With thanks to @sideorderofchips for all your work keeping these prequel threads going. Hope everything is okay and you'll be joining us again soon to reclaim your fab threads.

The prequel threads are kept going through the year in the run up to @reastie taking over for the Christmas bargains threads late summer/autumn.

I've ordered a hallmark box but worried it's the wrong one because it was £17.90

You just get more gift bags in the other one

Maybethismaybethat · 10/07/2023 12:34

I couldn't find any other box, this was the only one that came up

tabbycat985 · 10/07/2023 12:40

Thank you that's perfect for my daughters advent bags

mum2three48 · 10/07/2023 12:46

Just added Christmas in a box to basket and the price shot up to £57

Fuckingfuckssake · 10/07/2023 13:40

If anyone spots any good Prime (or otherwise) deals on Posca Pens please would you shout? It's the only thing my DN has asked for and I'd like to oblige.

It's prime day tomorrow. If I see any I'll pop a link up.

Clucket87 · 10/07/2023 14:08

A couple of the Squashmallows are down to £9 in the John Lewis sale.
I know people were mad for these last year.

Someaddedsugar · 10/07/2023 14:09

There are some Jellycats in the JL sale too!

bizzey · 10/07/2023 14:27

Wow ! That is a massive price increase in the Christmas box 😲😲!

Fuckingfuckssake · 10/07/2023 15:06

Thanks @WhyDoesItAlways I'm so busy at work tomorrow I'll likely miss it.

@SootspriteSearcher we are in London but I am now tempted by a summer holidays trip to Brighton just to visit this cafe!

You definitely should! Its amazing! We go for every birthday/Christmas for my girls. It is very cute. And there's lots to see and do in Brighton! If you want any other ideas on things to visit down here let me know!

There is an artbox store in Covent garden (I think) so they might sell some of the sanrio merchandise 😊

mirages08 · 10/07/2023 17:37

Signing in! :)
Got some great make up deals on here last year :)

Blessedbethefruitz · 10/07/2023 18:10

Is there a default best rc model train and track please? Thinking ahead but also checking out for prime day!!

BadgerFace · 10/07/2023 18:26

Thanks @SootspriteSearcher ! DH and I are both Sussex stock so know Brighton a bit (although mainly from 20+ years ago!! 😂) V helpful to know about Covent Garden as I have a direct bus to there from
home. Kawaii is a relatively new interest so still working things out…

How old a child is this for? DS6 is massively in to Hornby and buys his trains and track second hand. It's obviously cheaper to buy second hand but also the older trains have less detail on them so less fiddly parts to break. We have a local shop called antics that sells new and second hand. Facebook marketplace usually has a number of second hand bits available too. We've also found some very reasonable bits in a local antique shop recently.

Hornby also does a junior set whick may be suitable and is reduced on Amazon at the moment.

I don't know if there are any more child friendly options out there so would be interested to hear if anyone has found anything more suitable than Hornby.

Worth keeping an eye on Hobbycraft. They were half price earlier in the year.

Ah fair enough! It hasn't changed much really I've grown up here 🤣

Camden market is another place that has some good stalls, we found a few that sold loads of anime stuff. Couldn't tell you where exactly as we always end up lost 🤣

Flying tiger sometimes has cute kawaii style bits in and I think there's one in Oxford Street. Claires accessories stocks pusheen, and sometimes other characters. Also try forbidden planet which is near Leicester Square.

And I remembered after looking at last years purchases, I've used blippo.com for kawaii stuff!

Blessedbethefruitz · 10/07/2023 22:32

@WhyDoesItAlways Ds will be 5 in January, but that actually looks a bit young for him! We were at a model railway this weekend which he found amazing. I was looking at the lego set but maybe something less breakable. He loves lego, but more playing than building or fixing.

So maybe something less child friendly, but not lego!

If he has a brio set you can get remote controlled trains to go on them. DS also has Lego trains, Thomas Trackmaster (some of the trains talk to each other), Duplo trains which have basic logic tools with them and a couple of those Christmas trains that you see in garden centres with the Christmas decs. DP also bought him some train wheels and couplers from brick link so he could free build his own trains which was a hit with him. We have a lot of trains in our house Grin

Blessedbethefruitz · 10/07/2023 23:05

@WhyDoesItAlways We actually only have a big chunky Thomas set suitable from 1! Loads of track and talking trains, but we've not got anything else like this except rc monster trucks.

It's more building tracks that is of interest. I was pondering a tree train this year as his baby sister will be almost 2... Can you combine knock off brio tracks with genuine bits?
