This has probably been asked 1000 times but can I see your full Christmas menu's please. Everything you plan to eat Christmas day and for your Turkey dinner (if you're having one)
We've had the idea of having our starters Christmas eve, melon and grapes for the kids, prawn cocktail for DH and I, then soup and nice bread. Full turkey dinner and desert christmas day with no starters but want to check I'm not missing anything off my list

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with smoked streaky bacon, Bucks Fizz

Christmas lunch: Smoked salmon terrine on a bed of rockett (very light)

Roast Norfolk black turkey, 18th century chestnut stuffing (a fab Delia Smith recipe) roasted Winter vegetables

Christmas pudding and brandy sauce

Later in the evening we'll have a very light buffet of hams (usually Suffolk black) cheeses and chutneys, we'll have that with some port

Loved reading this thread for Xmas vibes!

we have Xmas just our small family, so only 2 adults. Also not in the UK anymore so left the turkey tradition behind, was never hugely fussed. Do miss the pigs in blankets though, may have to build a lunch around them during the period

for us:
Xmas eve - takeout of fancy sushi, and champagne

xmas day - croissants from the bakery for breakfast (shops here open as normal on xmas day), also for the kids, along with berries / yoghurt and generally a breakfast spread

lunch will probably be snacky bits of nice cheese we have in, chocolates, etc. Probably with a couple of mulled wines

for dinner we have last couple years had osso buco with saffron risotto on the side. A nice treat meal for 2 people.

no desert plan yet , probably will buy one, I’m not a big desert cook. Last year I had a lovely desert wine from my employer as part of a box of wines which was such a treat for the festive period but I’ve moved jobs since and will miss that job perk!

Boxing Day breakfast will be French toast made with panettone - beyond that no plan for the menu beyond Xmas day.

Overhauler · 14/12/2023 07:49

Christmas Day breakfast is croissants with a fruit platter and juice

main meal (around 1-2pm) will be turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, honey roast parsnips and carrots, broccoli, peas, sweetcorn and sprouts with Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

evening snacks will include crackers, cheeses, fruit, left overs for sandwiches on fresh baked baguettes

Dessert is Yule log with either cream or ice cream

chocolates, nuts, sweets, biscuits and crisps available all day

Boxing Day evening meal is always left over turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets and roasties (if any left) with fried new potatoes, baked beans and fresh warm bread - I look forward to this more than the Christmas Day dinner

livvymc · 14/12/2023 09:41

Breakfast around 9am: frozen pastries/bacon butties, orange juice/bucks fizz/tea coffee

Christmas lunch around 1-2pm:
No starter
Turkey
Lamb (our favourite, have to have it!)
pigs in blankets
sausage meat and bacon stuffing
Roasties
Mash
Cabbage
Tenderstem broccoli
Carrot and swede
Cauli cheese
Yorkshire pud (have with every roast)
Bread sauce
Gravy
Drinks at the table will be juice, water, wine, beer and/or prosecco with chambord

We’ll have all the usual party food in for the evening but no one ever tends to want it, all still too full! So for those that want it, we usually end up having part baked rolls with either leftover meat, roasties and gravy or cheese, pate, charcuterie meats etc.

TreacleMines · 14/12/2023 14:04

Buck’s Fizz, smoked salmon with nice bread and chocolate for breakfast.

Crisps/cheese straws/snacky stuff as anyone wants it.

Turkey at 3 ish- turkey, pigs in blankets, mash, roasts, peas, Brussels, broccoli, Yorkshire pudding, spiced red cabbage, parsnips, gravy, alternative vegan roast (everything cooked so the vegan/veggies can eat everything except the turkey).

Chocolate cake, Christmas cake, mince pies with brandy cream or brandy butter.

very nice cheese board (the cheese costs as much as the roast dinner!)

Chocolate, port and champagne throughout the day!

Fizzy Jelly??

OP posts:
SittingontheSidelines · 15/12/2023 23:44

@Broodywuz
Fizzy Jelly
Melt the jelly cubes (we usually use strawberry) in a small amount of water in the microwave, top up to required amount as per instructions with lemonade. It's really popular with adults as well as children. Refreshing after a big dinner. I also like lime jelly with coke.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 16/12/2023 00:51

Breakfast: french toast with maple syrup and bacon, coffee/tea. OJ.
Dinner (about 4.30): starter might either be a terrine I'll make with toasted pita or your regular prawn cocktail.
Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, bread sauce, roasties, sweet potatoes, sprouts, carrots, green beans, pigs in blankets, gravy.
Dessert: Christmas cake, apple crumble with cream, probably ice cream.
We always have ham on Boxing Day but I've got an old school friend coming who keeps kosher so I'm having a think.
