It’s the only week most of my industry properly shuts down so no 7am or midnight calls and texts and the break is respected more than annual leave.

I visit family, chill out, scruff about in pyjamas, eat as and when I feel like it, sleep, walk, watch tv.

It’s the one week of the year I can properly decompress and sets me up for the rest of the year.

RuthW · 18/09/2024 12:18

Work

Poggishairtufts · 18/09/2024 12:24

I LOVE this week, get to do what I want so cinema, swimming, eating, sales shopping, maybe see some people, eat cheese and Christmas cake, listen to records and do jigsaws, long dog walks.

Well what do you do any other week off in the year?

saveforthat · 18/09/2024 12:29

Chrimbo Limbo, when you sleep 14 hours a day.
Anyone remember that advert? I loved that song.

Delphigirl · 18/09/2024 12:30

Jigsaws and picking at cold ham, mostly. Love it!

buddieitsdestiel · 18/09/2024 12:31

gorge on leftover christmas food and watch the jurassic park movies (you can fit one a day perfectly!) and do puzzles and sleep and continue listening to christmas music to annoy everyone 😌

TomandJerrysmousehunt · 18/09/2024 12:32

@goestheweasel I go to the gym, see friends, walk. I will work, but it will be really really quite, so I will have shorter working days and then loads of gym work I might do some drawing. I cant sit around all day doing nothing.

Usually go to my parents’ if we had Xmas at home, or go home if we had Xmas at our parents’.

This year my aim is to not have to haul the kids anywhere. So we’re having Xmas at home and then my parents are coming to us between Xmas and new year.

As for what we’ll actually do, mainly eat, walk and play but might go to a panto or event of some sort. But agree it’s quite a bleak week - I like the bleakness and LOVE getting prepped for a new year. I love January!

Anisty · 18/09/2024 12:32

Board game central here - and NOT the boring trad games like Monopoly and Cluedo. We are total board game geeks and well up with what's new and exciting on the market.

Dominion remains up there as my number one but we have a lot of games that up to 10 can sit round in a big circle and play.

Always have some Christmas jigsaw on the go.

And, some years we have done a panto in that week.

We also have friends round and eat and drink far too much

SmugglersHaunt · 18/09/2024 12:32

My favourite week of the year! Like a mini-lockdown (which I also loved)

Quitecontrarywithnoflowers · 18/09/2024 12:33

I love this week! It’s the only time of the year that I get to see my husband really relaxed bc his clients can’t get at him! A lovely time to chill and be a family.

gamerchick · 18/09/2024 12:33

Work usually. I'd quite like a chunk of time off between the 2.

Comedycook · 18/09/2024 12:34

I hate that week...so boring, such crap weather, so dark...
