Spider season has started here. My husband found a massive chunky spider wrapped in a web with a cellar spider on top if anyone fancies seeing it. (It is kind of gruesome yet fascinating).

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2024 14:42

And that's why you keep the cellar spiders! 🙈🤣

We had a cellar spider in our downstairs loo that kept eating other spiders. DH was a bit peeved as he wants spiders as they eat the flies that he absolutely detests 😂

So my lower throat is now feels as though something is lodged in it so I think that unfortunately rather than going into my stomach the bone is now lodged there. I have an appointment on Friday but they have said if it gets painful to call them and they will get me in. At least this time I know I won’t be left to suffer.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2024 18:48

One of our cats was eyeballing something in the garden yesterday ( usually ghosts) it was a masssive spider in the middle of a web. Luckily he is too idle to do more than glare

So many Christmas threads now 🎄🤶🏻🎅🏻🎄 I’ve ordered lots of presents so actually doing well on the present front.

@NoWordForFluffy Please can you send some of your energy this way. Just seen your cleanalong list on the other thread, how do you have time for everything? I feel hugely overwhelmed with a massive to do list. I could write it all out, but it seems so long, so I don’t feel like doing any of it. Does anyone else do that?

I get bursts of motivation these days. When I was younger, I was like the Duracell bunny and could be up and at 'em from dawn til dusk. Not so much now I'm nearing 50! 😩🤣

Normally I wait til something is really pissing me off, then do it!

I'm very glad I've tidied the hall paintwork though as it looks lovely (not perfect, but the lines are much better, and the skirting looks nicer after having had the top painted)! I'll hopefully do the bedrooms at the weekend.

The garage is going to be the thing which kills me! But I'm determined to do it.

I went upstairs earlier to put DD's sports kit (newly name-labelled: Stickins!) away and went down a wormhole of sorting clothes in the wardrobe. I then did DS' as well. DH has a bag to go to the school, for the 'uniform bank', and two bags for his mum to take to the clothes bank at her church.

I then bit the bullet and ironed 8 shirts and two skirts. They are also now labelled with her name, along with her new raincoat and blazer. So many things to label!

I'm going to sit and finish stitching Christmas card number 6 now!

@NoWordForFluffy Wow!! It’s like that Friends episode, where Ross lists what he’s done in a morning, and Joey says that’s a weeks worth of activities!

I’m in bed with DD. She couldn’t get to sleep, worrying about school on Thursday. She’s asleep now. But now I can’t be bothered to get up again. I feel exhausted 😴

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2024 20:42

Young kids take it out of you. I was exhausted with really young kids.

And I find it very easy to sit and do nothing, if I let myself. But I found things tonight which I'd asked DH to do, which he hadn't properly, so I had the power of pissed off again!

Yesterday I got stuck into cleaning and organising as the flat needed it. DD had a big wobble so spent the evening looking for alternative accommodation but hoping it's just a "reality sinking in" wobble and she settles.

Back to work today. Need to order 2 presents to be delivered to DM house (for events there - but also putting her off the scent of a surprise visit 😁). Busy at weekends for the next 5 weeks at least, but probably until mid-November. Lot of it travel related (some work, some personal) and will need to do a few overnights to DD as well.

I do the same thing. Once I've sat/lay down, then I'm just too tired to get back up and get things done. So I have to power through from getting from work otherwise it just doesn't get done 😫

Yes! Sitting down is fatal. I get nothing done once I've plonked my arse down.

DD started high school today. 🥺 I may have wept a little. #embarrassingmum

Hope your DD has a great first day @NoWordForFluffy - that will be us in 2 years. I’ll be lost on Thursday when DC starts preschool, I’ll definitely cry too.

Guess what I saw at Waitrose today…………..

Hoping how is your throat today?

Fluffy glad to hear I'm not the only one who does rage cleaning, although if it's DH who's caused the additional work, I make him do it 😂

Hope your DD has a great first day!

Loves I mostly wfh and try and keep the little jobs ticking over while I'm here (I clean the bathroom on my lunch breaks, dishwasher while waiting for my lunch to heat, that kind of thing) then get a few bigger things done between finishing work and sitting down, otherwise I'd never get back up and do them!

If the magazines are starting it means it's definitely festive season jennifer Xmas Grin

I woke up with a cracking headache this morning and it's only now starting to shift. I have housework jobs to do between finishing work and DH getting home and cross stitch plans for the evening so hoping the headache stays away 🤞🏼

Magnoliasunrise · 03/09/2024 16:02

How did your DD get on today Fluffy? I had a few secret tears when mine started high school. Hope she had a good day.

I went back yesterday but the kids don't come in till tomorrow so it was nice to get things sorted while school was peaceful.

Good spot Jennifer, I saw mince pies in Sainsburys yesterday 😩. I love Christmas but surely its too soon for mince pies?

Starting my first ever Christmas cross stitch tonight, you might hear the swearing.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 03/09/2024 17:28

I'm not a mince pie fan but I think as long as the weather has become chilly (and you want one), it's fine to have a mince pie <disclaimer, I am a total enabler> Xmas Grin

Which cross stitch did you go for magnolia?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/09/2024 18:26

Mince pies you say.............?
Pre-packed ir Bakery ?
(Asking for a friend , obvs) Xmas Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2024 19:04

Ooh, aren't the bakery Sainsbos' ones your faves, 70?!

Magnolia, she seemed to enjoy it. They had Everton in running them ragged, so she's knackered! 🤣🤣 Tomorrow is a uniform day, rather than today's PE kit. They were the only year in today as well.

OP posts:
TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 03/09/2024 19:18

DESPITE Everton being in she enjoyed it, surely, Fluffy? 😉

Tesco had the start of their seasonal aisle when I popped in earlier today. Some chocolates and biscuits mainly. I didn't check for mince pies or stollen.

JenniferGreenHat · 03/09/2024 22:36

I didn’t buy the Christmas magazine - I’m not able to bake into baking. My sister is a chef, and it looks like she gained all the culinary skills. I need to learn how to cook properly to be honest, it’s quite embarrassing. It will be time to bake one of my semi annual cakes soon (DC will be 4) 🎂🍰🎂

It does seem early for mince pies. But I’m pretty sure I bought a creme egg in January one year, so I’m in no position to judge 🤣

BiddyPop · 04/09/2024 08:06

I had to leave my collection of Christmas magazines behind when I moved, I hope DH doesn't bin them! But I may indulge myself when they appear in the astronomically priced shop that sells a handful of UK magazines here.

Last night I was getting out my serving dishes and glasses, for Saturday. I have evening events today and tomorrow and I don't want to be in (too much of) a flap on Saturday as it's a big enough event to do solo (20 for food/drinks, early afternoon to whenever). So I plan to wrap cutlery in napkins tonight. I aim to food shop Friday night (after a late afternoon meeting with my boss!).

Colours starting to change on the trees so autumn definitely making itself felt.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 04/09/2024 10:15

112 It's very bright and clear outside right now but the weather has turned as I'm freezing!

biddy I spent Christmas in Norway a couple of years ago and bought a Norwegian Christmas magazine. Couldn't read a word obviously, but the pictures and ideas for simple (typical scandi) decorations etc were beautiful.

I have a busy busy work day today but am avoiding it by looking on mn I just want to log off, go back to bed and cross stitch (and finally finish my first bloody Christmas card - Fluffy you're putting me to shame)! Xmas Blush
