What to get my very fussy hard to please MIL

I pride myself in being a good present buyer, i like to make sure it matches the person and is thoughtful.

My MIL is particularly hard especially as years have went by.

Shes in her 70s has Parkinsons, doesn't want to leave the house much.

We have bought her an alexa, a lovely electric diffuser, alexa plugs for lights, hampers etc all of which she has enjoyed.

She is into tech stuff like id say but apart from that not much else.

I could never get her clothes, jammies, dressing gowns, skincare, perfume etc as she uses the same items for the last 20 years and is extremely fussy.

This is your husband's mother and your husband's job.

Hth.

Does she read? Maybe a kindle?

Electric photo frame with lots of family photos uploaded?

Heated throw

Pinkpinkplonk · 26/10/2023 13:33

Nothing wrong with doing things on repeat, especially if you know they went down well!

Dogdesperate · 26/10/2023 13:33

How about a lovely blanket? Heated or weighted? I have neither but hear so much about them! Smile

Ibravedaflood · 26/10/2023 13:33

Does she have a garden?

Unhelpful and unnecessary Comment

jiinglebells · 26/10/2023 13:34

Hmm, is there anything that her Parkinson's makes hard for her that a new technology gift could solve? Like a heated massage blanket for the muscles or similar?

Brumbies · 26/10/2023 13:35

Does she enjoy to cook? How about an air fryer, great for people living on their own.

There's a company that does tea mugs with two handles, maybe something to think about with her parkinsons?

I love my heated fleece and airfyer . I also like the Christmas hampers with Christmas cake mince pies in etc that you can get also good for offering visitors .

DisforDarkChocolate · 26/10/2023 13:40

I love my heated throw. Last year my MIL asked for some LED candles so we got some chargeable remote control ones, they went down very well.

nicknamehelp · 26/10/2023 13:42

Audible subscription? or other subscription even for a nice magazine.

Find a local mobile beautician to give her a pamper session.

Hamper favourite/treat foods.

DisforDarkChocolate · 26/10/2023 13:43

Does she like drama, an Audible subscription gives her lots of choice and you can listen with Alexa.

Does she still get out? Lots of research that dancing is good for people with Parkinson.

Nonentity2023 · 26/10/2023 15:37

You say she likes tech. How about some AirPods, or similar? I use mine with my TV as I have a hearing problem and the clarity and depth is amazing. I don’t disturb the household with a loud TV now either.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 26/10/2023 16:09

Theragun if her Parkinsons causes muscle spasm and pain

Franticbutterfly · 28/10/2023 00:39

A Dreamland Intelliheat Faux Warming throw. They are £99 at Boots, cheaper at Costco I think and possibly Lakeland if you have vouchers. We have 4 in our house and swear by them.
