Can anyone give me some ideas what to get my boys this Xmas? They're at that stage where toys are out of the question, even Lego... they might want an Xbox game but apart from that, all I get is "I don't know" 😂ideas for gifts and stocking fillers please 🙏🏼 x

For stockings:
Socks
"Fancy" or branded shower gel
Mini pringles, smarties, sweets, junk food in general
A key ring

With gifts, it really depends on what they're into! Do they do any extracurricular activities that you could buy them things for? If they're only playing video games in their spare time I'd make a sincere effort to get them into sports/hobbies now while you have more input into what they do. My neighbour's teenage son is holed up in his room gaming every spare minute and it gets tiring listening to him raging so much. Can't be good for him to be so sedentary either.

Thank you some great ideas!!

For goodness sake it’s June!! They will probably change their minds a hundred times before then anyway!!
Save the money and get it nearer the time when they know what they want.
Get out and enjoy the summer while it’s here!!! 🤷

Why are you on the Christmas thread then?? 🤨 we have always started in June/July to spread the cost like many other people. Why so negative?! 🙄

Didn’t realise I was, it popped up in my active box!
I get spreading the cost but can’t you put the money by, how can kids know what they want this early in the year?

Ah ok. I do for the bigger stuff but we've always got a head start, especially with prime day, sales etc. We also have a business specialising in seasonal decor so from October we're flat out and there's rarely spare time for shopping. They've never really changed their mind to be honest, (and luckily for me!) always grateful for what they get just wanted some ideas that's all, as it can get repetitive buying a football kit or rugby ball etc. I swear I have about 30 🙃🤣

I think you have missed the whole idea of the Christmas threads.
We like talking about Christmas and all it entails.
We keep it on the Christmas threads so that we don't offend.

gardenmusic · 25/06/2024 11:23

Could they be trusted with a cricket ball? Asking because they can do a bit of damage.

Okay, that's great, so could you buy them nice football boots, some biking accessories for the main presents then? Maybe a go pro so that they could record their rides?

Exactly, thank you @gardenmusic :) actually cricket may be a good idea, we live out in the country. I'll definitely add that to my list, maybe a cricket set. They love outdoor stuff and haven't had one before. Appreciate that! xx

Ooh I didn't think of biking accesories. They play in football teams so will usually have boots etc. Thanks @BluPeony x

You can get some efficient, if not very attractive, rain jackets that pack away so small that they could fit in a pocket.
Depending on your stress levels, there are several books on household experiments, which might be fun - or not!

Really? They would love those jackets. It'll save them throwing them on the floor 😂I'll have a google!!

My kids have a rubber cricket ball that’s a bit less vicious than a leather one!
Also football grip socks seem to be popular.
Maybe a rubix cube?

Good idea with the rubber ball! 🥎
I didn't know football grip socks were a thing! lol all added to the list. Thank you so much so glad I asked 😃

Room decor - lights, signs, beanbag
Board games if they like those
Rubiks cube
Electronics kit
Chemistry kit

A few random ideas based on what I'm thinking for my 10 and 7 year olds. I understand why you are starting this early, I also have work that fluctuates dramatically depending on the seasons and like to have Christmas presents mostly planned out by early autumn.

Thank you so much! I've jotted them down 😄 aw really!? It's hard isn't it. I was so stressed last year as we didn't estimate how busy we would get. Luckily I was all sorted present wise so definitely want to be ready again this year 😂

My son is only 7 this winter but if your boys are equally outdoorsy, alternative ideas might be:

  • den kit - the army style tent-like ones (think bear Grylls, scouts website sell lots of outdoor kids bits) maybe some walky talkies (not kiddie ones obviously 😉)
  • night vision goggles
  • beanie hats with led lights built in
  • bought my son a build your own bat detector kit once from amazon (to build with dad) with simple wires, batteries etc which works brilliantly if you're near countryside/woods
  • metal detector
  • rock collection/polisher (my son loves fancy rocks 😃)
Ophy83 · 25/06/2024 21:18

Some fab ideas already!

I would add:

Smart games (available in independent toy stores and on Amazon) - my son loves them, very handy when out and about at restaurants

Card games, either classic cards or a game like cat, taco, goat, cheese, pizza

Cashmere beanie from zara or similar - good price and super soft/non itchy

A graphic novel like Investigators or Bunny vs Monkey

A can of bubble tea if they like it

Fontainebleau007 · 25/06/2024 23:06

@Ophy83 brilliant thanks so much! 😃

@JustCantBeBothered great too thank you 😃 we do have bats in our area, that kit sounds like a fab idea!

I have got a few bits and pieces as they were on offer. So far I have a Star Wars toiletry set, a small nerf gun (nerf guns always popular in our house). I also try and get something like a fidget spinner or small rubik cube type toy and then the rest sweets and Christmas chocolate boxes etc. Our stocking is quite small though as most presents for under the tree.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/06/2024 21:52

Rubik's cubes are always popular in that age range, judging by what I see at school

Comedycook · 29/06/2024 21:56

Water bottle
Beanie hat/baseball cap
Wallet
Rubix cube
Football magazine

Petal7 · 29/06/2024 22:19

Moonball
Slime
Fluffy socks
Hot chocolate flakes/sachets
Can of fizzy drink
Pack of cards/Monopoly Deal/Sushi Go
Nike socks
LED lights
Torch
Pez dispenser
Shower gel
Swimming goggles/micro towel/trunks/skimming ball (Wahoba,I think is the brand)
Notebook and pen
Su Doku/Quiz book
Big tube of Smarties
Chocolate Orange
