Greetings from Zante!! Now on holibobs and it's very hot.
DD said "look mum you'll be pleased, there's a washing machine" and rolled her eyes so I'm definitely NOT doing any washing for a week. Although it would be dry soooooo quickly 🤣.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/08/2024 21:01

I'd be washing everything, @Magnoliasunrise! 🤣🤣

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 02/08/2024 22:21

Saves washing it when you get home Magnolia 🤷

70 they're in the nasturtiums as well, but I only grow them as a sacrifice crop so they can fill their boots over there

JenniferGreenHat · 02/08/2024 22:53

Happy holiday @Magnoliasunrise ☀️☀️

Managing slightly better on our “holiday” at my parents. We went to a plane museum today which was really interesting. And DH arrived back tonight, so now things will be much easier. Off to the seaside tomorrow, pretty excited for a coconut ice and the arcade!

It's overcast here today, and looks like it might rain.

I've been crazy busy the last couple of days so haven't seen much of the news, but I've just seen the guy who carried out those attacks is 17!!

NoWordForFluffy · 03/08/2024 09:33

Yes, Firefly. Shocking, isn't it? He's 18 next week (which is one of the reasons he's been named), but still.

I'm going to try to find a pink miniature rose to take to Hart St today. They've asked for plants now, not flowers, so they can create a memorial garden. The teddies will eventually all be displayed in the Atkinson art centre, the council has said. DH went yesterday to pay his respects.

Loads of public buildings are lighting up pink over the weekend in memory of Alice, Bebe and Elsie. 🩷

FFS, it's all kicking off over here 🙄

They've closed the train station and buses aren't coming into the city centre (the hotel in the bus/train station houses refugees). There's a Superleague match on as well as an annual music festival; I feel so sorry for anyone just trying to have a nice Saturday afternoon.

I'm supposed to be going to my friend's but there's a huge fire not far from her so I don't know if the road will be closed.

I just want to sit in my PJ's, gossip and drink mojitos - is that too much to ask?!?

NoWordForFluffy · 03/08/2024 18:43

Oh god, of course. I saw that. Manchester too.

It needs to rain; that'll put a stop to it. They don't riot in rain.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 03/08/2024 18:48

Oh, and apparently it's also kicking off in Liverpool. Bloody idiots, the lot of them.

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 03/08/2024 19:02

It's just an excuse for violence. They've smashed car windows and tried to set fire to an independent garage. That's not making a statement, that's ruining someone's livelihood!

Racist f*ers!

Magnoliasunrise · 03/08/2024 20:34

That sounds awful Firefly and Fluffy. I'll pray for rain to calm them all down.

Same old shit here (washing and dishwasher etc not rioting), just hotter and I've just hung 4 towels out to dry overnight. 😂

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 04/08/2024 06:55

I hope you managed to find the roses you wanted Fluffy. If not, you could try Sainsbury's - they had some in all colours in ours and they're lovely.

I hope you managed to salvage a nice evening Firefly

I am exhausted. 2 nights out in a row followed by a morning flight means I am literally like a zombie working on 2 hours of sleep right now 😩

Will have a nap on the drive from airport to destination and power through.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/08/2024 12:44

Afternoon!

Yes, Meeces, I got one of the Sainsbury's ones after finding out they had them online. I did a little message on a pink gift tag to go in with them.

I hope you enjoy wherever you've flown to, and managed a Power Nap along the way!

DH has taken the kids to London for two nights this morning. He's not quite there yet, mind! I'm celebrating the peace and quiet by...cleaning!

Just the loo to go on the middle floor, then onwards to the top floor. 😩

I did manage a nice night, thanks Meeces. It was a 'games night ' but we just had a couple of drinks and put the world to rights.

I was only home about 2 hours for the entirety of the weekend. Spent most of yesterday in a nearby town with DS at free robot events at the library. They had one in the morning and one in the afternoon so I booked him onto both, then we went to DMIL for roast dinner 😋

Made some Christmas progress too - DMIL wants to host this year. DSIL is waiting to move into a new house so I wasn't sure if she would want to host her mum.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 05/08/2024 08:26

Fluffy whenever DH goes away for a few days I always spend the first afternoon cleaning and tidying - I find the house more relaxing and it's nice knowing it'll stay that way (until he returns anyway)!

Firefly I'm glad you salvaged your evening.

We're in Ireland. We checked in to our hotel and had a nap before going out for a wander, some food and drinks.

We're waiting for a few things to fall into place before we can arrange Christmas but I think we're going to spend it at home but have visitors for breakfast and possibly late afternoon pudding.
Usually once school starts again in September both my family and ILs start planning Xmas Grin

TeddyBeans · 05/08/2024 18:44

@whydoesitalwayshappentome I've been stalking this thread for a while and remembered your Dr who themed wedding post. This popped up on my FB feed just now and I thought of you (star wars but could easily be adapted to sonic screwdriver?)

We've had some cracking rain this evening, finally (kept having it forecast and nothing would appear, or very little!). The butt isn't full yet though, so more is needed. It's just starting to thunder, so 🤞

DH and the kids are back tomorrow. I spent this morning finding somewhere for them to eat at the food hall place in Wembley (top London hotel hack: stay in Wembley as it's dirt cheap if nothing's on, but it's only a quick tube ride into the centre on the Jubilee line) as DH didn't want pizza. Thankfully I found a hotdog / churros place, so all was well!

Tonight I've been route planning for them as DS wants to go to Big Ben / the HoP / London Eye to look, then onto Leicester Square to go to the Lego shop. They're up early to facilitate this before the train at 2.40!

Doggy has had a dodgy stomach. He got me up twice in the night, which is unheard of. Poor doggy. He also brought me home from his walk after 15 minutes this morning! He'd had enough!

Sleep now...if the thunder doesn't keep me awake!

140 ( that;s 20 weeks ! Xmas Grin )

Glad your DC are enjoying that Larndan @NoWordForFluffy

There's so much going on, I am planning Christmas Things centred round trips to the Capital.
Poor FluffyPup , it's worrying when they aren't well.

Our MaleCat just noisily chucked up grass/hairball in the garden , I went to see him and he gave me A Look as he went by . Little Git .

Bit of a rainfall here .
I have washing to sort and do before I get packed , then DH and I are off on Friday ...I need to write a Long List for DS and DD , they know it already , they've coped admirably before . I'm sure they won;t miss us at all provided they're left with food and some cash .

Hopingforno2in2024 · 06/08/2024 19:38

Hello all :) How is everyone?

I am starting to get into the Christmas spirit. I have ordered myself a cross stitch advent calendar, am making good progress on Merejka Spirit of Christmas and the Strictly contestants are being announced :)

NoWordForFluffy · 06/08/2024 19:47

Oh you're a bad influence, @Hopingforno2in2024. I just bought that cross stitch kit! Xmas Blush I love Merejka kits!

OP posts:
Hopingforno2in2024 · 06/08/2024 19:48

I am not remotely sorry @NoWordForFluffy 😂 It is my second Merejka and I have another in my stash, they are so lovely.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 07/08/2024 16:31

I love Merejka kits too. I've done the Christmas Night one and have the Christmas Guest in my to-do pile.
I really want the ToyShop one (pic) but can't justify it when I'm slow and have loads left to do Xmas Blush

Hoping what other kit have you got in your stash? <nosy>

Glad everyone is getting in the spirit. I'm sure mine will arrive properly soon... but not today as it was an office day. It's been busy and the air con was a bit excessive so I've been freezing and frazzled all day 😵‍💫

NoWordForFluffy · 07/08/2024 18:39

I'm on my second Merejka and have the London one Hoping did the other year, plus the one on the way in my stash. I'm currently on Venice of the North and it's epic (15x11 inches).

I did a John Clayton full coverage toy shop one, Meeces. It's lovely!
