On Christmas Day or Boxing Day?

We are from the Far East and open presents on the 25th.

Christmas Day after breakfast.

Stockings are done on Christmas Eve.

FrostyGirl66 · 23/12/2022 21:44

Main presents Christmas Day morning, tree presents on Boxing Day.

My mum, me as a child and my children have only opened our Christmas stocking in the morning. We then open presents from under the tree after lunch.
Now there is no more stockings so we only open presents after lunch. To me it's normal and I find it really strange and unusual when I see the Christmas morning carnage photos from friends on social media.
I imagine that if there are any grandchildren it will be the same for them too as my Dd likes the tradition.

Christmas Eve, typically between main dish and deserts. Then again on 6th of January. I’m Spanish.

Christmas day.

But boxing day we host or go DMs or Dsis and the kids open their presents from them then.

It's Christmas morning here on the 25th.

DS wakes me and probably the whole house next door up, anywhere between 6am and 8am screaming "it's Christmas" 😳🤣

I have a cuppa whilst he opens everything, then I will open my only gift, it's generally something DS has been helped to purchase from family members ☺️

Then we have breakfast.

Had my stocking in the morning as a child. All tree presents were opened after the Queen's speech.
When she was about 11, DD said she'd like to do it that way, too, as less hectic.

Morning, dc get us up pretty early, we manage to hold them off till about 7.15.
this year DP has had to work because his colleague has covid. So I got to wait till he comes home to open mine, it’s not an issue really I always open mine last and a bit later than everyone. He’s gonna watch dc on FaceTime to open thier presents.

jocktamsonsbairn · 24/12/2022 00:12

Complete chaos and wonderful excitement as soon as we wake up! Can't imagine how people can wait till after dinner!! My 'kids' are 19 and 20 hit still the same!

Everything in the morning for everyone in the house. There's usually us going somewhere or someone coming to us though so there will be more exchanging then, usually after a late lunch

Christmas Eve night because I'm half German.

So do German kids think Santa comes the night of 23rd? Tbh it makes sense to do half the countries in night and the rest another

dontgobaconmyheart · 24/12/2022 01:52

We pick one before bed on Christmas Eve, which usually involves a round of " no not that one" until someone just gets one chosen for them to avoid them opening a 'main' present.

The rest we do when everyone's up in the morning, or if it's just me and DP at Christmas as it often is, he is usually working so around dinner time when he gets home.

The puppy will be having his as early as possible so he can amuse himself and I can have a moment or two of peace.

PinkSyCo · 24/12/2022 03:25

When we all wake up. So probably around 10.30 these days. We all (5 of us this year) take turns in opening presents one at a time, so the process can easily take up to a couple of hours. Oh and I still do my adult kids a stocking too, which they open as and when they wake.

JoAlone2022 · 25/12/2022 09:14

Merry Christmas everyone!

We started around 7:30 this morning and we've opened all the presents. Hope you're all having a lovely morning Xmas Biscuit

My hometown is Hong Kong and I know that opening 🎁 on Boxing Day is the tradition in Hong Kong. If you open 🎁 on Christmas day people would think it’s wrong haha.
