Beebumble2 · 28/11/2022 16:47

If they’re sporty/ outdoor type, Mountain Warehouse has a really good sale at the moment.

evtheria · 28/11/2022 17:54

@LostInSpaceRaiders May I know which nose hair trimmer did you buy? DP only liked a specific Braun model that they've stopped making so I'd like to find something else he'll be happy with.

My dad's so hard. He doesn't do much and can't work at the moment, so the usual tools won't be useful this year. He lives in tracksuit bottoms and has tonnes, same with pyjamas. No hobbies. He can't read very well. He was in the territorial army, and I think he's got most things you can get from his regiment. I think it will have to be a food and drink basket. And socks. Any tips welcome!

DH got

aftershave
Stephen king New book
Dave Grohl book
bob Mortimer book
pair of jeans
and I'll get him jelly babies.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 30/11/2022 05:48

DH - chocolate advent calendar, nothing else as haven’t bought for years.

DS1 - advent calendar, Golf bag + stocking including fancy shower gel, gin cracker, voucher for food outlet, chocolate orange.
DS2 - advent calendar, Overnight bag+ stocking as above

Both sons have good jobs and all agreed to cut right back at they can buy what they like during the year. No need for anymore ‘stuff’.

Withholdingvitalinfo · 30/11/2022 06:32

I’ve got DH some earbuds and some spirit level cufflinks 😂

FallHappy1 · 30/11/2022 07:29

Dad: we're getting him a photo of all of his grandchildren
A mug and a photo frame made by DS1s school to raise money at their christmas fair. I might get him some slippers also and we always get him a Lynx gift set as he likes Lynx and always says that's what he wants 🤷‍♀️
Dh: a ring Doorbell and new headphones for his PC and clothes.

PeachTea1 · 30/11/2022 07:46

DF
rucksack
chillys water bottle
book on the lake district

evtheria · 30/11/2022 07:47

@Noelfieldingsjumpers
Does he have a smartphone or smart gadget at home like tablet etc? Maybe an Audible subscription, the range & quality of books on it is amazing for someone who dislikes or struggles with reading.
Or extra thick dressing gown if he's at home more, with some treats.

PeachTea1 · 30/11/2022 07:51

Hit post too soon…

Hori Hori - a thread recommendation
chocolates that look like birds eggs - can’t decide if this is fun or a bit weird!

DB
Travel book - Where To Go When Europe version

BlueWalnut · 30/11/2022 08:30

I make Dad his favorite dinner or cake. We don’t bother with gifts as such.

Dinnerdate1 · 30/11/2022 08:32

I've treated him this year as he's just got rid of cancer!
He's got an E scooter he wanted
Trainers
An outfit he's had his eye on
2 bottles of aftershave
And I can't remember what else
And a traditional lynx set that no one wants but comes in handy 😂

DooNotAsISay · 30/11/2022 08:37

@Whatwherewherewhat I bought that book for DS last year! He loved it!

neonleopard · 30/11/2022 13:08

DH is getting a Lego set, a couple of books (first game of thrones book and the first one of the other similar series!), the smashed grapes wine tasting set, some basic wireless headphones and two shirts from Vinted. Considering a cordless electric screwdriver too!

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/11/2022 20:14

I finished DHs yesterday

  • a book on the complete works of van Gogh (he's asked for this)
  • Ask a historian book by Greg Jenner
  • a giftbag full of art supplies (some he's asked for, others I thought looked interesting)
  • a gift bag of treat food (truffles, sour patch kids, Percy pigs, copper in the clouds lychee liqueur)
  • a pair of craghopper trousers
Noelfieldingsjumpers · 01/12/2022 07:24

@evtheria thank you! The Audible is a good idea. I bought him a kindle last year and he doesn't use it much, I think he just plays solitaire on it, but he does listen to the radio quite a lot!

Puddywoodycat · 01/12/2022 07:31

Silverstone musuem tickets
Electric toothbrush
Some items of his favourite food eg marmelade and lebcucken.

Possibly something else, not sure.
