Bulky low cost stocking fillers!

Pringlesaremyspiritanimal · 20/11/2022 11:29

Years back we bought enormous stockings for our six kids - seemed like a great idea at the time.

they’re all now teenagers and I’m looking for ideas to fill the stockings for as low cost as possible.

any ideas??

OP posts:
Idontgiveagriffindamn · 20/11/2022 11:31

Bag of Doritos, bottle of pop or box of cereal that they’d not normally be allowed. marshmallows.
Blanket, new PJs, mine always get new underwear, socks.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 20/11/2022 11:31

Or accept that they aren’t always going to be full.

Gufo · 20/11/2022 11:31

Tub of (aldi) nutella

PigLightingBastard · 20/11/2022 11:32

Crisps
Fleece blanket
Squishmallow or cuddle pillow
Slippers
Welly boots

Or wrap smaller things in shoe boxes.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 20/11/2022 11:38

Replace the stockings for smaller ones.......job done & cheaper than buying for the sake of filling a stocking.

Rainbowshit · 20/11/2022 11:45

Bag of popcorn
Tube of Pringles

Plexie · 20/11/2022 11:45

Big packets of popcorn. Very light but bulky. Sainsbury's currently selling caramelised biscuit flavour, not that I've tried it yet.

Or do the planet a favour and follow Moose's suggestion of getting smaller stockings so you won't have to buy mountains of tat to fill them.

LightUpTheWoods · 20/11/2022 11:48

Pringles
Shower gel
Coco pops / other sugary cereal I don't normally buy. Lucky Charms are good.

AwfulTed · 20/11/2022 11:54

Following with interest! Very hard to fill a pillowcase (!) each for ds14 and ds 12
poker set was good last year, but I’m totally blank this year. They literally have everything they want , anything gaming wise is online now but they aren’t old enough to let go of the pillowcase. American sweets? Plant for room? Everything Is so SMALL

looking forward to stopping buying for buying’s sake it feels so wrong

Kellogg's multipack mini cereal were always my kids faves. Marshmallows are cheap. Pop tarts. Pringles. Fluffy socks. Bubble bath. Bn bn biscuits. Mini max individual cake bar packs are HUGE for £1-£1.50.

Food! Crisps, sweets, boxes of chocolates.
Upgrades on things you will buy for them anyway - bathroom stuff in our house.

Mine get a bottle of Coke, tube of pringles, bottle of deodorant or shower gel. Add in a book and a couple of little bits, and ours are pretty much full.

TrixJax · 20/11/2022 12:08

Pringles
Yard of Oreos or jaffacakes
Big bottle bubble bath
Big bottle Shower gel
Something for bedroom wall like picture/calendar of whatever they're into eg Dr Who
Mine always get new pair fluffy boot-type slippers, they take up lot of roomGrin
tub of sweets
Cushion
Bed throw
Can of favourite soft drink

As PP mentioned if you've got a few smaller things put them in boxes or the flat cardboard package that Amazon use and wrap them up

JuneOsborne · 20/11/2022 12:09

Have you seen the big pot noodle Christmas crackers? They're enormous and a fiver.

Hopemax · 20/11/2022 12:09

I have the same issue but thankfully only one to fill, I've enjoyed the challenge for the past few years but now mine is getting older its getting trickier!
Rolled up magazine with plastic shit on the front (obviously more for younger ones)
Lynx shower gel/bodyspray set
Bubble bath (something like Matey or other novelty bottle for little ones)
Pringles or Doritos
Bags of flavoured nuts etc you see this time of year
Underwear/socks
Multipack of favourite chocolate bars
Cans of fizzy drink

AntlerRose · 20/11/2022 12:09

Great thread. I am struggling to think of any ideas at all this year so will be using some of these.

Posters can be quite big.

Id got as far as pants, deoderant and those hot chocolate balls that melt

CakeCrumbs44 · 20/11/2022 12:12

A new stocking sounds like a good idea! If they're teenagers surely they're old enough to understand that the things they want are more expensive and a big sack full is unnecessary. Will they want a sack full of crisps and cereal?

RedElephants · 20/11/2022 12:19

I still get my 'boys' a stocking/xmas presents.
They're 21 & 24 and live at home.

I buy them.. Typically PJs, t-shirt/jeans/sweatshirt, socks, pants, antiperspirant/deodorant, shampoo, chocolate, sweets, a novelty thing, a £1 lottery ticket.
They also get £50 from their dad and I.

Rudolphscarrot · 20/11/2022 12:36

One of those ring light things?
B&M do cheap gaming gifts like XBox lamps
6 pack of cans

Partypoooooper · 20/11/2022 12:56

If any of them are driving an air freshener, cloth or de icer for the car.

Deodorant/shower/bath stuff.

Hair products.

Nail varnish.

Chocolate/sweets.

Tube of Jaffa cakes.

Mug, water bottle, glass or travel mug.

Socks.

Nice pen and notepad.

Hot chocolate sachets.

Toothbrush.

Game/puzzle.

Also if they're teenagers they should be old enough to understand they won't be as full anymore or they have to have a smaller one, especially this year with the current economic news.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/11/2022 16:16

300gm bars choc Lidl do their own oreo bar style or milka do an oreo one on amazing for £2.50 (&fruit/nut or dairy milk similar price).

Tube pringle's

Jar of nutella

Bottle bubble bath/shower gel

Asda had some smaller kilner style jars with xmas prints on for 76p each can then fill with midget gems or shop own brand sweets/choc buttons.

One those long tubes jaffa cakes

Big pack felt pens

We try to buy lots of the food treats for stockings rather than lots bits plastic stuff for sake of it as kids will eventually eat the food items

WaltonOnNaze · 20/11/2022 17:54

Something silly like blow up bananas. Inflate them first

Leeds2 · 20/11/2022 17:58

A football.

Rolled up comic/magazine.

Puzzle book.
