struggling for DH/Dad

Mine is hard to buy for as he doesn't like or want stuff for the sake of stuff. He reads all his books on a Kindle, plays all his videogames on Steam, doesn't like any sort of knickknacks or anything decorative without a purpose. I've got him a pair of New Balance trainers and I'll get him a load of his favourite chocolate and treats and probably something drinkable. He liked some cherry rum from Aldi one year, maybe something a bit unusual like that instead of the go to Captain Morgans. He wants a new woolly hat but can't find one he likes, so if I see a nice one I'll get that too.

FIL wants the latest Camra Good Beer Guide.

I've got my Dad whisky, a nice jumper and some diabetic bamboo socks.

I've got my DH some aftershave, a hoodie, a pair of pyjama bottoms, slippers, cheese and wine tasting kit, post shave balm, a nice drinks bottle and a selection box.

DS 16 is getting his first new tablet to replace a ~10 year old ipad

DH asked for a peaky blinders style cap & I ended up buying one for DB & need to order another for DF. Could be a photo opportunity!
He’s into cycling so I usually get him some gear or accessories. Always gets a giant bar of fruit & nut.

So far I've got DH a "work from home survival kit" - beanie hat, touchscreen gloves, fluffy hoodie, a band t-shirt and so nice chocolate.

He really wants a new guitar but I'm waiting for a payment on some work I'm doing next week and I don't think it will be paid until January, so he might get an IOU for a guitar instead.

@Noelfieldingsjumpers No problem. Let him know they're quite good about refunding your credit if you regret your choice early on and want to return a book. If he's signed up to library they also have their own audiobook scheme, free, for members.

Is there anywhere I could buy a Rubix cube above normal cube's... something challenging and special?

Good whisky, Blur tickets, a jumper. The whisky and jumper are from the DC really - the Blur tickets are enough from me!

I've bought a grand total of three things for my DH that he actually uses - sheepskin slippers, a made to measure suit, and boxers. Honestly I'd just stick with the fancy boxers for your husband and something vaguely thoughtful like a book.

Husband cycles so bought him rope lights for his bike so he can be side on at roundabouts etc

DP wanted a nice wool coat so I got him that.
DB wants a hoodie.
DM’s partner wants a go outdoors gift card.
DP’s dad was the hardest but I found a hot sauce from around the world gift set in John Lewis so I’ve got him that!

DH is tricky, as he never wants anything and if he really wants something, he’d just buy it himself. So everything I buy needs to be returnable 😂

• new backpack, but not obviously branded and can’t look like a school backpack (found a brand I’ve never heard of on ASOS)
• sheepskin slippers (he’s now a convert in these times of low temperatures)
• fancy zip jacket for working from home. He likes a particular brand, but again it’s not obvious it’s expensive
• selection box of male grooming bits (bargain from ASOS, I’ll unbox the things and pop into his stocking)
• Hotel Chocolat dark choc batons
• Molton Brown shower gel
• This Works sleep spray
• Happy Socks x6 pairs (always a bargain from TK Maxx)
• Leather/tweed gloves (I think I’ll return these actually)
• Tickets to a comedy show of a weird, loud, sweaty American comedian that he watches on Netflix, so that’s a definite winner!!

Dh has whiskey tasting which we will tie up with a weekend away. But that’s also for me.

Casino game - more for when we host Boxing Day & adds a different dimension to the day.

Amazon fire stick (not completely sure about this)

Battery operated wine opener.

Cashmere jumper. I get him the same one every year. As every year I end up shrinking it by forgetting to hand wash.

He’s difficult to buy for as he isn’t into gadgets or have any activity hobbies that I can buy for. He’s also just been shopping to get himself stuff. Does the same for his birthday. Irritates the hell out of me.

Would you mind sharing what art stuff you got? My husband is an artist and very specific about what he likes so rarely gets surprises, but I'd love to get him something arty he's not expecting.

• A lonely planet pocket guide for a city break we've booked next year

I've about £10/£15 left so probably some chocolate or biscuits to top it up.

• Electric diffuser with some nice oils to go with it.
• Nice bottle of whiskey (Master of Malt are great if you need helping picking a bottle from a specific region if your partner is into whiskey and not just a bog standard bottle from the supermarket)
• Slippers and dressing gown
• Aftershave/scents (went with Maison Margiella’s Jazz Club this time)

I also threw in a FIFA trivia game, was a fiver from M&S so a pretty cheap stocking filler. I’ll get a few things of chocolate to finish his stocking.
