What board games did you play and you want to play today? Do you like board games or hate just to see them on the table?

I love board games and Christmas is no Christmas without board games.
Yesterday we played

Lotti Karotti (hit with a three year old and 8 year old)

Camel Up

Catan

Scrabble

We play articulate, Rummikub, and a variety of different card games but this is something we often do as a family, not just at Christmas.

We played poetry for Neanderthals, More or less, and shot in the dark. The first of those was hilarious. Liked the others to play with older folks.

6 adults here. We played a few games, but the most popular and fun one was "Confident".

I like confident

autienotnaughty · 26/12/2022 18:06

The Mind is a great one to play with older ones. We have got a new one to try called Moral Compass

Equimum · 26/12/2022 21:19

over the past two day, we have played:
a Game of Cat and Mouth
D&D card game
frustration
Battleships
Jenga
Bugs in the Kitchen
Rummikub
Scrabble

DS is 3.5 so didn't do board games as I've not come across an age appropriate one (might have to look into the one you mentioned above, OP). We did however play pin the nose on Rudolph and Christmas snap. Snap in particular was a hit 😊

3.5 year old DS here too and we played funny bunny's. It was a MASSIVE hit. Played lots of times yesterday and today also first thing this morning as soon as he got out of bed! Highly recommend (same as OPs Lottie carrotie)

Thank you! I'll definitely look into this one too!

We've played don't wake dad and buckaroo (we have a 2 and 5 year old!). I wanted to play jenga with my mum and brother but we ran out of time.

evilharpy · 27/12/2022 08:37

We played

Articulate Christmas version (we liked it so might get the full version)
Boggle
Wheels vs Doors

Still have to play:

Exploding Kittens
Catan

evilharpy · 27/12/2022 08:37

Oh and we didn't play it at Christmas but we do still play it regularly - Rhino Hero. Great laugh.

Iamblossom · 27/12/2022 12:55

We have Boppit, Connect 4 and Downfall on the table for most of Christmas and play a few games of each a couple of times a day. Short and sweet and fun.

Iamblossom · 27/12/2022 12:55

Haven't played it this year but also like Blokus

Not exactly a board game, but we have a version of Connect 4 which is a 3D grid laid out on a table, where you have to throw ping pong balls to land in the holes. So it's strategy and skill. I'm useless because I can't throw, but it's really.good fun

FuckingHateRats · 27/12/2022 14:22

We wrap up a board game for Christmas eve each year, and then play it before they kids go to bed. We usually play it again with guests on Christmas Day.

Last year we played Confident? Which was BRILLIANT.

This year we got Pass the Bomb which was also fantastic - they all loved it.

CurseYouPerryThePlatypus · 29/12/2022 02:27

@EmmaGrundyForPM is that Bounce Out? That’s a good laugh.

We have enjoyed our new games this Christmas:
Muffin Time (lots of silly cards relating to a YouTube series although you don’t need to have seen them to play)
Kariba (small and simple)
Six Second Scribbles (like Pictionary on speed 🤣 it was hilarious with a big group today)

Also have been enjoying Dice Forge lately which is more of a “serious” game rather than a party game.

The mention of Downfall has reminded me that DH said he enjoyed that as a child and would love to play it again - that’s one January birthday present sorted, thanks!

FixItUpChappie · 29/12/2022 03:41

I received Dominion (2nd edition) for Christmas and we have been playing about 3 hands a day since

Have already called around to find an expansion Grin
