We're hosting and I want to organise some games, but I'm not sure what to plan.

We'll be a group of around 10/12 people, young adults to 70+ but no children.

Maybe something in teams?

Let me know anything you play that always works to bring people together and make a festive fun atmosphere.
( So not monopoly!!)

You won't have more than 52 prizes to share between you! You deal the 52 cards out among everyone, and if everyone contributes 2 prizes then by the time you are 2/5 through the pack people will have to steal from each other. If you happen to have all your cards come up early on you coukd end up with no prizes as you run out of chances to take and your prizes can be stolen, hence you can decide to make a rule whereby if you have no cards left and only 1 prize you cannot be stolen from. It's a totally daft random game, but can be really funny!

We play the same game with dice. You each have a dice, if you throw a 6 , you get to take a present. In the second round if you get a 6 you can steal.

For a good team game… 2 long piece of string , two candy canes and 2 empty wine bottles. Players form two teams compete to slide the cane down the string and manoevee it into the bottle. Great fun.

We play a ‘famous faces’ game.
Print off loads of faces of famous people. Number each face. Stick them on the walls around the house. Make answer sheets. People get into 2s or 3s and try to name all the faces. Works well with mixed generation teams if you have faces from different eras / genres

Yes this is good. It could be incorporated as a picture round in a general quiz. We went to a NY party years ago where the hosts did this. The famous faces were one round but throughout the evening they incorporated other rounds. Actually I think they were a bit pretentious because I seem to remember one of the rounds was a wine tasting that involved guessing country and grape. Oh hum.

For Family Bingo you could make a bingo mat and cards of family members/pets/favourite locations - might be more of a laugh than just numbers.

Charades, Quickdraw ( like Pictionary but you do it on a big whiteboard/roll of lining paper so everyone can see) or a variation is doing that in teams in different rooms racing to get to the last word) , or Articulate (used to be called Taboo) where individuals describe the word on their card without using proscribed words.
You could also use Kahoot! for quizzes if everyone has a Smartphone.

Obama Llama works well for all ages.
As I have done everything else (planned and bought presents for everyone, negotiated who goes where and when, planned and will cook over three days) I have set DH the task of planning a quiz.
Can be done in teams.
One picture round
One general knowledge round
One round aimed at those under 25
One short round of anagrams
One round of pointless.
etc.

There is a video doing the rounds on social media of a noughts and crosses type race game in teams. I’m going to give it a try.

Use masking tape to make a large 3x3 grid on the floor at one end of the room. Two teams, one has paper cups other team has plates. The teams line up and one person from each team has to run to the grid and place there cup or plate down then run back, then next team member runs. First team to get three in a row wins.

If you have more people you could make a bigger grid or just play multiple rounds and keep scores.
