Any murder mystery book recommendations for dd aged 13.
And where does one go to buy a Venus fly trap?

On for 7 days.

@MandScookiesrule Just a long link tip if it helps! You can delete "ref" (on the third line of your post) and everything after it and it'll still go where you want it to 😊

ThatshallotBaby · 21/10/2023 22:46

@MerylSqueak Thank you for the Parkers offer, I got some indoor paper whites to do a bowl for my sister, and a few more bulbs for me Smile

Dee1224 · 21/10/2023 22:48

Oh dear, now I know that Lakeland do hampers - I want one 😟

MercyNursey · 21/10/2023 23:04

I’ve messaged the seller of the Neon Sign Etsy bargain, they replied really and said the price quoted isn’t the actual price and to message with details of size, font etc for an actual quote so I’m not 100% sure what the price quoted is actually for (which I think is a bit naughty). Also they’re being shipped from America so not sure if they’d be subject to fees? Shame as I love neon lights!

My local Asda had loads of bargains reduced at the end of an aisle, Joseph and Joseph cookware for 70p, Disney mugs 40p, boxes of wine glasses (really pretty ones) for £3.50, unicorn bike helmets for £2 and a few other bits for under 3 quid. They also had reduced ladies pyjamas, £15 down to £2!!

My dad's a nightmare to buy for, I've bought him a wooden mushroom bedside light in case he needs to get up in the night, he's nearly 80

Does anyone know anything about drones? DS has asked for one but I haven’t a clue what to look for. Hoping to spend no more than £50 but I don’t know if that’s possible.

I don't have a recommendation as all ours have been below par 🫣. But I will share a tip to write your mobile number on a piece of paper and stick it to it as this is the only way we've got ours back 🤣

CanIPutTheTreeUpYet · 21/10/2023 23:27

@Borris I got a Venus fly trap from B&Q last year, think it was £6. It flowered then died which is common apparently, so don't let it flower when you get one! (That might have just been an urban legend on the plant group I was in though... but it was healthy before it grew the almost super tall flower! 🤣)

noodledoodler · 21/10/2023 23:28

Just coming on to say, beauty boxes. Never had any problem cancelling but some require you to have received the box before you can cancel. Some have/stipulate very short time between ordering and receiving as they may have a set day of the month for sending their boxes out so if you are ordering close to a cut off date it might make things trickier timewise so DO check out the terms and conditions so you know what you are potentially committing to. Fortune really does favour the brave tho lol

Carrie76 · 21/10/2023 23:34

Does anyone know where I can get some Polly pocket figures? My dd loves her sets but little cousin came visiting and pulled apart quite a few of the dolls. DD is very sad, I said I’d replace them but she (correctly) said you can’t buy just the figures.

CanIPutTheTreeUpYet · 21/10/2023 23:43

@Carrie76 I remember someone had mentioned about the figures in the last thread so had a quick nosey for you. It wouldn't pull up the whole comment but I saw TKMaxx mentioned, maybe it was something like These?
Hopefully the poster is on this thread and can help you better.

@BlackFlyChardonnay Where did you find the kirby squishmallow please?

You could try the Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens? Aimed at YA market.
Agatha Christie?
Peter Lovesey’s Diamond books are great but some more mature themes.
Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody books set in Egypt work for all ages, I think.

MerylSqueak · 22/10/2023 00:29

Can anyone recommend an absolutely, positively leakproof dounle insulated cup please?

Hickry · 22/10/2023 00:42

@MerylSqueak I always recommend and buy Contigo cups. I've two. I've dropped them several times and no dents or spills, I really rate them!

@Carrie76 Ive always found such things on Facebook marketplace. A quick look fir local to me showed a couple of bundles so you might be lucky.

Lellyo · 22/10/2023 06:40

Has anyone ever ordered from Iconic Puzzles before? I know my footy mad son would love one, reviews seem good(?) but just wanted to ask here first before ordering

Yeti - multiple shapes and sizes, not a bargain tho but if you spend a little time looking you can get them a little cheaper - try shore.co.uk

MaverickSnoopy · 22/10/2023 06:59

@MerylSqueak definitely Contigo. They might even survive an explosion. I love mine and sling it in my bag any which way knowing there will be no leaks.

Delahot · 22/10/2023 07:28

Just a heads up regarding the neon signs. I ordered one for about £20 thinking that was the price. It was taken from my bank and then I got an email saying the adjustments were made and the cost was £230 (this was just a name I ordered). I did get a refund but want to save anyone else the faff. It isn’t clear when you first purchase.

@Carrie76 I would get her the Polly advent calendar as there's lovely figures and bits in that. DC had one and there were about 5 figures, a couple of animals, a baby and more.

It's about £20 but worth it imo.
