A late breakfast of pie and sliced tongue with toast and Chutney and pastrys for the squeamish. Coffee tea and juices.

Time to recover from breakfast.

Christmas Dinner at about 3. Turkey, 2 types of stuffing (lemon and paistly, bacon and sage onion) sausages and prunes wrapped in bacon, lashings of brasied red cabbage, roast potatos and parsnips, spouts, bread sauce, cranberry sauce and gravy.

Dessert is trifle AND Christmas pudding AND Christmas cake and left over Xmas eve pudding (chocolate tort, pavlova, tart and Citroën)

Dinner is a late night snack made from Xmas Dinner. Turkey and pig sandwich usually followed buy food given as gifts. Chocolate, port, hot chocolate, redwine, blondies/brownies etc warm mince pies with rum dip, more Christmas cake.

Bacon rolls and bucks fizz for breakfast.

Dinner around 2, roast chicken, roast ham, roast potatoes, duchess potatoes, stuffing, braised red cabbage, sprouts, carrots, gravy.

Pavlova, Pandoro and vienetta(for dp) for pudding.

Cheese later.

Dinner as above, likely chicken and lamb with many trimmings. The Christmas gravy is already made and frozen.

Has to be warm cinnamon buns for breakfast, baked by our local Baker. They smell amazing.

Not 100% sure yet as I haven’t managed to get a delivery slot so have decided to shop Christmas Eve for food and take whatever is left and on offer (moneys tight), I am hoping my Christmas Day menu will look something like….

Breakfast - croissants and fruit

Starter - Not really sure 🤔, we don’t always have starters.

Lunch/dinner - Roast Turkey or Beef, roast potatoes, sprouts, carrots, cauliflower cheese, parsnips, Yorkshire puddings.

Pudding - Pavlova or sticky toffee pudding

Later in the evening we will have cheese/pate and biscuits.

Theres only 4 of us for Christmas dinner, I don’t get too excited about it as it’s just a fancy roast dinner. Boxing Day we usually have fish and chips at the beach, Christmas Eve the dc are at their dads. Cold Turkey sandwiches will be on offer for a few days after Christmas. I get more excited about the cold Turkey sandwiches than Christmas dinner.

@isthismylifenow

Roast marmite potatoes you say..... 👀 Care to share that recipe?

Bashed neeps - what is this?
Force meat balls - and these?

Genuine question as I have never heard of these.

Add a generous teaspoon of marmite into the hot fat before you add the parboiled potatoes. Swirl around so they get a coating of the marmite fat. Gives them a yummy unctuous flavour.

Bashed neeps is what my Scottish husband calls mashed carrot and swede with loads of butter and black pepper.

My late mum used to always provide the home made forcemeat balls. It's just a stuffing mix. Fresh breadcrumbs. Streaky bacon. Parsley egg. Rolled into balls and fried.

Breakfast
Coffee, croissants, pain au chocolates, fruit, yoghurts, maybe cereal, orange juice. It goes on through the morning to about 10am when we crack open the champagne and DC start on their selection boxes.

Lunch (aim for 1pm)
No starter.
Main - Turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, gravy, cranberry sauce and bread sauce.
Dessert - Christmas pudding, Yule log and frangipane mince pies, cream and ice cream.

Tea (about 6pm)
Pizza for DC, cheeses - Wensleydale with cranberries, applewood cheese, Brie, and a cheddar, chorizo and salami with crackers.
Christmas cake, mince pies, Yule log.

Drinks
Champagne, white wine, red wine, beers, baileys and whatever brandy is left over from feeding the Christmas cake with coke.

I also get a ham which we have on Christmas Eve. And then whatever turkey and ham are left over we either have on Boxing Day or they go into a pie.

Marmite potatoes belong in the bin with my sister's revolting tinned sprouts. 😁
