I need ideas, mine doesn't have much of a list. So far I've got him the alcohol he likes and an accessory for his new games console.

I'm getting my 19 yr old clothes which is what he's asked for and chocolate. I got him to send me links of suggestions though for the clothes rather than guess.

Comefromaway · 07/12/2022 09:35

My 18 year old doesn't even drink and has no interest in clothes.

So far he has asked for a particular microphone and that is all.

Ciri · 07/12/2022 09:36

I’m really struggling

BonnesVacances · 07/12/2022 09:40

A bottle of Captain Morgan's rum
Lego Pirate Ship
Pokemon Switch game
Books from his wishlist

For his birthday he got a Swiss Army knife which he loves. So far he's only used it to open his letters.

Boys/Men are so hard to buy for and even harder when they get older.

I'm making a snack hamper - added a snack and cereal bowl - filled with favourite drinks, cereal and snacks
Band Merch
Pyjamas, pants and socks
Necklace, bracelet and rings
Air pod cleaner
Book on a subject he's studying
They game online now so no need to buy games
Protein bars
Mostly cash

Mini Fridge for drinks in his room?

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 07/12/2022 09:47

Samsung ear buds
Weighted blanket
Harry Potter earrings

cptartapp · 07/12/2022 09:57

A boxed set of sauces by East Coast Chilli Company others are available. You can choose which sauces from a selection, from mild to extra hot.

Oblomov22 · 07/12/2022 10:05

I've bought him nothing yet. I've just text asking what he would like. your thread prompted me to wonder what he would like, I hadn't even thought of it up until then. I'm going to pick him up next weekend. Can't wait.

4yearsandwaiting · 07/12/2022 10:06

Jeans, jumper, new belt (his broke last week), smellies, cash and his favourite chocolate that he only gets at Christmas.

Comefromaway · 07/12/2022 10:10

Unfortunately mst of the suggested things on here are things he already has or doesn't like. He doesn't eat chocolate, only sweets, is a very fussy eater, doesn't read. Reads music on his ipad not from a printed score and already has headphones, earbuds.

QuietYou · 07/12/2022 10:20

So far I've only got a coffee machine and jeans. He's really hard to buy for!

mumofthree22 · 07/12/2022 10:24

I've bought mine things for his car, clothes, chocolate and smellies so far

AliensToTheLeft · 07/12/2022 10:30

Cash. And then a few things to open like aftershave, tickets for comedian, computer game, trainers, T-shirt’s, framed picture of our dogs, alcohol, coffee voucher, chocolate.

Struggling with my almost 18 year old DS. He's another one that doesn't drink and doesn't have any interest in clothes. Food gifts won't go down well as he sees it as a chore thanks to his dietitian.

He likes manga but mostly reads it online and besides I wouldn't know what's cool and what isn't.

Might go down the experience route if I can't think of anything else. He loves F1 so maybe tickets for next year?

Comefromaway · 07/12/2022 10:42

He likes manga but mostly reads it online and besides I wouldn't know what's cool and what isn't.

Dd has asked for an online subscription to Marvel Unlimited. Is there a similar thing for Manga perhaps?

Daftapath · 07/12/2022 10:43

Mine is slightly older and some of these will be for his stocking but so far he has a portable charger, headphones (he goes through them constantly!), football album (bit tongue in cheek), novelty football colour socks, sleep pod, Jamie Oliver One book (he has had one for the last few years and they've been great at getting him cooking a bit), possibly a few individual drams of vodka/tequila.

Comefromaway · 07/12/2022 10:43

Stupidly we are buying ds's best friend a couple of bits for Christmas and I can think of LOADS of things he would like. I think my ds is just awkward.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 07/12/2022 10:49

Mine are in their mid 20's and i still get them socks...boxer shorts...lynx....bits for cars....keyrings...vegan sweets and snacks as one ds is vegan.
Main present is cash..most of the above is stocking fillers.

BearSoFair · 07/12/2022 11:16

DS1 is 20 but he's got trainers, a cafetiere, and novelty socks...so hard as they get older, especially now he's working and generally buys things for himself!

We had a couple of good years with Pocket Operator synthesizers, would highly recommend if your DS is into music! Only stopped getting them for DS because he has 4 now and can do everything he wants with those.

Comefromaway · 07/12/2022 11:28

I've never heard of them before, what do they do? He is studying music at conservatoire and currently has a Korg Kronos stage piano plus a Juno keyboard he uses as a controller. He has an extensive sound library and he manipulates them to create his own synth sounds both for his band he plays in and for the theatre work he does. Last year for Christmas we bought him a particular piano sound for his sound library.

I have a 17 year old... he's hugely into Formula 1 (Red Bull Racing and Verstappen in particular). So far I've got him:

-A set of 24 F1 Grand Prix wooden tracks from the past 24 circuits around the world. They are self adhesive so will be a great wall display and each track comes with a brushed steel plaque with the circuit name and year.

-A red bull racing tshirt

-A leather Hurley wallet which comes with an inner smaller ID wallet which is removable so when he only wants to take the essentials out then he can. I think the removable inner part is such a great idea!

-Hugo Boss Tonic eau de toilette

He will also get a "World's Guiness Records 2023" book because this is tradition in our house from when he was about 7 years old.

lightisnotwhite · 07/12/2022 11:31

@Oblomov22 I am very excited to be picking mine up this week!

I share the pain of having a 18 year old whose interests are online and mostly unintelligible.
Based on the fact he has (once) expressed an interest in Japanese cooking knives he’s getting those as his main present. I’m figuring they will come in useful regardless of if he actually likes them.
I’ve made him a hamper of healthy unusual food as the Yoga box from FodaBox sounded nice but went up in price.
He’s got a posh shaving set from DH, Dualit chocolate frother from grandparents, a dressing gown and a gift token for the local record shop as he’s apparently bought a record player with his student loan.

In his stocking he’s got sweets and chocolates, his preferred brand of socks, Stylus cleaner and a Christmas pot noodle. Will get him shower gel and boxers.

BearSoFair · 07/12/2022 11:34

The first minute of this video does a better job of explaining them than I ever could but they're essentially tiny calculator sized synthesizers, they look incredibly basic but are able to be sequenced, linked, and recorded. Arcade was the first we bought for DS and it was an instant hit!

whimsical1975 · 07/12/2022 11:35

Oh yes, he also plays alot of golf so he's getting a head cover for one of his clubs and a new golf shirt.

Withholdingvitalinfo · 07/12/2022 11:40

Mine is 19

main present will be clothes - he hasn’t sent link yet. Likely Depop or similar vintage

also got him smaller stuff :

Boot Bananas - for his stinky footy boots
Hotel Chocolat trio of sickly sweet liqueurs
lots of herb/spice pots etc (he’s at uni)
bow tie
cheap cufflinks
toblerone
umbrella
shave gel
costa voucher
